Lineup of animated characters USOP SONTORIAN.
These characters were created and sketched by UJANG
cartoonist in 1993. He was previously a well-known cartoonist

in Gila-Gila Magazine with his famous work,
Aku Budak Minang (I Am A Minang Boy).

USOP, the main character in Usop Sontorian.
He is an active, courageous and leader type child.
His friends rely on his opinion for everything they want to do.

Usop reflects the personality of active,
mischievous and carefree village

children playing all traditional games while
having a noble personal respect for the elderly.



ABU, Usop's best friend.
He is a bit naive and like to take things lightly.



DOL, another close friend of Usop's. A city-born
child who lives in the village with his

grandparents. He is talkative but respectful of

Usop as the group leader.



SINGH and VELOO, among the non-Malay characters
featured in the animated series to reflect multicultural

theme as well as racial harmony and unity.

Singh, bringing joy to this animation
with his slightly rhythmic slang and love of poetry.



SELEBET, Usop's pet chicken.
This chicken character is often paired with the character

of a frog named ARBA. The two characters add to the
harmonious life of Usop and his friends.

Selebet is a chicken with a high IQ. It was the victim
of a clinical experiment that managed to escape

from the lab and was found by Usop and took it as a pet.

This sketch was produced by Ujang as an action

guide for animated artists in the production.

This was among Ujang's hand touches in the early development
of Usop Sontorian's production as he translated his cartoon drawing

style to be followed by a group of animated artists.
