WHY NICARAGUA?

In 2019, the poverty rate in Nicaragua realized the
most significant increase in 14 years—a situation
that that was further aggravated by the COVID-19
pandemic in 2020. With close to half of the
population plunged into poverty and the entire
country impacted by the virus, Nicaragua was dealt
another blow in November. Two major hurricanes
less than two weeks apart left the destruction of
homes, infrastructure, and crops in their wake,
accelerating the need for essential services such as
water and food, and most importantly, a need for
hope as the country faces a long-term recovery.
