All This Spam – A Small Talk With
Semalt

The internet is ooded with spam messages that scum the inboxes of many email accounts. Most of the spam emails
are annoying, and therefore they require deletion or blocking to reduce their consistent popping up to consume
time and energy of the owner of the account.

In this article, Michael Brown, the Semalt Customer Success Manager, shares his speculation about spam emails
that affect most emails users all over the world.

What is Spam Email?

An unsolicited email that drops in the email inbox generally refers to a spam email. A more precise de nition of a
spam email involve copies of the same message sent via email to attempt to force the addressed persons who did
not opt to get the message to receive it anyway. The spam email majorly consists of dubious commercial
advertisements.

Some unsolicited messages do not pass to be spam emails because they do not scam the inbox. An example of these
unsolicited email includes a long-lost contact who pops up one day to say hello via email may become a spam email

that does not cause scam.

Why is It Called Spam?

The term spam is generally believed to originate from the endless reception of the
word spam from the song lyrics "Spam spam spam spam, spam spam spam spam,
lovely spam, wonderful spam," by Monty Python whose words were worthless. Still,
some people associate the term spam email with the University of Southern
California who related the email scam to a meat Spam. Nobody liked meat spam. No
one eats meat spam, and it is always pushed aside when on the table despite being
tasty sometimes just like the 1 percent of spam emails that land the inbox.

The spam messages may scam the inbox because of a subscription made on a website or a company's email listing to
facilitate selected updates. Through the subscription, the user receives graymail which is a typical spam email that
comes by the intentional invitation from the user.

Is Spam a Problem?

Statistics concerning junk emails that become a scam indicate that spam emails cause a lot of problems to the user.
Apart from wasting the time of the user because they always require attention when they land the inbox, the
unwanted emails eat a lot of bandwidth. Despite costing nearest to nothing to the sender, the spam emails can be
costly to the user.

How to Stop Spam

There are many interventions applied online to ght spam messages from
reaching the email inbox. Many individuals and organizations take it as a
serious initiative to restore sanity in their messaging. However, the lack of
regulatory laws on the internet presents the measures as desperate
interventions to eliminate the problem to totality. Instituted policies by
online companies such as a refrain from spamming its subscribers is a step
towards the reduction of scam.

One recommended method of preventing spam messages is by unsubscribing from update information from
websites that do not contribute much to the user. The user can as well opt to deleted and block unwanted messages

ltered as spam.
