Orlando Health Comprehensive Overview – April 2024, Edition 2

Orlando Health Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute At Orlando Health Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Institute, a wide variety and volume of procedures performed by a fellowshiptrained team of surgeons set us apart as experts in the field. Our surgeons’ extensive experience and expertise span a wide range of surgical care, with specialization in the complex reconstruction of oncological and traumatic defects in adults and pediatric patients with expertise in microvascular reconstruction, including vascularized lymph node transfer for lymphedema and neurotized DIEP flap procedures. The institute also offers a full complement of restorative plastic surgery and aesthetic procedures. Committed to staying at the forefront of care, our surgeons actively participate in clinical research to further ensure the institute offers the latest, most advanced aesthetic and reconstructive surgery treatments available. No matter the need, our passion lies in restoring confidence and quality of life through rebuilding and refinement, putting the patient in the center of everything we do. Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute specializes in the care of those with conditions affecting the colon, small bowel, rectum and anus. Understanding the impact these disorders can have on a person’s daily and overall quality of life, our team is committed to providing expert, compassionate and personalized care. A group of highly skilled physicians lead a team specializing in the diagnosis, treatment and management of a full spectrum of colorectal disorders. Advanced technologies offer effective options for the best possible outcomes. As part of a focus on colorectal cancer, our multidisciplinary approach to care includes working together with specialists at Orlando Health Cancer Institute, which has earned National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer recognition for high-quality rectal cancer care. In addition to highly sought-after clinical care, the institute’s robust research program allows our physicians to actively participate in initiatives that help to advance care for colorectal disorders. Orlando Health Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Institute The Orlando Health Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Institute offers a comprehensive program that allows patients to achieve life-changing and lifelong weight loss, particularly when more traditional efforts have not produced the desired results. While an effective plan will always include lifestyle and dietary changes, there are times when those changes alone are not enough. In those cases, bariatric surgery or weight-loss medications can be a preferred treatment choice. Our compassionate team works with each patient to build a customized treatment plan based on their individual weight-loss goals and their body’s ability to meet those goals. The institute team of physicians, nurses, registered dietitians, patient-family counselors and other specialized medical professionals care for and support patients through every step of the weight-loss journey. Board-certified surgeons are expertly skilled in performing both endoscopic and robotic minimally invasive procedures for successful, long-term results. They also specialize in revisions and conversions for those you did not achieve lasting weight loss or experienced complications following a previous bariatric procedure. Obesity medications also can be an effective option for those who have not been able to reach their weight loss goals through diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications. While different medications work differently, they help by suppressing appetite and reducing the body’s ability to absorb fat. Orlando Health’s bariatric program is accredited as a Comprehensive Center for adult and adolescent care under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), further ensuring a program that provides safe, high-quality patient care.
