Gratitude Report

2 Gratitude Report 2022

Dear Friends,

With tremendous support from the community, Orlando Health Foundation was able to raise more
than $35 million in our most recent fiscal year. Every dollar raised helps provide state-of-art
equipment and technology, capital improvements, research and the ability to offer programs that
focus on a patient’s entire wellbeing — physically, mentally and emotionally.

Men, women and children throughout the Southeast, as well as the millions of tourists who visit
Central Florida each year, have access to the most advanced medical treatments available through
Orlando Health’s 17 hospitals and free-standing emergency departments, including Bayfront Health
St. Petersburg.

Inside this publication, we share a snapshot of the impact philanthropy makes on the healthcare
system. We could not do this without each of you. As we close out 2022 and the holiday season is
upon us, know that your support of Orlando Health is a gift to not only the Foundation, but our
patients and caregivers as well. With your donations, clinicians have the equipment and resources
they need to provide the top-notch care for which we are known in the community.

Along with our leadership, physicians and caregivers, I thank you — corporate partners, grantmakers,
foundations, grateful patients, individual community donors and volunteers — who choose to leave
your own legacy through philanthropy.

Thank you for continuing along this journey with us. We are privileged to have your support.

Gratefully,

John W. Bozard, President

JohnE woke up in his hospital bed and was told the startling news
– his heart had stopped for four full minutes. JohnE, a professional

Adam’s Story

While on his motorcycle for a relaxing ride, with his wife as a passenger,
Adam hit a patch of loose sand and skidded into a concrete wall and a light
pole. With multiple, life-threatening injuries for both, the couple was airlifted
to Orlando Health ORMC. Adam suffered a traumatic injury to his left leg,
ultimately leading to amputation. His wife’s injuries were not quite as severe,
but she still spent 45 days in the hospital.
At a follow-up visit, Adam met with his caregivers and expressed his
gratitude for the entire team at Orlando Health ORMC, repeating his belief
that he would not be alive if it were not for the team.
Adam currently walks with a temporary prosthetic and a cane, but his “real

parents to their two children.

At a young age, Ellis was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter
disease, which causes knee pain in growing, active children and
results in a painful lump below the kneecap. While he was still able
to play multiple sports growing up, his active lifestyle and career in
the health and fitness industry led to similar problems well into
adulthood. Ellis was in constant discomfort that began to worry his
children and other family members, but most of all, himself. He
decided to undergo total knee replacement surgery, a procedure
that forever changed his life. Ellis was amazed that his knee-
bending ability increased by 30% within a week and that he was
able to continue low-impact workouts like yoga
and bicycling only one month after his procedure. Because
of the skills of his surgeon and orthopedic team, along with
