Total energy usage in a day / kWh 39.76
(a) Estimate the energy usage in kWh for 30 days
39.76 × 30 = 1192.80
(b) Base on your home electricity bill, complete the following table (with the relevant
information):
Tariff block (kWh) Prorated block Rate (RM) Amount (RM)
(kWh) 0.218 43.60
0.334 33.40
200 200 (200 × 1.00000) 0.516 154.80
0.546 73.35
100 100 (100 × 1.00000) 307.15
300 300 (300 × 1.00000)
300 138
Total
(c) Compare the estimated cost for one month with the real cost of the electricity usage found in
your monthly bill.
The amount of estimated cost for one month is higher than the real cost of the electricity
usage found in my monthly bill.
Discussion:
1. Identify the electrical appliance in your home that consumes the highest electrical energy.
a) Refrigerator
b) Air conditioner
2. Suggest steps to reduce the cost of electricity consumption in your home.
a) Reduce the usage of air conditioner at night. For example, switch it on for 3-5 hours only
b) Make sure all the lamp are closed when they are not in used.
c) Unplug the plug when they are not in used as I usually left it there after using it.
