The Importance
of Education
It is out of a disheartened and greatly disappointed soul that i have to sit down scheme
and finally decide to write about the Importance of Education, like seriously!! In this
day age and era, education is never supposed to be an issue to even be considered for
any discussion. But sadly, this is the predicament that we as a nation, cascading down
to the continent at large are facing. Unlike many of my articles, this one is going to
zoom into the importance and effect of education (or lack of it) in our society and
economy.
It is out of a heavy heart gentle reader that I have to roll out some alarming statistics
today just to justify the importance of this animal called education. A third of the
African youth is not educated and how on earth does one expect this dear continent
of ours to develop whilst such a huge chunk of its potential developers is wallowing
and languishing in abject ignorance?!!!! Surely and verily, something should and must
be done to correct this cancerous and intellectually destructive anomaly.
The action point therefore rests among the few that are educated to take it upon their
shoulders and help enlighten and educate those who are uneducated. It takes only you
to create the change that we always wish and want to see happening in our beloved
continent. The onus is on us, the ones who were privileged to go to the University to
take up the initiative and show the world that Africa can do better by It always
seems

I could surely write a book emphasising on the importance of
education as our economy and social development hinges upon it.
Every society that is infested with ignorant people is doomed
surely. It is important to note that the pain of ignorance is felt by
the people around you, so make a difference and embrace
education. Education doesn’t even need one to go to a formal
school or learning institution, NOOOO it only needs one with an
open mind that is willing to learn as you go.

Be the Leader You're
You're a leader, everyone is a leader; in every follower, there's a leader trapped Great
within. Give vent to the leader in you to take his full reign in you. You don't leaders
become a leader's as if it’s an option among other choices, when you become start off
your true self, you naturally be a leader. Leadership is not discovered as it were as great
rather it's developed. Leadership is the inherent capacity of the human spirit to followers
lead, manage and dominate which was placed there at the point of creation for
the purpose and assignment for which men was created. Leadership is
self-development and self-manifestation.
Developing one's leadership capacity is not an option for anyone but a
responsibility to find, live and manifest so as to fulfill your purpose. Let the
leader in you arise. True leadership doesn't exercise dominion over men rather
over nature but on men it's love. For love its love that can reach to the deepest
inner core of men. Lead in love.
You're a leader, dare to believe it because you're. True leadership is born out a
correct self-concept i.e. (self-esteem and self-worth). Self-esteem is your
estimation of your value to God, other fellow men and the world; your
contribution and usefulness to others. Self-love is key to true leadership. It
gives men a cause, a reason for living and a sense of significance that births
meaning and purpose in one’s life.
Leadership is about serving others; expanding yourself to increase the value of
others. Become responsible; first be responsible for yourself then others. Your
capacity and ability to respond to responsibilities lies your opportunity to
develop your leadership capacity. Take up responsibilities, start with the small
ones and grow to the bigger ones. Your leadership capacity maybe hidden in
social, cultural, religious and ideological perceptions that discourage, restrict
and hinder its manifestation. Refuse to be stopped or hindered in developing
the leader in you. Be determined to develop the leader in you
because that's the real you.
Leadership development is training in attitude; an attitude
resulting from a renewed self-concept. Feed your mind with
the positive rich thoughts about yourself, others and the world.
Awaken the leader in you, let the leader in you arise. Become
the leader you're! Now it's your time to lead.
You're a leader!

