Doctors saved his brother’s life, now Mahopac senior wants to make a di erence

BY BOB DUMAS
EDITOR

Two years ago, when Max Seme-

gran learned his older brother, Ben,

had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s

lymphoma, a type of blood cancer,

naturally, he was scared.

“I was shocked. I thought he was

indestructible,” said Max, 17, a senior

at Mahopac High School. “ en sud-

ease.”

It was the boys’ father, a physician,

who noticed the symptoms.

“He saw this bump on his chest and

he got tested,” Max recalled. “When

the tests came back [positive], I

couldn’t believe it.”

Max said the treatment was almost

as bad as the disease.
