A. Introduction
This chapter contains the main material of oral and written texts to provide and ask for
information related to the state of the action / activity / event that occurs regularly or is a general
truth, according to the context of its use. This ability can increase the social intelligence of
students, especially showing concern, respect, and politeness towards others
B. Basic Competence
Learning spiritual attitudes and social attitudes is carried out through indirect teaching, namely
modeling, habituation, and school culture by paying attention to the characteristics of learning,
as well as the needs and conditions of students.
3.7 Applying social functions, text structure, and linguistic elements of oral and written
transactional interactions involving the act of giving and requesting information regarding
conditions / actions / activities / events that are carried out / occur regularly or constitute
general truths, in accordance with the context of their use. (Note the simple present tense
linguistic elements).
4.7 Composing a very short and simple oral and written transactional interaction text that
involves the act of giving and asking for information related to circumstances / actions /
activities / events that are carried out / occur regularly or constitute general truth, taking into
account social functions, text structure and correct linguistic elements and in context

1. Simple Present Tense
It is a form of the verb most commonly used in the English language, which is used
to reveal the factual events and habitual, general or not general, instructs, or plan of
schedule.
Example: I eat three times a day
The sun rises from the east
Pour the hot water into the glass
The cat has four legs
2. Declarative Sentence of Simple Present Tense
Declarative sentence is a sentence in the form of statement, fact, or opinion.
Declarative sentence states the whole thought that it should contain at least :
“subject” + “Predicate”(in the form of verb/ auxiliary verb/ to be) + [object] +
[adjective] + [adverb]
Declarative sentence of Simple Present Tense is a verb tense used to state an
action that happens regularly. It is usually used to state a habit / behavior or a
general fact.
In the simple present tense, most regular verbs use the root form (verb 1),
except if the subject is the third person singular.
a. The positif sentence pattern of Simple Present Tense :
If the subject is the first person singular and plural, the second person singular and
plural, and the third person plural :

If the subject is the third person singular :

b. Negative Sentence of Simple Present Tense
The negative sentence pattern of Simple Present Tense :
If the subject is the first person singular and plural, the second person singular and plural, and
the third person plural :

Example : I don’t get up at four o’clock in the morning.
You don’t read the newspaper everyday.

If the subject is the third person singular :

c. Interrogative Sentence of Simple Present Tense
The interrogative sentence pattern of Simple Present Tense :
YES/ NO QUESTION is a question with two possible responses : “yes” or “no”.

If the subject is the first person singular and plural, the second person singular and plural, and
the third person plural :

If the answer is “YES” = Yes, I do.
If the answer is “NO” = No, I do not. / No, I don’t.
If the subject is the third person singular :

Example : Does she get up at seven on Sunday?
If the answer is “YES” = Yes, she does.
If the answer is “NO” = No, she does not. /*No, she doesn’t.
3. WH- QUESTION in Simple Present Tense
Wh-Question is a question which request information, usually starts with a word beginning
with wh- (e.g: what, who, when etc.) but “how” is also included. Some of the wh-question
starters are :
• What …? = asking for information about something.
• When …? = asking about time.
• Where …? = asking about place/ position.
• Who … ? = asking about which person.
• Why ... ? = asking for reason
• How ... ? = asking about manner, condition or quality

But when the question requests the subject answer, the auxiliary verb “do” and “does” is
not needed.

If the subject is the third person singular :

4. Adverb of Definite Frequency
Adverb of time tells when or for how long or how often an action happens or is the case.
Adverb of definite frequency appears at the end of sentence. e.g :
• I go to school at 6.15 a.m. everyday.
• We drink tea every morning
• She washes the dishes twice a day.
• The plane flies to Morotai every Wednesday

5. Adverb of Indefinite Frequency
Adverb of frequency is used to tell how frequent something happens.
Adverb of frequency appears between subject and predicate.
Pattern : subject + adverb of frequency + main verb