God Alone Is Divine
I read somewhere that there is a place near Colorado Springs, Colorado where some unusual rock
formations have been given a unique name. These rocks are knowing as The Garden of the Gods. What
a strange name. But that name could well represent the nature of man in this world. In fact, the great
theologian John Calvin once said that the human heart is an idol factory. Within the heart man seeks
to set up rival gods to the One God of the universe. The human heart is at the heart of the matter
concerning who will be god in your life! We used to ask, Is there a God? Now most people are asking,
"Which god works best for me?" In essence, what most people seek is a convenient god, a god who
does not change them but simply makes them feel better.
The God of the Bible is the only true and living God. He is God and God alone!
Deuteronomy 4:34 states that God alone is Lord and beside Him there is no other! In Isaiah 44:8 we
read, "Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my
witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."
There is only one true God! He is God, and God alone. To worship any other is to turn your back on
Him. We can know He is God, and God alone in four ways.
A. Scripture Says This Is True
The Scripture clearly tells us that He is God. This Book was written across a period of 1,500 years by at
least 40 different writers, most of who never knew each other. Yet, it is consistent in every way. It
does not contradict itself. It is one continuous record of God's dealing with man. How has this Book
lasted so long when most books have a life of less than 7 months? Even the great classics remain
popular for only a couple generations. But this Book has endured every attempt to destroy it. How?
Because it is divinely inspired. God has written through His servants. He has protected His Word
through history. He has placed it in your hand so you can know that He is truly God, and God alone.
B. Science Says This Is True
Science? Yes, science. Natural laws are consistent in the Universe. If there were other gods, the
Universe would be a place of inconsistent and conflicting laws. The various gods would compete to
have their way, the same way all human powers compete for control of this earth, its thrones and its
money. Yet, the Universe is one great consistent place of science. These unchanging laws were set up
by God Himself. They reflect one Creator. They reflect one Ruler. They reflect God, and God alone.
Aristotle once said, "The beauty, the order, the harmony, of the Universe is but an expression of the
will of God." Friends, it is not the laws of science but the Lord of science that makes this true!
C. Sin Says This Is True
Sin? Yes, sin points to one God. How? Because sin reveals that some actions, thoughts, words and
deeds are wrong and others are right. If there is no God, then how can anyone say that something is
right or wrong? Why do you feel guilty when you do wrong things or think wrong thoughts? Because
you are transgressing a standard outside of yourself. You are sinning against a higher authority. You
are confessing in your guilty heart that there is a God, and He is God alone.

Championing the role of women for the socio-
political and economic development of our country
by embracing the girl child on and off compass.
One day as I was walking on compass with my colleagues, a seemingly crazy idea just struck
through my mind as we met a compass guy who commented on our beauty and structures and
even invited us for drinks in the evening at a local party just because were looked beautiful! This
got me into thinking deeply as I asked a simple but difficult question to answer “when will men or
even the society realise our potential instead of just looking at our feminine build up and beauty”?
Until today, I find this to be a very difficult bone to swallow, as saddening as it is because the
society still takes and thinks of women as mere accessories of pleasure and just partying, nothing
more, nothing less.
No wonder why the African economy is still in the drains because a huge chunk of its potential is
being side lined to just mere accessories for fun, leisure and pleasure!! I don’t want to sound like a
radical feminist here gentle reader, but it should be noted with great distaste that the mentality of
just seeing the beauty and not the brains and intellectual capacity of women by the society should
and must stop. By the nature of our make up as woman, the world needs us so as to keep the
checks, dynamics and balances of power at par with men.
I am not fighting against men here but I am simply driving a point that the world needs more than
it has now, that is the inclusion of woman in decision making and economic development for it to
become a better world than it is now. On compass, we need to look at ma USA (or whatever you
call us) not with an eye that sees only our body make up and or beauty, but we also want and need
to be treated with respect and the honour that we deserve.
For the nation to learn the importance of championing the role of woman for economic and social
growth, we should pioneer that mentality here on compass, so that the nation at large would take
a leaf from the way CUT treats its ladies and also follows suit. There is a lot of innovation that has
been lost just because woman or female students to be precise were not given the full platform to
showcase their intellectual abilities and capacity without being judged by the society.
It is high time we should see the potential in the girl child and give her the platform to shine. By so
doing, the nation will also reap some benefits from this positive gesture. Some may doubt what I
am saying and as such let me dispel that doubt off their minds by reminding them that the
Youngest Degree holder in Zimbabwe is a woman and the first ever youngest Minister in
Zimbabwe was a lady and to also mention that the youngest legislator in the South African
Parliament today is a lady!! So, you see now, imagine if the platform was given to all woman, were
do you think our economy could be right now? Food for thought!
Let me proudly proclaim that our society and economy surely needs our input as woman for it to
take a better shape. So, for every USA and UBA reading this, this is your chance to stand for what is
right, support the woman next to you and CUT will never be the same again! ADIOS…

