their attention to the Boardercross event.

FOR PEACE AMONG THE N
BY TOM WALOGORSKY
EDITOR

On a chilly Sunday morning,the
congregation of St. James Episco-
pal Church gathered as they do ev-
ery week. However, the service on
March 27 was especially important
as it paid special attention to the
ongoing invasion of Ukraine and
the hopes for an end to the hostili-
ties.

In delivering the day’s sermon,
Rev. Deacon Ken Citarella asked
those in attendance a simple ques-
tion: what is peace? With help
from his congregation, Citarella
determined that true peace comes
from not just faith or action, but a
combination of both.

e service included readings
from Joshua and Corinthians, fol-
lowed by the familiar gospel which
tells the tale of the prodigal son.
Attendants joined in prayers for
peace, and heard a performance
of the Ukrainian national anthem.

e church choir also sang a beau-
tiful rendition of “Imagine”by John
Lennon.

Following the service, the con-
gregation would combine their
faith and prayers with action as
they met more than 100 commu-
nity members outside the church
and proceeded to march down
Titicus Rd. in a show of solidarity
and hope.

e group made their way to
Rte.121,with many waving Ukrai-
nian ags and homemade signs,
joined together in the idea that
hopefully peace will soon prevail.
