Through our curriculum and training created by behavior and inclusion experts, our coaches can modify the game and skills so that every kiddo can improve. 7 Youth Field Hockey Skills & Drills Tuesday’s April 25th-May 30th Grades 1st-5th 4:00pm-5:00pm Location: Devoll Field Fee: $100.00 Grades 1-5 Learn the game of field hockey during this 6-week program. Great opportunity to learn individual skills and play small games. Basic field hockey skills will be taught by experienced field hockey coaches. All skill levels are welcome Shin guards, mouthguard and stick necessary Summer Track & Field Program: Come join the inaugural season of Canton Youth Track and Field!! Children entering grades 1-6 will work with experienced coaches from high school level and college-level athletes for this fun introduction to all things track and field. The program will introduce young athletes to new and exciting events every week, from jumping and throwing to running and hurdling! Experienced coaches tailor all activities and events to the specific ages of the athletes, and children will be able to see their progress in their own strength and speed every week. The summer will culminate in our very own championship track meet where children can show off all that they have been working on in a fun and competitive environment. All classes are taught in a fun, energetic, positive environment with focus on, How to Behave in A Classroom Situation, Basic Karate Skills, Improvement of Gross Motor Skills, Sharing, Cooperation, Improvement on Overall Fitness, Following Instruction and Rules, Improving Self Confidence and Having Fun!!! All classes are taught by professional Black Belt Master Instructors with over 25 years’ experience in teaching children the Martial Arts. Our Introduction to Karate program for children is a great way to help youngsters achieve greater social, physical, mental and emotional growth. Karate teaches discipline, the rewards of long-term commitment and dedication to a craft, camaraderie, respect and self-confidence. 9 Let’s Paint Club Seasonal Painting Projects First Tuesday of Each Month! Ages 5-12 6:00pm-7:00pm Location: Armando Center Rm 200 Fee: $25.00 per class Classes fill quick! Lets Paint Program: It's an instructor led session on 11”x14” canvas with acrylic paint. Each session is about 60 minutes of activity. I will provide foldable tables and chairs (if needed), art supplies, music, and fun. Please pack each child a water bottle and nut free snack (for the periodic pauses to allow the paint to dry). During the session, the children will be following along with me as we paint. At the end of the session, each child will have their own artistic 11”x14” painting to keep. Let’s Cook Program: Let’s Paint Club has partnered with professional chef, Casey Lovell to create ‘Let’s Cook!” Casey J Lovell is a 35 year old from Vermont. His passion for food started at a very young age in the kitchen with mom. Casey’s culinary journey has taken him all over the country and returned home to Boston where he was the Executive Chef at Bar Mercato. Being able to cook is not only a life skill but a great way to be creative. Children will learn kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements like leadership, respect, team work, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination and cultural awareness. There are lots of smiles, moving and music! Ages 5-10 years old welcome. What’s It All About! This program continues with LEGO Learn to Learn curriculum and focuses on STEM based activities, critical thinking, and problem solving. 11 There is no better feeling than knowing when you have a half-day of school! And to make things even more sweet, we have created the Middle School Half Day Field Trip Program. Now on those early release days, you can join the Recreation Staff for a fun filled day at some of the best entertainment centers around. Our trips leave directly from the Galvin Middle School at 12pm and return at 5pm! Each trip is different, so be sure to keep your eyes open for details as we plan each adventure! 13 Home Alone Training Course Home Alone Training Friday, April 28th Grades 3-5 12:00pm-1:30pm Location: Armando Center Fee: $55.00 What its all about! Take the first steps towards independence. Learn how to call 911, learn about choking prevention and relief, accident and fire protection, and basic first aid. We’ll watch an instructional video, discuss how to manage your time when you’re home alone for short periods, and explore scenarios through role-playing. Grades 3-5. Join us for a Babysitting workshop and get CPR/AED certified, too! We'll cover how to react responsibly to medical emergencies, perform first aid for common childhood injuries, how to best call 911 and how to prevent and relieve choking. You'll be prepared to interview for a babysitting job, select safe activities for children of different ages and run your own babysitting business. You'll leave with a certificate of completion for babysitting, a First Aid book, and upon successful completion, you'll also be certified in CPR/AED. 17 Baseball Clinic @ Gibson Field Canton High School July 17th—July 20th (rain day July 21st) Monday-Thursday 9:00am-3:00pm Grades: 3rd-8th Fee: $220.00 Baseball camp welcomes all ages and skill levels. These four days will be dedicated to top level instruction covering all baseball fundamentals. We will be organizing daily baseball games and instructional drills. Campers will have the self-assurance to play with confidence, whether they’re stepping onto the diamond for the first time or have been playing for years and want to hone their skills. Our expert coaches, led by Michael Boen of Canton Athletics, will instruct beginners in the basics of throwing, catching and hitting, while fine-tuning experienced players’ abilities so they master their positions. Basketball camp will concentrate on developing skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense. Campers will learn and practice these techniques with drills, stations, and live games. We encourage kids of any age and skill level to sign up for this camp! Join Coach Michael Boen of Canton Athletics for this summers basketball camp! Coach Boen, with the assistance of his players and coaching staff, will help kids to develop a love of playing basketball, while also having fun! Every camper will be held to a high standard involving sportsmanship. Basketball Clinic @ Galvin Middle School Gymnasium July 24th—July 28th Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:00pm Grades: 3rd-8th Fee: $250.00 Softball Clinic @ Walsh Field Canton High School June 26th—June 28th Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday 9:00am-12:00pm Grades: 4th-8th Fee: $85.00 Whether you are a first time softball players, or an experienced player looking to hone in on some of your skills, this softball program has something for everyone to learn. The clinic will be taught by Coach Sandy Lombardi! With the help of her experienced players and coaching staff, she will touch on the fundamentals of the game with emphasis placed on proper throwing, fielding, baserunning, and hitting. Come join the fun as we kick the summer off with some softball!


