How to use Past Continuous

How to use Past Simple or Past Continuous
เหตุการณ์หนึ่งกำลังเกิดขึ้นในอดีต (Past
Past Simple or Past Continuous Con.) และมีอีกเหตุการณ์เข้ามาแทรก
We often use the past continuous and (Past Sim.) หลักการจำง่าย ๆ คือ Past
the past simple in the same sentence. Con ดำเนินอยู่ Past Sim เข้ามาแทรก
The action in the past simple is short
and usually unexpected. It interrupts คำบอกเวลา
the “longer” action which is usually in Past Con. – while, as (ขณะที่)

When we have a sentence in past การใช้คำบอกเวลาจะใช้ในประโยคใด
simple and another in past continuous ประโยคหนึ่ งเท่านั้น
we often use when and while,
but we have to take into consideration
the following rules.

While we were sitting at the stadium, the rain began.
When I arrived at his house, he was cooking lunch.

Negative
She couldn’t hear the doorbell because her brother was playing drums loudly.
He wasn’t listening when the teacher gave the instructions to him.
