Because Patients Can’t Wait® Because Patients Can’t Wait®

Welcome to BioNJ’s 29th Annual Dinner Meeting and
Innovation Celebration honoring the exceptional medical
innovation coming from New Jersey. Because Patients
Can’t Wait®, tonight’s program is dedicated to the
Garden State’s robust life sciences ecosystem where we
are working together to bring new therapies and cures to
those in need.
Our industry is changing the future for Patients around the world. And, having been two
years since our last Annual Dinner Meeting, we have a lot to celebrate!
New Jersey remains a leading innovation powerhouse – with nearly 40% of all FDA
drug approvals in 2020 and 2021 coming from companies with a footprint right here
at home, including the first COVID-19 vaccines, saliva test and therapeutics. Tonight, we
will honor these companies with an Innovator Award and pay tribute to our New Jersey
COVID-19 Heroes by presenting them with a beloved Heart of BioNJ Award.
We are pleased to have Dr. Sol J. Barer present the 14th Annual Dr. Sol J. Barer
Award for Vision, Innovation and Leadership to the Honorable Judith M. Persichilli
for her tireless work on behalf of Patients, leading the State’s response to the COVID-19
pandemic and improving New Jersey’s health care system.
Our ecosystem continues to flourish and grow as evidenced by the recent
groundbreaking at The Hub in New Brunswick and the launch of The Cove in Jersey
City to the numerous ribbon cuttings of new headquarters and facilities of biopharma
companies expanding in or moving to the Garden State.
Tonight we raise our glasses in honor of all these accomplishments. As always at BioNJ,
we have many people to thank for their generosity, dedication and contributions to
making this meeting possible. We are indebted to our Board of Trustees, our Annual
Dinner Meeting Committee, chaired by Darek Hahn of Cerberus Sentinel and Bill
DeStafano of Marsh Inc., our generous Sponsors, New Jersey’s vibrant life sciences
ecosystem and our dedicated BioNJ Team.
Thank you all for being here.
Because Patients Can’t Wait®,
