e crucial stop sealed a 7-6 victory against Yorktown, the Indi-

ans’ rst win against the Huskers since April 3, 2010.
e victory ended John Jay’s 15-game losing streak to the Husk-

ers and also Yorktown’s 26-game winning streak against Section 1
opponents.

“To defeat a team that’s nationally ranked and that has been
beating us for eight straight years is an accomplishment,” Adamec
said. “We will see them again in May and they will be a di erent
team, so with this win o our back we can get back to business and
play our ball one by one this year.”

A goal with 1:17 left in the opening half by Yorktown’s Jamison
Embury (4G) cut the Indians’ halftime lead to 4-3.

“It’s de nitely big to score before halftime to
bring momentum through to the second half,” Em-
bury said. “Down by two and to score to bring it
within one always huge and gives us a better chance
to win the game come second half.”

Embury scored the rst two goals of the second
half, the second coming with 3:55 remaining in the
third quarter, to give Yorktown its rst lead, 5-4.

“I saw them playing a little bit of a zone so once
Shane Dahlke got the ball I crept up from X, caught
it and buried it low and away,” Embury said. “It felt
great to have the lead for rst time but we have to
capitalize on our opportunities and x up our mis-
takes.”

Charlie Horan tied it at 5-5 for John Jay (2-1)
with 1:40 remaining in the third quarter. Bryce Ford
then scored 1:52 into the nal quarter to give the
Indians back the lead at 6-5.

John Jay’s Jack Gorman, with 8:18 left and Yor-
ktown’s Hunter Embury, with 1:39 remaining, ex-
changed goals to nish the game’s scoring.

John Jay’s omas Beeby (1G, 1A), Dean Ford (1G), Sean No-
lan (1G) and Michael Minard (1G) and Yorktown’s Blake Borges
(1G), Dahlke (1A), Justin Comerford (1A) and Louis Ragusa (7
saves) also contributed to their team’s e orts.

“John Jay is a good team, very talented, and we are extremely
excited to hopefully meet them again in playo s,” Jamison Em-
bury said.

More important than the game, the spotlight was properly
shined on Conner Curran.

Curran is a seven-year old from Ridge eld, Conn., who’s ght-
ing Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His parents, Chris and Jessica
Curran, are John Jay graduates who created the non-pro t Kind-
ness Over Muscular Dystrophy to help nd a cure for the disease.

KOMD helmet stickers and warm-up shirts were worn by both
teams.

Yorktown (4-2) also hosted and defeated Bridgewater Raritan
15-7 on April 3.
