The Author And Her Background ‘Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is J.K.Rowling 6 th novel in the Harry Potter series. She planned to write this book for many years, but she spent 2 months revisiting her plan before she start writing the story. She started to write the book before her second children David was born. But she took a break from writing to take care David. On 21st December 2004, she had finished writing it with the release Date 16 July 2004. Her publisher, Bloomsbury unveiled the cover on 8 March 2005.
Synopsis: In this book, Harry Potter learns a lot about Lord Voldemort’s past and Harry Potter prepares for the final battle against Lord Voldemort with the help from Albus Dumbledore. But during that time, Volemort returns to power and makes a plan to destroy Harry Potter. The most important themes in Half-Blood are dealing with the nature of good and evil. Dumbledore and those loyal to him represent the good side and characterized by truly good things.
Main Characters/Characteristics
Harry Potter Age: 16 Role: Hero of the book Personality : extremely loyal, moral, loving He is the subject of a prophecy that he and Volemort must one day face each other and battle as one of them doesn’t live while the other does. He attempts to maintain a normal school life while simultaneously bearing the enormous weight of his destiny.
Albus Dumbledore Role: Headmaster of Hogwarts Dumbledore is extraordinarily wise and trusting and an extremely powerful wizard. Apart from Harry , Dumbledore is Voldemort’s only other archenemy. He operates with integrity, grace and surprising humour.
He was once a student at Hogwarts named Tom Riddle, now a force of extreme evil. Voldemort is supported by a cabal of Death Eaters who perform his bidding. Like Harry, He was raised as an orphan and was brought to Hogwarts by Dumbledore. Lord Veldemort Role: An evil villain of the book
He can easily block Harry’s spells and jeeringly points out Harry’s mistakes, but never strikes back. During the confrontation, he reveals himself as the eponymous “ Half-blood Prince’’ (being the half-blood son of Muggle Tobias Snape and Pure-blood Eileen Prince) Severus Snape Role: a former Death Eater and Longtime professor of Potions at Hogwarts

Moral Value: We may hope Moral Value: We may hope for something to happen in life, but it may not happen the way we want it. And so, we must not make a big deal about how life is not being fair, and we must just accept that everything happens for a reason.
Story Opinion/ Review: I agree that ‘Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince’ is my top favourite in the series, even beating Book 4 ‘The Goblet of Fire’ and the concluding Book 7, ‘The Deathly Hallows’. This book certainly adds mystery to the series, it also answers an incredible number of riddles and gives me grounding I needed to move forward. This book is an exciting read. It was satisfying to see some of the opening Plotlines start to come towards a resolution. I also enjoyed the dark side of the narrative and exploring the dark side of magic that I get into this book.
