Mahopac Street Fest Draws Record Crowd

BY BOB DUMAS PHOTOS: ROB DISTASIO
EDITOR

e 18th annual Mahopac
Street Festival drew a record
number of attendees on Sunday,
Oct. 3, when it was held under
partly sunny skies on a gorgeous
fall afternoon.

Michael Celestino, CEO of
the Greater Mahopac-Carmel
Chamber of Commerce said
there was some concern that the
cancelation of the Columbus
Day Parade would impact the
festival attendance, but it did not.

“ ere was a concern because
they are usually held in conjunc-
tion but this year, I believe we
had a record attendance,” he said.
“We took advantage of the Swan
Cove area so it was not as con-
gested, otherwise it would have
been obvious. I would estimate it
was about 50 percent more.”

Celestino said this year’s festi-
val featured a more eclectic mix
of food trucks giving attendees
more options. He also said more
local food vendors took part be-
cause they “realized the value.”