18 Viking Sports Ninja Warrior Camp Viking Sport August 7th—August 11th Ages 7-15 9:00am-3:00pm Location: Galvin Middle School Fields Fee: $255.00 Ninja Warrior Your kids will stay active at the Viking Ninja Warrior Camp! This high energy camp is where boot camp meets Ninja warrior. At these camps, kids engage in a variety of activities that improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and agility. During each day, kids will learn and practice specific sets of exercises that will help them tackle the Viking Ninja Warrior obstacle course at the conclusion of each day. Athletes will find themselves leaping from the ascending plyo boxes, bounding between quintuple steps, and even scaling the wall located in our ENORMOUS obstacle bounce house! Fitness is made fun by supportive coaches who engage the campers ensuring everyone stays on task and improves. All Viking campers receive a T-shirt and trophy! Our goal for every camper is to make sure they have the most fun ever in a safe environment. No screens. Just lots of sports, games, running around, and tons of fun! At all of our Multi-Sport Camps, the week concludes with Tournament Day! All Viking campers will receive a Viking T-shirt and trophy!


19 Cheerleading Camp @ Luce School August 21—August 25 Monday-Friday 9:00am-12:00pm Ages 5-11 Fee: $150.00 Canton Youth Cheerleading Camp is a 5 day camp where children have the opportunity to learn about cheerleading through preparing and performing for their showcase at the end of the week. Coached by the Canton High School Varsity Cheer Team, campers will participate in small group and whole camp activities. Participants must be Canton residents. All skill levels are welcome! All participants will be given a t-shirt, pom poms and a bow.


20 Top Secret Science: Summer Camp Programs Spectacular Hands On Science (Grades 1-5) August 21st-August 25th 9:00am-3:00pm @ Metropolis Ice Rink Fee: $290.00 Come join this very cool and fun elementary school summer program! Over the past 25 years, Top Secret Science (www.TopSecretScience.org) has worked hands-on with over 1,200,000 local children. Each day the kids will explore 20 weird and wacky hands-on science experiments and will make and take home all the projects. The scientists are fast paced and funny and your kids will be thoroughly entertained (they’ll even learn some interesting things too). We will explore weird motions and flying things, air and water pressure; crazy chemistry, light and sound, science magic, electricity, magnets, astronomy and more. Be prepared for lots of fun stuff. Circuit-Lab: Summer Camp Programs App Inventors + Hands on Electronics (Grades 4-7) @ Metropolis Ice Rink 9:00am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-4:00pm (Half Days): $190.00 9:00am-4:00pm (Full Day): $345.00 July 31st—August 4th App Inventors In this no-experience required course, we use MIT App Inventor software to make fun, creative apps for Android phones and tablets. We will also explore wireless communication by building custom bluetooth hardware controllers and readouts for our apps. Participants will learn both the programming and design aspects of creating great apps, and have the opportunity to build apps of their own with the support of Circuit Lab instructors. Hands on Electronics Tinker with electronics while learning the basics of computer programming. We begin by experimenting with the fundamentals of electronics and circuitry, and step up to projects where our class of young makers will design their own interactive and programmable devices.


21 That Classic Camp Feel! Since 1972, Pequitside Day Program has provided children with the opportunity to enjoy their summer days with the Canton Parks and Recreation staff! Participants will participate in arts and crafts, sports, and games based on a variety of popular themes! The staff creates a fun experience for all participants with an emphasis on teamwork and community building! The program is located at Pequitside Farms and the participants utilize the athletic fields, playground and beautiful trails on this unique property. The Edge provides a variety of experiences that meet the unique needs and interests of middle school participants. Each day consists of trips that include outdoor activities and regional attractions. 26 Summer LIT Program The summer Leader- In-Training Program is an opportunity for students ages 12-13 to join the Canton Parks & Recreation summer community! This leadership program is meant to help guide individuals into the working world. Participants will give hands on experience working with each camp offered through the recreation department. Leading as “CITs” these participants will be introduced to the ins and outs of being a staff member for the Recreation department. Participants will be given a schedule for the week. Some days you may be with the Pequitside Day Camp, others you may be with Blast Off or Playground. But don’t worry! Campers in the LIT program will be led by our LIT team coordinator to make sure any and all questions are answered! LIT participants will join our Edge Camp for a field trip twice a week! On the alternate days they will get to enjoy being a leader in one of our several summer day camp!
