will be stars of the parade!
Every year, the Italian American Club chooses a Miss Columbus, a Little Miss Columbus and, for the rst time this year, a Master Columbus. e trio will take
part in the 2019 Columbus Day parade. Be sure to wave when their oat passes by.
Here’s a closer look at the three honorees:
GINA CAMBARERI, MISS COLUMBUS 2019
Fourteen-year old Mount Kisco resident Gina Cambareri was named this year’s Miss Columbus. She is a freshman at Fox
Lane High School.
In her free time, she enjoys taking photos, especially of outdoor scenery, and she also loves to dance.
“I take weekly classes and belong to a hip-hop competition team,” she said.
One of her favorite subjects in school is science, and she hopes to major in college and pursue a career in genetics counseling.
“I have also been studying Italian in school for the past three years and nd it easy to understand because my parents speak
in dialect at home,” she said. “I have been to Italy three times so far, once when I was a baby, and cannot wait to go back.
I want to practice speaking real Italian next time I go, and look forward to visiting the big cities, like Rome, even though
Calabria and southern Italy are so beautiful.”
Gina said her favorite things about being Italian are learning about all the traditions that are part of her heritage and
researching her family roots originating from Italy.
“ at’s what I plan to do on my next visit there and to be able to communicate with all my relatives,” she said. “And I would
like to thank the Italian American Club for the honor of being chosen Miss Columbus 2019.”

Bell Heating & Air Conditioning
boasts family legacy
BY BOB DUMAS
EDITOR
Keith Bell’s vocational destiny was in the cards
from the very start. His grandfather was a
“boiler man,” and his father, Alfred, followed
suit, becoming a heating, ventilation and air conditioning
(HVAC) technician.
“My dad learned about boilers from my grandfather,”
said Bell, a longtime Mahopac resident and owner of Bell
Heating & Air Conditioning.“But my father also wanted
to learn about that new-fangled technology back in the
’50s called air conditioning. He went to City College and
got his associate’s degree.”
After working for other companies in White Plains,
Alfred Bell decided to head out on his own. In 1980, he
started his own business in his garage. Five years later, he
built a new building at 200 Route 6 in Mahopac, which
is where Bell Heating & Air Conditioning still stands
today.

While the business was still in that garage, as early as 14 years old, Keith would help
out during the summers building ductwork. But when he graduated high school, it
wasn’t a foregone conclusion that he’d be following in his father’s footsteps and join the
business.
“When you’re young, you are kind of a rebel,” he said with a laugh. “It wasn’t my life-
long goal, but the more I learned about the industry, the more I began to appreciate it.”
Keith Bell went to Manhattan College and got a degree in mechanical engineering and
found a job in mechanical contracting. He soon got his professional engineer (PE) license.