CONFESSIONS OF A BLE$$EE
Loving him was never part of the plan but I couldn’t help it and I couldn’t switch off my feelings for
him just like that. Even though I knew that loving him was wrong, like a drug his love and affection
intoxicated me. What was meant to be a ‘no strings attached’ affair turned out to be my worst
nightmare and nothing could save me. Slowly and unknowingly I fell for a guy who would never be

I met Alfred on one of my darkest days. I was struggling to make ends meet on the meagre pocket
money I received from my parents and on this day, my struggle bared its spots for everyone to see. I
was in a local supermarket trying to pay for the few groceries I thought I could afford, or so I thought. I
was confident that the amount left in my account would cover everything only to be surprised when
the transaction was declined. I repeated the process one more time but to no avail. I can’t even explain
the cloud of shame I was engulfed in when I had to leave my groceries in front of all the other
customers. As I waited impatiently for the earth to open up and swallow me, a Good Samaritan
stepped up and offered to pay for the grocery. I let out a huge sigh of relief and packed away the good.
I waited outside for my knight in shining armour. I was blissful that I could
have hugged him but I restrained myself so that I wouldn’t seem like I had a
loose screw. We parted ways and I kept hoping to see his handsome face
again. Fate presented itself and we met again, I felt that it was destiny. We
exchanged numbers this time and we would chat up a storm. He was free as
the wind, warm like a mother’s love and so charming that I fell
head over heels in love with him in just a short space of time. Dates were arranged
every now and then and I felt closer to him that I had ever felt with anyone else. Our
relationship wasn’t sexual but was more intimate than sex. I could tell bare my soul to
him, my feelings, my fears and my dreams and he occupied a part in my heart
that had been empty for too long.

rid of me and move on to the next and that thought scared the hell out of me. I KING~
became his slave as I had to follow all his orders to keep my spot in the game. I
endangered in many ways and my health was at stake all in a bid to keep my
‘blesser’s’ eyes only on me. If he could cheat on his wife with me, what would stop
him from doing the same to me, like I had a say in anything. My life at the
university relied on the ‘blessings’ I got from him.
Truth be told, once you get down this road it’s hard to turn back but it was not too
late. I calculated my moves trying to find the best way to lay him down gently but
with every move I went two steps back. I failed to outsmart him early enough and
he beat me at my own game. I had to face my worst fear. He dropped me like a hot
potato for someone else who was ‘better’. I couldn’t fight his decision but
had to gather up my pride and move on. It was the most painful
experience ever but that was my reality. Like every side dish, there
was always a probability that I would be left untouched or thrown
away. This is my story and I had to gather up courage to spit it out no
matter how deep the wound is.
My only word of advice to every girl is that you should never sell
your dignity for money. You are way better that what meets the
eye. You’re strong and beautiful without any doubt. Aim to
be the best version of yourself and never the second-rate
version of someone else. Never let the sound of others’
opinions drown your inner voice. Never doubt yourself
and remember that the sky is not the limit because
there are footprints on the moon.

THE BEST THING
I NEVER HAD
Days matured into months and months into years but nothing, not even time can wash away memories of
that day. My mind rewinds like a cassette to play the song of that dilemma. A vivid picture of what happened
that day remains stuck at the back of my mind and nothing can brush it off. I can still hear his voice rising an
octave and blood splattered on the velvet coloured wall. Each day is a constant reminder of that and I haven’t
woken up from that nightmare.
William was an able-bodied man with a body men could kill to have and ladies could die for. He was muscular
and averagely tall with a clear resemblance of God’s perfect art. He was light-skinned, handsome and had
an Adam’s apple which completed the look. Judging by the cover, he was the intriguing novel I always wished
to read. Without any warning signs, we moved from friends to lovers. He definitely played his cards right and
made it out of the ‘friend zone’ pretty fast.
A year after we started dating he moved to Canada to further his studies and i was left alone and lonely.
Initially, it came as a blow but as time passed I got accustomed to the situation and disengaged myself from
the sorrow. For the four years, he was away our love grew tremendously to fulfil the age-old adage that
distance makes the heart grow fonder. I was unaware that fate in all its cunning devilry had positioned me
as a helpless pawn in its masterpiece game of chess called life. I was way deep in love to figure out any
warning signs or red flags. Love is really blind.
A spoken word is like a sparrow, once it escapes your orifice you can never
catch it. A few weeks after he jetted in, i
heard through grapevine that he cheated
on me whilst he was staying in one of the
most enticing places in the world. You
can’t believe everything you hear and at
the end of the day love conquers anything, I
thought. I brushed off the idea of him cheating on
me but once the reed of doubt began taking root in my
mind, I began to question his fidelity. I decided to ignore
him at every level of communication as my anger
simmered and stewed. I was literally ‘ghosting’ him. I
was so addicted to his love unknowingly that my heart
just let go and I took him back in.
Life bounced back to normal and everything was flowing
smoothly like a calm river. He proposed with a huge
twelve-carat custom made sparkler and how could I say no
to a man I loved so much that I prayed for him more than I
did for myself. We got married at a posh, intimate and out
of this world ceremony. We had initially planned to
honeymoon in Canada but he waltzed his way out of that by organising one “There was
for Zanzibar. I couldn’t care less where we would go as long as I was with him.
Judging by the way days flitted by, fate had planned our pleasure to be short- absolutely

