Career Pathway 1 - Animator
Skill Requirements for My Chosen Career:
Creative Mindset
When constructing an animation, a plan is needed first, this is often
accomplished by hand on a piece of paper. The creator must be able
to create a storyline and visually explain what’s going on to their
viewers. This requires a very creative mind.
Graphical Skills
Animators must be able to include subtle details as well as including
multiple characters, movement and a variety of backgrounds.
Depending on the job, the artwork may not always be cartoon styled,
it may instead be more realistic. If the required style is realistic then
one must understand realistic proportions and comprehend the
differences between 2D and 3D.
Communication Skills
It is important to have good communication skills so that the
animator can give the customers what they want, it’s also important
to be able to communicate with a client or a design team. This makes
communication a vital aspect of becoming an animator. The anima-
tor must also let their team and customers know of any updates or
change of deadlines.
Teamwork + Individuality
When designing and animating, it is important for an animator
to be able to work alone however, when there are projects that
require multiple animators, teamwork as well as communication is
important.
Maths and Physics Skills
An animator would need to estimate the approximate shadow lines,
in order for light to be projected correctly, the use angles would be
required also.
