inspire - Fall 2023 4 The new complex brings the future of orthopedic care to Central Florida and sets the standard for facilities across the nation. Designed with detail and intention, this facility is where healthcare meets hospitality. When planning for the new building, team members and physicians took into consideration every aspect of the patient experience, designing an ideal hospital to anticipate a patient’s every need. The Institute is all-inclusive for orthopedic services with a walk-in clinic, office visits, radiology, lab works, surgery, rehabilitation and pharmacy all under one roof. Team members throughout the complex work exclusively in orthopedic practices each day, making our staff dedicated experts. The seventh floor of the hospital holds the research and innovation center which provides a hands-on learning environment for orthopedic surgery residents. It includes a 10-station cadaver lab, 3D printer and a 116-seat auditorium that virtually connects to operating rooms on the floors below, providing real-time learning and collaboration opportunities. The research and education division of the Institute is supported through philanthropy and will educate 25 medical residents and six fellows each year. With more than 70 years of excellence in graduate medical education, Orlando Health’s orthopedic residency program ranks fourth in the United States, according to the Journal of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. All these elements combined make this complex an exemplary facility to provide the best possible care for our patients. With world-renowned surgeons and cutting edge technology within each department, the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is the leading orthopedic center for excellence in the Southeast. The Future of Orthopedic Care In August 2023, the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute officially opened phase two of the downtown complex. Phase one, the attached Medical Pavilion, began welcoming patients in March and holds all outpatient services. Phase two holds the only dedicated orthopedic hospital in Florida.

To make a donation to support Orlando Health ORMC, visit Give.OrlandoHealth.com/ORMC. 5 OrlandoHealthFoundation.com In February 2023, Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) achieved Magnet recognition from The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition Program. This designation is the highest honor a healthcare organization may receive for excellence in nursing practice and quality patient care. The Magnet Recognition Program identifies workplaces worldwide that draw in and keep highly skilled nurses who support high-quality patient, resident and client care. Only a small group of U.S. health care organizations have achieved Magnet recognition. Orlando Health ORMC joins Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies in achieving this honor. “Earning Magnet status is not an overnight success, but a demonstration of a longstanding and ongoing dedication to ensure the highest quality of patient care,” said Kelly Nierstedt, MSN, RN, NEA-BC president, Orlando Health ORMC. “The prestigious designation mirrors the unmatched expertise and dedication of our organization.” Studies show that Magnet-recognized organizations have higher safety practices, patient satisfaction and nurse retention. The patient’s experience is improved, and nurse attrition is often reduced. Magnetrecognized organizations promote a collaborative culture where nurses are acknowledged as essential participants in the patient’s safe passage through their healthcare experiences. In turn, this attracts the best nursing talent. Achieving this designation demonstrates Orlando Health ORMC’s commitment to the highest quality of healthcare and shows the world it is an organization that values nurses’ ability to drive healthcare transformation. Excellent patient care at Orlando Health ORMC is made possible through the unwavering support of our dedicated donors. Their commitment has been instrumental in achieving the prestigious Magnet designation, allowing us to attract top nursing talent, provide state-of-the-art equipment and deliver exceptional care. We are deeply grateful to each donor for their invaluable role in shaping the future of healthcare at Orlando Health. 7 OrlandoHealthFoundation.com Inspired by the care their family has received at Orlando Health and the mission behind the Orlando Health Heart and Vascular Institute, Lorraine and Van Conoley have committed $2 million to elevate cardiac care at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC). The Conoleys have a long-standing history with the Central Florida community. Both Van and his father were born and raised in Central Florida and held careers in the citrus industry. Their Central Florida roots began after Van’s grandfather walked from Valdosta, Georgia to Sanford, Florida in 1890. Lorraine, who moved to the area at the age of seven from New York, met Van when they both attended Boone High School. Now married 56 years, the couple raised their two children at their home on Lake Conway. Over the years they have seen the Central Florida area grow tremendously from what was previously undeveloped land. As life-long residents, Lorraine and Van have a shared history with Orlando Health — stemming back to Orange Memorial Hospital, now known as Orlando Health ORMC, where Van was born. The Conoleys have experienced first-hand the need for a quality healthcare system in our area, as both had heart surgery at Orlando Health and appreciated the dedicated care they received. Their son-in-law also received life-saving care at Orlando Health ORMC’s Level One Trauma Center after breaking his neck in an accident. “If our community didn’t have a Level One Trauma Center, I don’t think he would have made it,” Van recalls. When it comes to philanthropy, Van has a simple motto, “Don’t wait. Do it while you can.” The Conoleys’ determination to give back to their community demonstrates the care and love they have for the place they call home. “We’ve had a long history with Orlando Health. They’ve saved our lives, and that’s one of the reasons I want to give back,” says Van. Lorraine and Van, along with their five-year-old Black Mouth Cur dog, Gator, can often be found spending time on their ranch in Seville, Florida, amongst the 600 cattle that roam the property. Whether spending time on the ranch, or visiting their mountain home in North Carolina, for the Conoleys, Orlando will always be home. Continuing Legacy of Compassionate Giving Arnold and Winnie Palmer Foundation Donates $250,000 to Orlando Health In a display