Our near perfect honeymoon flew by and we jetted back home. We started
our married life in style and we were hot and happening or so I thought. Just him to
after the honeymoon he had a business trip to Canada and I couldn’t go with explain
him as I had my own career to take care of. The intended two weeks
transformed into a month after which ‘he came back’. He was a completely anything”
different person from the one I had known for a greater part of my life. I knew
that there was something he was not telling me but I couldn’t point out what.
I struggled to set my mind straight as I salvaged possible contributing factors
and my thoughts ate me up. I kept my suspicions at bay until one day when
all hell broke loose. I was settling into my office to get the ball rolling when a
package was delivered. I tore off the wrapping to disclose the contents and
baby photos ushered me into the nightmare that was about to unfold. There
was a letter which stated that William was the baby’s father and with just one
glance at the photos I knew it was true. Everything started spinning in my
head and I could only watch as the world crumbled at my feet.
I pinched myself real hard to tear off some skin hoping it
was all a dream. I sweated profusely, became pale
and my lachrymal ducts produced enough tears to
make my eyes sore. I grabbed my framed
wedding photo and smashed it hard on
the floor. A God sent friend walked into
my office and calmed me down before
taking me home. Little did I know that
there was more drama waiting to unfold.
The moment I stepped into the house, I
saw something I struggle to explain even
now. He was stark naked and obviously
not alone. As hard as it was for me to
believe, he was in bed with his supposed
secretary utilising the whole day they
had to themselves whilst I was at
work. I scream so hard that I could
feel the pain in my chest. I was so
hurt more than I had ever been
before. I ran outside barely
affording to hold my tears and felt
like a used sanitary pad stuffed
into a trash bin.
He followed me outside with just a towel
round his waist trying to explain or ask for
forgiveness. There was absolutely no need for him to
explain anything since the photos of his dead ringer
and adorning just his birthday suit whilst in bed with
a woman explained it all. Before he could say
anything to me two policemen walked in with two
foreign looking ladies I had never seen in my entire
life. William was just standing with his mouth wide open, half naked and a more confused than ashamed
facial expression. After staring hard at the ladies for a while I identified the other one I had seen on the baby
photos delivered earlier that day. The other one was then identified as his fully wedded wife and they were
both from Canada. I couldn’t believe my ears more than I could actually believe that he cheated on me.
Before i could digest any of this, the police officers said that he was a wanted criminal in Canada for money
laundering and fraud. ‘Wake me when the movie ends,’ was all I could say amidst all this drama.
Without any hesitation, he admitted to everything. I couldn’t point out what was worse, him cheating on me
or the crimes he committed. I raised my now blotched face to look him in the eye when i heard a gunshot. I
saw blood oozing from his mouth, splattered on the wall and soiling the towel round his waist. He dropped
down dead like a log toppled over. His secretary-cum-mistress had shot him before finishing herself off. I felt
my whole world crushing at my feet and i knew i could not patch up the pieces. My fairy-tale had the worst
ending unlike Cinderella. I lost something i thought i held so tightly in my hand. My only joy was robbed from
me and i was left heartbroken. I can only find peace in telling myself that he was the best thing i never had,
a dream that never came to pass and a song never meant to be sung

