Carol the Coral

CAROL THE
CORAL

At the very bottom of the sea, there lived a coral named
Carol

Carol had lots of friends, and she lived with them all in
her big house at the bottom of the sea

She shared her home with clams, and turtles, and fish of
all varieties

Carol had lots of coral friends and cousins from all over
the world

She had cousins who lived in Australia, and South
America, and they were all kinds of colours and shapes

Even though Carol couldn’t swim, her fish friends would
visit her friends and pass on messages for her

When Carol woke one morning, she started to feel sick.
She felt too warm

She wanted to cool herself down, but no matter how
hard she tried she couldn’t

None of her friends knew what to do

Her friends tried to everything to cool her down
They even covered her with seaweed
But it didn’t help…

The next morning, Carol noticed a strange liquid coming
from her

Carol was worried about whether this had something to
do with her feeling warm

She tried to ignore it in the hope that it would go away…

But the sickness didn’t go away

The next day, Carol noticed a strange object floating
above her

Could this be the reason why she was feeling unwell?

The next day, the strange creatures from the boats came
down to visit Carol

She was a little bit nervous at the situation

But these creatures meant no harm. They were just
worried about Carol

The humans from the boat told Carol that she was
bleaching

They said that humans has been accidentally releasing
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere

This was the reason Carol was feeling too warm

The humans explained to Carol about the world above
the sea

They told her that humans had been using too much of
the Earth’s resources and that

The planet Earth was starting to feel unwell because of it

Carol asked what could be done.

The humans told her that in order to make Carol feel
better, they needed to make the Earth feel better

If humans could cut down their carbon dioxide emissions,
then the planet, would start to feel well again

The humans promised Carol and all her friends that they
would make her feel better again

They spoke to all their friends and told them about Carol
and how she was feeling unwell

They agreed to change their behaviour so that Carol and
the Earth could feel better again

The humans told Carol about all the changes they had
made

They told her that they would do things like: recycle
more, fly less, and recycle plastic

Carol was overjoyed at this and soon after she started to
feel much better

Thanks to the help from the humans Carol, her friends, and
The Earth were able to live a long and happy life
