Fundraising Policy VERSION CONTROL Version No 4 Version Date March 2023 Next Scheduled Review April 2025 POINT is a Registered Charity: 1161596

From October 2020, POINT will summarise key policy amendments in the form of the revision table below. This acts as a reference guide to any updates made to policies including legislative changes. Version Number Date of approval Summary of key policy changes from previous version 3 March 17th 2021 • GDPR • Core values • Volunteers fundraising standards

For the purpose of this policy a Team Member is defined as any individual who fulfils a paid or voluntary role for the charity. This includes employees, volunteers and trustees. POINT is committed to its charitable aims and fundraises in order to deliver services that provide Information, Advice, Support and Opportunities to families of Children and Young people with additional needs and disabilities aged 0-25. Our Approach UK fundraising practice must follow the relevant legislation – set out in the Charities Acts, other relevant legislation and local government by-laws. Fundraising is regulated in England and Wales by the Fundraising Regulator which holds the Code of Fundraising Practice for the UK and which makes sure all fundraising is legal, open, honest and accountable. POINT is committed to responsible fundraising practice so we are registered with the Fundraising Regulator and have signed up to the fundraising promise to ensure that we meet the highest standards in all fundraising activities and fully comply with the Fundraising Regulator's Promise to be open, honest, fair and legally compliant. When does this policy apply? As a Point Team Member involved in any activity to raise funds for POINT, or for other charities as part of POINT activity, you must follow this policy. Fundraising activity includes all activities covered by the Code of Fundraising Practice. This policy seeks to cover the ethical issues and social responsibility within fundraising. All POINT Team Members involved in fundraising are expected to comply with the Code of Fundraising Practice and have a responsibility to be aware, and have a thorough understanding, of the ethical issues referred to in this policy. The following core values support all standards in this policy: • Legal: All fundraising will meet the requirements of the law • Open: POINT will be open with the public about our processes and is willing to explain, where appropriate, if they are asked for more information • Honest: POINT will act with integrity and will not mislead the public about the cause they are fundraising for or the way a donation is used • Respectful: POINT will always demonstrate respect whenever they have contact with and member of the public or donor. This policy does not apply to members of the public or organisations that decide to raise funds for POINT outside of the control of POINT. Supporters

POINT respects the rights of its supporters and will: • Provide clear, truthful information about the work of POINT. • Openly report how POINT spend donated and statutory monies; and • Manage donors' information responsibly. POINT will comply with the Charity Commission and UK law in every respect, including those regarding openness and honesty with our supporters and members of the public. As members of the Fundraising Regulator's scheme, POINT follow the Fundraising Promise and the Fundraising Code of Practice, which helps to ensure that organisations raising money for charity from the public do so honestly and properly. POINT ensures that it meets all requirements relating to data protection, including: • The Data Protection Act 2018 • The General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] • Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 including TPS POINT will respect the privacy and contact preferences of all donors. POINT will respond promptly to requests to cease contact. In the event of a complaint POINT will respond in line with the charity’s Complaints Policy. To make a request for POINT to cease contact, or to make a complaint, please contact us using the information at the end of this policy. Specific Fundraising Methods POINT will always state the charity’s name and that it is registered with the charity commission on all fundraising notices, advertisements and documents issued by POINT or authorised on our behalf. POINT will always give the name of the charity and contact details on all authorised fundraising materials. All guidance, information and support given to volunteers who are involved in fundraising for POINT will be adequate and relevant to the nature of the relationship. All requests for donations must make it clear that the person soliciting the donation is doing so . ‘on behalf of’ or ‘in aid of’ POINT POINT will always make sure that the Team Member’s fundraising method is appropriate before they commence their activity and where possible a manager should be asked for authorisation before any fundraising activity is commenced or contributions are solicited. (It is recognised that some contributions may be solicited in an ad-hoc or opportunistic way) POINT will make sure that there are proper arrangements in place for donations raised to be transferred to the charity quickly and efficiently. Volunteers will not be paid, but the charity can refund volunteers’ expenses. All reasonable steps will be taken to make sure that volunteers keep to POINT’S high standards when raising and handling donations.

Wherever possible Point will acknowledge receipt of any donations. Refusals POINT abide by the law which requires us, in deciding whether to accept or refuse a donation, to consider which action is in the charity's best overall interest. POINT will not undertake business with companies or individuals who participate in activities which could cause detriment to the charity's reputation or enter any opportunity which could disproportionately decrease the amount of donations to further the work of the charity. All donations with a value of more than £500 must be reviewed by the POINT Business Manager to ensure it is appropriate to accept. The responsibility of the judgement on whether POINT should refuse a donation lays with POINT’s Board of Trustees. Use of donations POINT will always inform supporters how their donation will be used. This will ensure that our fundraising activities are transparent at all times. What you should do if someone has a complaint about fundraising It’s our aim that everyone who donates to POINT has an extremely positive experience. But we understand that sometimes this may not happen and supporters may not be happy with their experience. If this happens you should report any complaints in line with the complaints policy. As a Team Member, if you have a serious concern about Point’s fundraising practice you should inform POINT in line with the Whistleblowing Policy. Examples of the types of concern you might raise under the whistleblowing policy (as opposed to complaints) are: Criminal offences Breach of any legal or professional obligation Breach of the Fundraising Code of Practice Deliberately concealing any of the above If you have concerns about fundraising practice, and can’t resolve your concerns within POINT you should share them with the Fundraising Regulator.