Murmur Not!!!
Murmuring is defined as a half-suppressed resentment or muttered complaint. We all remember, in
Fiddler on the Roof, Tovey’s verbal asides to God.
However, just as “a yawn [can be] a silent shout,” so murmuring can be much more than muted
muttering. The real “Addressee” of some of our murmuring is clearly the Lord, as when the people
complained against Moses. (See Ex. 16:8; 1 Ne. 16:20.) At least Tovey honestly acknowledged whom
he addressed.
Murmuring seems to come so naturally to the natural man. It crosses the scriptural spectrum of
recorded complaints. We need bread. We need water. (See Num. 21:5.) “Why did we ever leave
Egypt?” (See Num. 11:20.) “Why did we ever leave Jerusalem?” (See 1 Ne. 2:11.) Most ironically, the
coming forth of more scripture from God was to cause murmuring. (See 2 Ne. 29:8.)
An early scriptural instance of murmuring involved Cain’s offering to the Lord, illustrating how our
intentions are at least as important as our deeds. Cain was “wroth” that Abel’s offering was
acceptable but not his. Sometimes, brothers and sisters, we, too, worry if someone else seems to
be more favoured than we. Worse still, we want to be accepted of the Lord—but on our terms, not
His!
A basic cause of murmuring is that too many of us seem to expect that life will flow ever smoothly,
featuring an unbroken chain of green lights with empty parking places just in front of our
destinations!
In its extremity, murmuring reflects not only the feelings of the discontented, but also the feelings
of the very conflicted.
0“And [yet] they did not come unto Jesus with broken hearts and Contact Marshal On:
contrite spirits, but they did curse God, and wish to die.”
In His parable of the vineyard workers, Jesus noted of disciples how +263 77 600 3261
those who worked from the first hour, having “borne the burden and
heat of the day,” murmured because they received the same wages as
those who worked only the last hour. (See Matt. 20:11–12.) We beggars
are so concerned with our entitlements.
In pondering these and various other examples of murmuring, several
other things become obvious.
First, the murmurer often lacks the courage to express openly his
concerns. If the complaint concerns a peer, the murmurer seldom
follows Jesus’ counsel, “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against
thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall
hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.” (Matt. 18:15.)
Second, murmurers make good conversational cloak holders. Though
picking up no stones themselves, they provoke others to do so.
Third, while a murmurer insists on venting his own feelings, he regards
any response thereto as hostile. (See 2 Ne. 1:26.) Furthermore,
murmurers seldom take into account the bearing capacity of their
audiences.
Fourth, murmurers have short memories. Israel arrived in Sinai, then
journeyed on to the Holy Land though they were sometimes hungry and
thirsty. But the Lord rescued them, whether by the miraculous
appearance by quail or by water struck from a rock. (See Num. 11:31;
Ex. 17:6.) Strange, isn’t it, brothers and sisters, how those with the
shortest memories have the longest lists of demands! However, with
no remembrance of past blessings, there is no perspective about what
is really going on.
Murmuring can also be noisy enough that it drowns out the various
spiritual signals to us, signals which tell us in some cases to quite
soaking ourselves indulgently in the hot tubs of self-pity! Murmuring
over the weight of our crosses not only takes energy otherwise needed
to carry them but might cause another to put down his cross altogether.
Besides, brothers and sisters, if we were not carrying so much else, our
crosses would be much lighter. The heaviest load we feel is often from
the weight of our unkept promises and our unresolved sins, which press
down relentlessly upon us. In any genuine surrendering to God, one
says, “I will give away all my sins to know thee.” (Alma 22:18.) To Whom
shall we give our sins? Only Jesus is both willing and able to take them!
Finally, no murmurers are permitted to see so much more. Ancient
Israel was once compassed about with “a great host” of hostile horses
and chariots. Elisha counselled his anxious young servant, “Fear not: for
they that be with us are more than they that be with
them.” The prophet then prayed that the Lord would
“open” the young man’s eyes, “and he saw: and,
behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of
fire round about Elisha”! (2 Kgs. 6:14–17.)
Elisha’s counsel can help Church members today to
silence our murmuring. Regardless of how things seem,
or come to seem, in troubled times, “They that be with
us are more than they that be with them.” My brothers
and sisters, if our lips are closed to murmuring, then
our eyes can be opened. I so pray for us all in the holy
name of Jesus Christ, Amen
