Greenway Forest
Written by: Axel Lopez
It was a nice day where the sun was shining and the
fresh air went through my face while I was striding
peacefully with my friend. His name is Tyrone he's
been my friend since pre-school and now we are in 6th
grade and to me, that's a true friendship.
Tryon and I decided to walk to the Greenway
Forest because we had nothing else to do. I heard it
was named after that because some old guy from the
old times named it like that because you get lost
easily and you never get out and if you do you are
lucky.
While we were going to the forest we saw great
mountains that I have never seen because of how the
forest is blocking them from my house. The mountain
was shining white at the top with curves on the bottom
and I decided to take a picture to post it on my blog on
my website.
My friend and I were talking and laughing while we were walking
to boost the entertainment. My friend told me a hilarious joke while
walking he asked me “ What do you call a fake noodle?” I had no
idea so I said “what?’ my friend replied with “an impasta”. I was
holding my laugh because I was scared that something or someone
was in the woods with us I could not hold it in anymore. I blasted out
laughing until we both heard something in the bush a few moments
later.
“ Did you hear that”? I asked we heard a HISS my friend and
I didn't make one move our hearts stop beating.. and our foots
stepped on the leaves making crunchy sounds.. we glanced at
the bush until.. A snake ahh a snake I put my hand over my
friend's mouth because it was a rattlesnake I then remember
my fourth-grade teacher taught us that rattlesnakes can hear
by sensing vibrations.
My friend and I were walking slowly back to not make more
attention. Later when the snake was about ten feet away from
us we quickly ran to my house we jumped over logs and tree
sticks which were big. My friend and I thought they could've
been more snakes if we didn't leave fast as we could I agreed
with him.
Later on, we go home safe and sound we never went
to the forest and I wondered how we got out of the
forest so quickly after you have to be lucky to leave.
Tryon called his dad to come to pick him up and later
left.
I told my mom everything that happened she didn't
believe me and told me “ Are you sure you’re not
dreaming”? I replied with no and went to bed to get
some rest. I will never look at the forest the same way
ever again.
