proud to be part of this team. We’ve worked so hard.
Some of the veterans have been working toward this PHOTOS: SKIP PEARLMAN
for ve years. We’ve put a tremendous amount of
work into this, and it’s really exciting to be rewarded
for that hard work.

“ at last inning was de nitely an intense inning,
crazy, emotions were high,” she added. “I think ev-
erything happens for a reason - we made a great play
and came out on top.”

Becker said she felt good, and in control, through-
out the game.

“I was red up,” she said. “I’ve wanted to be in
this position, this has always been my dream, and
I was focused on doing whatever I could to help us
win. I had a little command trouble, had a few more
hit batters than I wanted. But I was able to work
through it.

“It’s de nitely bittersweet,” Becker added. “Obvi-
ously winning a title like this is incredible. But for
us seniors, it’s really hard for us to play our last game
together. We’re de nitely excited, but there’s also a
bit of sadness with it. And it’s de nitely upsetting
that we can’t see how far we could’ve gone in states.
We clearly had a great team this year, and I think we
had a shot to make it far in states. But in the end,
we’re very grateful we even got to play the season
and win a regular Section 1 title.”

Mahopac reached the championship game by
beating No. 4 Arlington, 4-0, in the semi nal round,
the prior Wednesday at Mahopac.

Becker struck out 10 and allowed four hits in the
win and doubled and drove in a run. DellaMura also
had an RBI in that win.
