Impact Fund a5 - new 10.7.22

An Impact Investment Fund for the People of Israel

For over a century, Keren Hayesod-UIA has stood at the forefront of Israel’s
growth and progress. Now KH is once again on the cutting-edge of philanthropy
with a new paradigm that marries social responsibility with a business model to
benefit Israel and its people. If you are passionate about Israel and want to play
an active role in ensuring its future, consider the KH Impact Fund.

Impact Investment = Sustainable Social Investment

Impact Investment harnesses business tools to generate financial returns with
a social bottom line. Impact Investment addresses pressing social problems,
using business models to create measurable social impact while generating
an evergreen source of funding to finance new ventures.

The KH Impact Fund:
A Different Type of Philanthropy

The KH Impact Fund is an exciting new initiative designed to tackle strategic
social challenges facing Israel by providing opportunity for vulnerable popu-
lations. The Fund invests in high impact enterprises with measurable social
impact and self-sustaining solutions. Through the Fund, Impactors leverage
their expertise and assets to change the face of Israel’s future.

How It Works

The KH Impact Fund is an endowment fund - the first of its kind in Israel -
that invests 100% of its capital in social ventures. For every contribution of
US$50,000 (tax deductible in most countries) you become an Impactor and get
one vote on the Impact Fund Investment Board. The Investment Board selects
high-impact ventures that align with Keren Hayesod’s core values to invest in.

Professionalism and Accountability

The Impact Fund Investment Board is headed by Dr. Thomas D. Zweifel, business-
man, author and impact investor from Zurich, and Till Bohbot, businessman, social
entrepreneur and impact investor from Lausanne. Social Finance Israel, headed by
renowned impact investor Sir Ronald Cohen, serves as a local third party, bringing
its expertise in investment and philanthropy to maximize impact and returns. An
Advisory Board of 5 renowned experts and/or impact investors assists with deal
flow selection on the basis of financial viability, impact and sustainability.

Our Impact to Date: A Pilot

In 2020, the Impact Fund Investment Board invested the Fund’s
initial capital in a scholarship loan program for new immigrants at
Israel Tech Challenge to channel highly skilled professionals into
Israel’s Startup Nation. Once they begin working, recipients pay
back a small percentage of their income at a low interest To date,
the Fund has financed tuition loans for 26 students, 20 of whom
have already found jobs.

The anticipated return on our first investment of $200,000 is $49 million
(NIS 154 million) in added economic value over the productive life of these ITC
graduates—an astonishing 245% ROI.
