TOURING Metallica Reschedules & Cancels

Tour Dates Due to Coronavirus, Adds
Fall Festival Show

Danny Wimmer Presents has canceled all spring festivals the band was
scheduled to headline.

Metallica is rescheduling their April tour dates and will no longer appear at the
Danny Wimmer Presents spring festivals, due to the spreading coronavirus, it was
announced Monday (March 23).The iconic rock band had been scheduled to perform
at DWP’s Epicenter May 1-3 in North Carolina, Welcome to Rockville May 8-10 in
Florida and Sonic Temple May 15-17 in Ohio.

“As many of you know, in our nearly forty years of touring, we’ve had a few mishaps
along the way; broken bones, trashed appendixes, a pyro mishap, backs thrown out,
crazy weather, food poisoning (beware of the oysters!) and even one way next-level
anxiety attack! None of it has ever stopped us, but this is obviously a very different
time and leaving the house now literally means taking your life in your hands,” the
band said in a release. “Unfortunately, in these surreal times that means we have
to stay away from each other for the foreseeable future before we can start thinking
about ‘Tallica family reunions around the world.” Metallica was scheduled to perform
in Chile, Argentina and Brazil throughout the month of April, but has moved the six-
date trek to December. Tour support Greta Van Fleet has committed to attending
the December dates once they are rescheduled, though the venues may change.

For fans in the United States, Metallica apologized for being unable to play the DWP
festivals due to their cancellation, but said that they are still scheduled to play
Louder Than Life in Louisville, which has now added a fourth day to the event and
will run Sept. 17-20. Fans who bought tickets to the festival will have access to the
newly added dates.“We are crushed to say that Epicenter, Welcome To Rockville
and Sonic Temple are being canceled due to the governmental restrictions on mass
gatherings,” DWP said about the festival cancellations in a release. “We respect these
directives and recognize they are in the best interest of the greater good, as well as
the health and safety of our fans, musicians, partners, and staff. Before accepting
this fate, we worked really hard to try to reschedule the festivals. Unfortunately,
scheduling conflicts, venue availabilities and a number of other factors out of our
control made postponing impossible. Make no mistake, each of these festivals will
return in May 2021 bigger and stronger than ever!”

Ticketholders for the three cancelled festivals can seek a full refund from DWP, apply
the ticket to the festival’s 2021 edition or exchange it for a pass to another DWP
festival still scheduled to take place this year, including Louder Than Life, Bourbon
& Beyond, Hometown Rising and Aftershock.
“We have also arranged for many of the bands from Sonic, Epicenter and Rockville to
play at Louder Than Life and will be announcing that as soon as we feel appropriate,”
DWP added. “Because we were not able to reschedule the Spring festivals, we want
Louder Than Life to be an inclusive celebration of all of those festivals. It’s not a
perfect solution, but these are imperfect times. It is our sincere hope that we are all
able to heal together with massive celebrations this Fall.”
Due to uncertainty surrounding the containment of coronavirus, for the time being,
DWP said it will hold off on announcing lineups or putting passes on sale for its
remaining festivals.

RISE OF
TRAP

scarlxrd concert in

METALauckland in 2019

Trap Metal is an explosive genre that combines elements of rap and metal together for an
extremely energetic and blood pumping combination.
Rap metal originated from rap rock, a genre fusing vocal and instrumental elements of hip
hop with rock. The genre’s roots are based both in hip hop acts who sampled heavy metal
music, such as Beastie Boys, MC Strecker Cypress Hill, Esham and Run–D.M.C. and rock
bands who fused heavy metal and hip hop influences, such as 24-7 Spyz and Faith No More.
Scott Ian of Anthrax (who helped pioneer the genre) believes Rage Against the Machine
invented the genre. However, Urban Dance Squad (formed in 1986), fused rap and metal
before Rage Against the Machine, although Rage Against the Machine is considered to have
refined the sound, giving rap rock an edginess and grit that would define the genre for years
to come
but around year of 2000-2010 the genre popularity decreasing rapidly due to some of trap
metal artist such as inkin park and many more are
slowing down because of break up and etc
Trap metal popularity is nearly reach it peak until
2016 the genre is getting the recognition it deserved.
XXXTENTACION rose to fame very quickly with the success of
his song “Look At Me” and the “Free X” movement when he
was in jail back in 2016. X is who popularized Trap Metal. X’s
Trap Metal material has an intentional lack of polish to it,
relying heavy on distorted bass and rough mixing, which
to X, makes the sound more genuine. X has noted Kurt
Cobain, Three Days Grace & Papa Roach as being some of
his biggest influences, which explains his incredibly raw,
emo and aggressive sound. X is one of if not the first artist
to ever truly delve into Trap Metal and consistently make music
based around the genre. I’m sure most of you have already heard
some of X’s popular/recent material (17 & ?) but his older Trap Metal
material is definitely worth checking out if you’ve never listened to it

