for what seemed like the hundredth time that morning. Finally, I reached the
bottom of the bricked stairs; above me stood the most magnificent wooden
door, carved into the old tree. I had heard far-fetched stories of what lay
beyond that door and I was anxious to find out for myself what exactly was
behind it . . .
