Orlando Health Hospital Care at Home Orlando Health has received approval from the state Agency for Health Care Administration to provide acute hospital-level care in adult patients’ homes. Orlando Health Hospital Care at Home provides another care option, offering our patients with certain acute conditions the option to be treated at home. Patients receive the same level of care and monitoring as they would as an inpatient at one of our hospitals in the comfort of their own home. So, patients are able to receive high-quality care in an environment that best facilitates their recovery. The program is available to Orlando Health patients who meet specific clinical criteria as determined by emergency department and hospital staff. Medical conditions that can be cared for safely in a home-based program include cellulitis, COPD, asthma, UTI, heart failure, COVID-19, pneumonia and gastroenteritis. The Orlando Health program is the first in Central Florida to be approved by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It is an expansion of a federal initiative created during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to increase hospital capacity and maximize resources. This enhanced care model uses portable technology that connects patients to the Orlando Health Patient Care Hub for 24/7 remote monitoring and virtual care by nurses and providers, in addition to in-person nursing check-ins daily.