Stop Staring at
the Shadows
$UICIDEBOY$
Released February 14, 2020

The underground’s favourite hip-hop duo have
done it once again. Undoubtably considered one
of the most popular acts within the below-surface
rap scene, $uicideboy$ have been building a huge
cult following since 2014. The much anticipated
release of their recently new album, ‘STOP
STARING AT THE SHADOWS’, has landed itself
some interestingly mixed opinions from die-hard
GreyFiveNine fans. At 11 tracks with a sharp 24
minute run-time, I’m more than keen to dive in.

The album is unleashed with “All Dogs Go To
Heaven” as the starting track, accompanied by a
recurring synth rhythm that sounds as if it belongs
in a retro arcade game. Still, this nostalgic feel
is counteracted by the room-shaking trap bass,
accompanied by Ruby da Cherry’s melodic vocals
which flow expertly with $crim’s growly ones.
Swiftly followed up by “I Wanna Be Romanticized”,
a fast-paced yet sulky beat in which the New
Orleans duo address the heavy topic of finding
themselves ‘on the verge of suicide’.

The third track, “One Last Look At The Damage”,
noticeably contrasted against the second. The
lyrical content is unusually positive- ‘I f*cking
made it to thirty without my legs breaking’-
alongside an upbeat, carefree melody. “[whispers
indistinctly]”, however, is an entirely melancholic
trap-synth work of art. The trademark grimey
rapping of $crim combined with Ruby’s hypnotic
chanting about death and being buried beneath
a cherry tree creates an equal divide of shining
talent in this track. This one is definitely my
favourite out of the eleven.

Another track that I particularly favoured My personal least favourite of the album,
is “MEGA ZEPH”. The rapping style holds “Bizarro”, is most certainly ‘full of drugs’–
similarities to Ghostemane (whom codeine, cocaine, the list goes on. It’s not so

System of a Down Postpone
Shows with Faith No More
and Korn Due to COVID-19
Pandemic

System of a Down’s highly anticipated two-night
stand with Faith No More and Korn at Los Angeles’
Banc of California Stadium has been postponed due
to the coronavirus pandemic.

The concerts, set to take place May 22nd and 23rd,
were also slated to feature Helmet and Russian
Circles. The full roster made for an impressive
lineup of celebrated rock and metal acts, billed as
“Five Bands, Two Nights of Galactic Proportions.”
The bands jointly promised that the shows would
be rescheduled, issuing the following statement:

“Our upcoming Banc of California stadium shows
on May 22 & 23 are proactively being rescheduled
out of an abundance of caution for our fans, crew,
and venue staff. As soon as we have the new dates
finalized, we will inform everyone, and all tickets
will be honored accordingly. For further ticket
information, visit livenation.com/ticketrelief or
your point of purchase.”

The initial tease of the Los Angeles shows stirred
up much excitement when fans speculated that
the three marquee bands would be announcing a
full tour. While it only ended up being two shows in
Los Angeles, Faith No More and Korn did announce
a co-headlining summer tour a short time later.
The North American outing is scheduled to kick off
in early August, with no updates yet regarding its
status. The decision to reschedule the L.A. shows
is unsurprising as dozens of tours, concerts, and
festivals have been postponed or canceled due to
the COVID-19 pandemic. Keep up to date on the
latest announcements with this list of affected
events.
