designer best known for her timeless,
spacious, natural design style. Drawing
inspiration from many creative corners -- from
Joseph Dirand to Patti Smith, Rick Owens, and
the wonderful organic shapes and textures of
nature itself -- Julia creates interiors that feel
both peaceful and alive.
In the design process, Julia considers all things
thoroughly, including the desired mood,
functionality, the colors cast by natural light,
and a client’s personality. Each project begins
with an in-depth interview with the client to
ensure the functional needs and aesthetic
preferences are well understood.
Julia is available for major and minor interior
design projects, including renovations. She is
also available for hourly design consultations,
which can be conducted in person anywhere
in Los Angeles, or via Skype from anywhere in

Sample Kitchen This kitchen had low ceilings and low light exposure, so we needed to
come up with a design that would infuse the room with more light and
create a sense of space. We chose a powdery white paint for the walls,
white lacquer base cabinetry, and heavily-veined calacutta counter tops
— all to help reflect light. We then brought in contrast and texture with
deep blacks and walnut wood accents. We adhered closely to our color
palette to achieve the peaceful, timeless atmosphere of this kitchen.

Sample Master Bath Like with the kitchen renovation, our task with the master bathroom in this home
was to improve the presence of natural light, increase a sense of space, and create a
feeling of calm through clean and simple lines. Adhering to the overall color palette
for the project, we anchored the bathroom with large black honed tiles and a dark
tub, created custom cabinetry with the same ebonized oak we used in the kitchen,
and built counters and walls with the same veiny porcelain marble slabs. We made
wall-to-wall custom mirror cabinetry for this room, and brought the mirrors all the way
up to the ceiling beams to enhance the height of the room. We did the same with the
marble slabs that run the height of the shower walls. We also tore down the wall that
once framed the side of the shower and replaced it with clear glass to further achieve
the now open, airy feel of this room.

Sample Kid’s Room
We felt the best way to make use of the high slanted ceiling in
this small room was to build a sleeping loft where our client’s
daughter could tuck herself away and overlook her room as if
from a magical treehouse. This increase in floor space allowed
us to also build her a custom daybed that serves as a sofa in
the daytime and an extra bed for sleep-overs at night. Under
the loft, we built her a custom desk so that it would fit perfectly
in the space, and under the stairs to the loft we built in shelves
and cubbies to organize her school work and her toys.

Yoga & Meditation This client is a yogi, so we chose a room in her house to build a quiet
Room with Bathroom sanctuary for her practice. We replaced the original dark brown tile
flooring with warm, grey-washed reclaimed walnut and put a light grey
paint on the walls. We built a custom yoga wall with brass accents, added
antique embellishments for character, and installed custom drapery made
of soft white linen. In the bathroom, both the counter and shower were
updated with marble and glass, and open shelving replaced the heavy
cabinetry previously offered.

We had this these outdoor furnishings made
custom by local artisans in Los Angeles using
beautiful and durable ipe wood. The low
outdoor cosktail table is complete with an ice
trough to chill wine and other beverages.
