meeting on Monday, June 28, at the Lewisboro Library.
An ‘Evening
in the Park’ e dispute centered primarily on the board’s decision to sell the
lots by resolution rather than putting them up for auction. But Su-
pervisor Peter Parsons maintained that a straightforward sale was
“faster, easier and cheaper.”

e lots had been reviewed by a wetlands inspector and the town’s
tax assessor, who both agreed the property was “unbuildable,” said
Parsons, who referred to it as “mostly marshland.” e assessor val-
ued the lots at $1,500 (1.3 acres) and $2,000 (2 acres).

“ e price that we’ve been o ered is several times what the asses-
sor believes they are worth,” Parsons said. “And we would, of course,
by selling them, start to gain taxes, which we haven’t been getting
for a very long time on them. Second, we would avoid the cost
of dealing with trees, which fall from these properties onto other
properties or the road.”

Lewisboro Town Park Fundraiser

Fundraising e orts for a new, inclu-
sive playground at Lewisboro Town
Park continued on Saturday, July 10,
with an “Evenings in the Park” event
organized by the Lewisboro Play-
ground Improvement Project. Resi-
dents enjoyed live music, food trucks,
family activities, a meet and greet with
K-9 O cer Zane, and more.

As of last month, prior to the week-
end’s event, more than $35,000 had
been raised.

e group is taking a phased ap-
proach to construction. But how much
work gets done ultimately depends on
how much money is raised. e entire
project would cost around $625,000.

Another fundraising event is sched-
uled for Friday, Aug. 6. To learn more
