Residence
Northern region: The North has fertile forests, the
houses are mostly made of wood, roofing with
clay tiles. Some house have a distinctive feature
is the wind-shaped roof top made of crossed
sticks called “Kalae”.
Northeastern region: The Northeast has long
summers and dry weather. They build houses
with high basements to allow the wind blow
through and basement space us for various
activities. The house is opened-air, with a block
in bedroom and some outer parts.
Central region: People in the central region
mostly build houses on the riverbanks. They look
like high basement houses in order to prevent
flooding. The house has good ventilation. High
gable roof for quick rainwater drainage.
Southern region: The south is a region with strong
winds and storms, so the houses are built with
low and steep roof to prevent wind resistance
and raised the floor to prevent flooding and help
prevent venomous animals such as snakes.

Northern region: Due to cold climate, People
in the North wear thick clothing. Women

different dress codes by ethnicity
- Chinese Style for Chinese
- Thai Muslims dress similar to Malaysian,
women wear batik and Yaya shirt, men
wear sarongs or pants, long sleeved shirt,
headdresses or “prayer cap” (Taqiyah)

Occupation
Northern region: Agricultural is the main
occupation of the northern people rice
is a widely cultivated economic crop by
using terraced farming. In addition, crops
suitable for cold weather such as apple,
strawberry.
Northeastern region: The Northeastern
region has sandy soil. Agriculture
is therefore the main occupation by
cultivating crops that need good drainage
cotton, cassava, jute there is also farming
animal husbandry, weaving, and rock salt
production.
Central region: The central region
is abundant and suitable climate
for agriculture such as farming and
gardening, including industry trading and
services.

Southern region: Most of the southern
region is coastal area and has a lot of
rain throughout the year. Fishing and
agriculture are important occupations
such as oil palm, rubber, coconut plating,
including tourism.

Food
Northern region: Due to cold weather,
food in the north is often the food that
gives energy such as sticky rice with
naam Pric Nuum (young chilli paste),
Gang Ho and Gang Hang Le (Northern
curry soup).
Northeastern region: Northeastern
people eat sticky rice with Papaya
Salad, Grilled chicken, Laab, Naam
Tok. There is food preservation. A well-
known preserved food is fermented
fish.
Central region: Central region is a fertile
land. So the local foods are varied.
They eat rice with different types of
food such as spicy prawn soup (Tom
Yum Goong) Foods with coconut milk
as an ingredient such as Mussaman
curry, Green curry.
Southern region: Peopleinthesoutheat
rice with spicy food such as Gang Tai
Plaa, Gang Luang and spicy seafood
paste. The local vegetable, Sataw, Luk
Niang, and Riang are eaten to reduce
the spiciness and enhance the flavor
of the food.

Traditions

Northern region: Northern traditions are
related to auspiciousness and nature, some
well-known traditions are; Poy Luang, Poy
Sang Long (The ordination the beloved sons),
Yee Peng (Loy Krathong Festival), The Ritual
of “Tan Kuay Salak” (Offerings to monks
Festival)
Northeastern region: Northeastern traditions
are influenced by occupations and religion.
Some notable traditions are; The Wax Castle
Festival, Lai Reua Fai (Illuminated Boat
Procession Festival), Phi Ta Khon Festival
(The Ghost Festival), Hae Nang Maew Festival
(Parade a cat to call for the rain to their fields)
Central region: Most of people in the central
region are agriculture, therefore, there
are beliefs about agriculture such as rice
worship. The important traditions are Long
Boat – Racing, Tak Bat Devo (Giving alms to
the Monks Festival), throwing and Receiving
Lotus Festival.
Southern region: Most of the southern
traditions are related to religion, such as Chak
Phra traditions, Boon Sard Duen Sib (The
showing gratitude to the ancestors Festival),
and Hea Pha Khuen That Festival (Tradition
of the cloth parade for the relics).

Central Thailand’s dialect is spoken around the country and is considered

In our daily life, we have to consume
products and services. We satisfy our needs
and wants by buying goods and services
(A need is something that you must have.)
(A want is something you would like to have.)

Factors affecting the choice of buying goods and services.
Goods are items you can see and touch, such as a book, a pen, salt,
shoes, hats, a folder, etc. Services are provided for you by other people,
such as a doctor, a lawn-mower worker, a dentist, a hairdresser, or a
restaurant server.
Many factors influence our choice when buying goods or services;
Customer income: high-income
consumers can buy goods and services more
than those with low income.
The quality of goods and services:
consumers choose to buy good quality, reasonable prices, and safe
goods and services which are worth their money.
Consumers can notice from the quality certification
mark affixed to the product and service.

Satisfaction: The consumer will buy goods and services based
on their tastes and needs.
Advertising: a form of communication used to encourage or
persuade a consumer to take some new
actions in purchasing the advertisers’ goods
or services. Advertisements come in many
forms: newspapers, magazines, television
commercials, radio advertisements, outdoor
advertising or direct mail; or new media such as websites and text
messages.
Price: the cost paid by the consumer for goods
or services. Most goods and services have a wide
range of costs which are determined by several
different factors. Major factors include quality, brand
name, location, different features offered.
Installment or lending system:
By using an installment payment system for
purchasing goods and services or giving loans;
consumers have the opportunity to buy more
products and services to meet their needs.Sometimes installment
payment system has high-interest rates.

The principle of choosing Goods and Services
We should buy goods and services which are basic and essential to life.
We should not be tempted by propaganda.
We should consider the quality of goods and services for a reasonable price.
We should look for the symbols showing the standards of the products.

The symbols of Industrial Product Standards
1. General
Symbols are used for foods and products in general.
The producers of foods and products could apply voluntarily
for a license to manufacture such products. They have to
improve their products to reach these standards.
2. Compulsory
According to the law, the manufacturer must show this mark
of the standard on the products for the safety of consumers.
Such as electric wires, gas tanks, and cleaning products.
3. The qualification hallmark of the Food and Drug Administration
We can find this hallmark in food and
drugs, such as milk and medicine.

Consumer Rights
TheConsumerProtectionAct,1979,amended(Section4),2017states
5 basic consumer rights as follows:
1. The right to choose: Consumers should have a variety of
options provided by different companies from which to choose.

2.The right to be informed:
Merchandisers should always provide consumers
with appropriate and sufficient information or facts
that consumers need to make an informed choice.

3.The right to safety:

Products should cause no harm to their users if used
as prescribed. It requires product testing and warning
labels.

4.The right to be heard:
Consumers can voice complaints and concerns
about a product that has an issue; should be
handled efficiently. This is the right to get
protection and compensation for any loss when
the consumer’s rights are violated.

5.The right to a fair contract:
Purchasing goods and services that
require a contract must be fair and do
not cheat or take advantage of consumers.

Meaning and importance of money
Money is something that humans came up with as a medium for
exchanging with goods and services.
The importance of money can be summarized as follows:
Money is a medium used to exchange with goods and services.
Money makes people's lives more comfortable.
Money is an important factor in production. Money is something
that generates capital for production, such as the purchase of
equipment, purchasing raw materials, and services wage
payment.
Money helps the prosperity of the economic and trading system
to run smoothly, quickly, and successfully.

Types of money Money can be divided into 3 types:
Coins: are money made of metals or alloys.

Banknotes are money printed on papers.

Checks: are documents that can be used to pay off debts.

In economy, money has four key functions:
1. Money is a medium of exchange. Money is the accepted medium

of goods and services. People, therefore, accumulate more money
than goods and services.
4. Money is a standard for deferred payments. In the case of taking

topography and resources in each

Agricultural: related to cultivation and animal

by using raw materials that are available in the
