Juice Recipe

Wa t e r m e l

Whether you just came inside from a hot day or are enjoying a relaxing afternoon, nothing says summer like watermelon juice run-
ning down your chin. These large fruits are native to the people of Africa and we are very happy that they shared this juicy fruit with
us. Nowadays, we grow our own, but some prefer them without their nutritious seeds. Despite the continuous crunch or stopping to
remove them, watermelon seeds are healthy and should be incorporated into the diet.

Properties

B Vitamins
Watermelon seeds are so rich in B vitamins that they can replace B vitamin supplementation. These vitamins include niacin, folate,
thiamine, riboflavin, vitamin B6 and pantothenic acid. B vitamins are important for the function of the nervous system as well as
the immune system. Fortunately, it is easy to consume the amount of needed watermelon seeds with them being palatable. Roast-
ing them, then drizzling with olive oil and salt, will do just the trick of turning them into a crunchy treat to add to a salad or meal.
We can consume a handful of watermelon seeds (about 56) and only take in 22 calories, making them an easy swap for a less
healthy alternative to potato chips or cookies.
Magnesium
Magnesium is one of the minerals found in the seed of the watermelon. A serving of these seeds will help reach the recommended
intake of 400mg. Magnesium is essential to the body’s metabolic process.
Fatty Acids
According to Saba, almost half of the watermelon seed contain oil which comprises of 20 percent saturated fat and the rest mono-
unsaturated and polyunsaturated fat, including omega-6 fatty acids. One cup of dried watermelon seeds contains around 50 grams
of fat which constitutes about 80 percent of the daily recommended value. Thus, watermelon seeds are an i m p o r t a n t source of

calories and 2energy Health Benefits Diabetes It is said that boiling watermelon seeds and drinking the tea daily can help lower

blood sugar. This may be because the magnesium content in the seeds has a direct effect on the metabolism of carbohydrates.

Amino acids

Watermelon contains many of the essential amino acids we need to consume in our diets, such as tryptophan and glutamic acids.
It is one of the better sources of phenylalanine. Amino acids are crucial to many of the body’s functions. This is a good source of
plant based amino acid.

Other Benefits

Other than supplying needed vitamins and minerals, watermelon can be used to fight against health complications and diseases
such as cystitis, dyspepsia, fever, gonorrhea, and prostate disorders. To treat these conditions: watermelon, pumpkin, gourd, and
cucumber can be bruised and rubbed into the water to form an emulsion.

A call out o

Dear brothers and sisters,
As we see the signs mounting all around us, I want to leave you with some reminders on why it is time to leave the
cities. If you are not already doing so, I want to petition you to seek council from the throne of God as to where and
when you should move. Please continue to pray without ceasing.

Character

The most important reason for country living for developing the character necessary to stand through the final days of
earth’s history. So country living is to develop character. “I urge our people to make it their lifework to seek for spir-
ituality. Christ is at the door. This is why I say to our people, Do not consider it a privation when you are called to
leave the cities and move out into country places. Here there await rich blessings for those who will grasp them. By
beholding the scenes of nature, the works of the Creator, by studying God’s handiwork, imperceptibly you will be
changed into the same image.” {10MR 263.2}
Q: Did Jesus live in the country? Through Jesus were we given an example of how and why to live in the country?
A: “An expensive dwelling, elaborate furnishings, display, luxury, and ease, do not furnish the conditions essential
to a happy, useful life. Jesus came to this earth to accomplish the greatest work ever accomplished among men. He
came as God's ambassador, to show us how to live so as to secure life's best results. What were the condi-
tions chosen by the infinite Father for His Son? A secluded home in the Galilean hills; a household sus-
tained by honest, self-respecting labor; a life of simplicity; daily conflict with difficulty and hardship; self-sacrifice,
economy, and patient, gladsome service; the hour of study at His mother's side, with the open scroll of Scrip-
ture; the quiet of dawn or twilight in the green valley; the holy ministries of nature; the study of creation and provi-
dence; and the soul's communion with God,—these were the conditions and opportunities of the early life of Je-
sus. “ {CL 14.6}
“Instead of the crowded city, seek some retired situation where your children will be, so far as possible, shielded from
temptation, and there train and educate them for usefulness. The prophet Ezekiel thus enumerates the causes that led
to Sodom’s4 sin and destruction: “Pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters;
neither did she strengthen the hands of the poor and needy.” All who would escape the doom of Sodom, must shun
the course that brought God’s judgments upon that wicked city.”—Testimonies for the Church 5:232, 233

of the cities

Freedom
Q: Is there freedom in rural areas?
A: “The time is fast coming when the controlling power of the labor unions will be very oppressive. Again and

again the Lord has instructed that our people are to take their families away from the cities, into the country, where
they can raise their own provisions; for in the future the problem of buying and selling will be a very serious one.
We should now begin to heed the instruction given us over and over again: Get out of the cities into rural districts,
where the houses are not crowded closely together, and where you will be free from the interference of enemies.” —
Letter 5, 1904.

Hotbeds of Iniquity

Let no temporal advantages tempt parents to neglect the training of their children. Whenever possible, it is the duty
of parents to make homes in the country for their children. The children and youth should be carefully guarded.
They should be kept away from the hotbeds of iniquity that are to be found in our cities. Let them be surrounded by
the influences of a true Christian home—a home where Christ abides.—Letter 268, 1906. {CL 12.2}
Before the overflowing scourge shall come upon the dwellers of the earth, the Lord calls upon all who are Israelites
indeed to prepare for that event. To parents He sends the warning cry, Gather your children into your own houses;
gather them away from those who are disregarding the commandments of God, who are teaching and practicing evil.
Get out of the large cities as fast as possible. Establish church schools. Give your children the Word of God as the
foundation of all their education.—Testimonies for the Church 6:195. {CL 12.3}
I am instructed by the Lord to warn our people not to flock to the cities to find homes for their families. To fathers
and to mothers I am instructed to say, Fail not to keep your children within your own premises.—Manuscript 81,
1900. {CL 12.4}
Family, we are warned against acting rashly. Each person or family should study the instruction, think and pray
about it, identify and evaluate the options, and ask God to make His leading clear.
In His service,
