Dineen-Carey.
Dineen told Yorktown News that they had to
work very closely with the town and di erent
agencies of the town to turn the location into what
it is today. She described the site as a “dream come
true.”
e Pied Piper building now has two classes
for two-year-olds, three classes for three-year-olds,
and three classes for four-year-olds. ere are four
outdoor play areas, including a basketball court and
a turf sports eld. ere is also a large overhang
outside to allow outdoor performances, theater
productions, and the ability to play in any type of
weather.
“I live here, and I work here, and I think that
connection is so important,” said Dineen. “I see
generation after generation come through here.
When one of my old students sends their children
here, and I’m sure it will be their children’s children,
it is such a tribute to our facility.”
e Pied Piper prides itself in being a close-
knit family run business where its owners know
the names of every student in attendance. When a
student is dropped o and picked up at the school,
they are greeted and returned to their families by a
member of the Dineen-Carey family.
“It’s so nice that another generation is coming
around and our school’s growing in size to accom-
modate them,”said Dineen.
e school welcomes students ages 18 months
through 5-years-old and o ers enrollment options
for half day, full day, and extended day hours. ey
also o er before and after school care for students
within the Yorktown School District.
Pied Piper’s program follows the New York State
Core Curriculum for pre-schools to prepare stu-
dents for kindergarten. e curriculum highlights
activities of daily life and social skills to help stu-
dents develop good relationships with their peers.
Programs at the school integrate a multi-sensory
approach to learning and include music, art, physi-

“Pied Piper has spent 40 years providing such a
necessary service to our community, and we wish
them another 40 years of success,” said Town Su-