of dedication to the well-being of this community, the Arnold and Winnie Palmer Foundation has once again demonstrated its support of pediatric healthcare in Central Florida. inspire - Fall 2023 10 Supporting Central Florida Families In 2022, the Isermann Family Foundation provided a $10,000 grant to support The Healing Tree and Healthy Families programs at The Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families, part of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. This year, the Isermann Family Foundation has committed to supporting families in our community by providing a grant of $10,000 to support The Healing Tree. The Healing Tree and Healthy Families programs at The Howard Phillips Center are two of the six programs the Center provides and serve many of the most vulnerable children and their families in Central Florida with a variety of lifechanging services. Thanks to the Isermann Family Foundation’s funding, The Healing Tree was able to provide 184 children and their families with emergency financial assistance and client support in 2022 — with aid including: transportation to therapy sessions, essential baby supplies, childcare and basic needs such as food, clothing and medication to children. The Healing Tree provides evidence-based counseling services in the form of individual, group and family therapy for children who have been victims of abuse and their caregivers. For over 40 years, this leading treatment facility has assisted in strengthening the family unit and supporting long-term recovery, helping to break the intergenerational cycle of abuse. Healthy Families is an evidence-based model for the promotion of child well-being and prevention of abuse. This home-visitation program offers education, referrals and resources to new parents in Orange and Osceola counties to help build healthy, positive parenting skills. From pregnancy until the child is five years old, Healthy Families staff members facilitate parent-infant bonding, positive parent-child interaction, child health and development. In 2022, grant funding from the Isermann Family Foundation helped to support this program in providing client support to 65 families in Central Florida. The Howard Phillips Center relies heavily on philanthropic support to provide these needed services at no-cost to families. The Orlando Health Foundation is grateful for the support the Isermann Family Foundation has provided and the impact they have already made on children and families in our community. inspire - Fall 2023 12 This legacy began with its founder, George Jenkins, in 1930 and continues to live on through the care and compassion of the many associates that work for the company and still represent the heart of it today. During their annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign from May 24 – June 4, Publix associates took to heart the words of Arnold Palmer: “Good will never be good enough for our children.” They came together alongside their generous customers to create lasting change — raising more than $512,000 to support pediatric programs and services — and help us continue to meet the growing needs of our community best. The warmth and excitement seen and felt during their campaign was truly special. As we celebrate another life-changing year of partnership with Publix, we extend our deepest gratitude to the many Publix associates and customers for their heartfelt support and thank them for the positive impact they continue to have on our hospital and families in our community. Publix Continues Building Upon Legacy of Caring Publix is known for its caring culture and has a long-standing tradition of being a company the community can count on. This past May, local Costco warehouses rallied their associates and members to make their annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaign to support Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children the best one yet. Preparations for an incredible month of miracles started in early April when representatives from each warehouse visited Orlando Health Arnold Palmer to learn how their support is changing kids’ health and helping to provide specialized care to local kids. Their excitement continued with team meetings and calendar planning, which led them to kick off their campaign united, celebrating each donation with cowbells, handclappers and lots of cheer. From hosting potlucks, cashier and department activities, dress-up days, dance parties and business member support, our six Costco locations brought the community together for their highest fundraising year yet for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer — all one donation at a time. Celebrating Our Costco Warehouse Change-Makers We are proud to call Costco a partner and celebrate their team of changemakers and the difference they make for kids in our community.

inspire - Fall 2023 14 Panera Bread Supports Little Hearts This past spring, Central Florida cafés hosted the annual Heart Cookie campaign, raising over $27,000 between February 1 to February 14 to benefit The Heart Center at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. The heartfelt efforts of Panera team members, including at this year’s top fundraising café — Café #4264 in Windermere, support cardiac patients like Stella. In late 2020, Mark Tremonti, a founding member of the hard-rock supergroup Creed, and his wife, Victoria, found out their unborn third child had the chromosomal abnormality that causes Down syndrome. By 22 weeks gestation, the Tremontis were informed their baby girl would face another challenge — Stella had a hole in her tiny heart. For children with Down syndrome, the occurrence of heart defects is much higher — as many as half are affected. Stella faced one of the most common defects, ventricular septal defect (VSD), in which a hole forms between the lower chambers of the heart, causing excess blood flow and pressure. At just nine months old, Stella underwent open heart surgery and returned home just three days later. Thanks to the treatment Stella received at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer, she can look forward to a life of doing what she wants to do — and no more surgeries. The Heart Center at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer brings together a specialized team to offer the most comprehensive heart care in Central Florida for infants, children and teens with heart disease. With philanthropic support from partners like Panera, the Heart Center is able to provide expert care to patients using the most advanced technology and practices, giving young heart patients the chance to be amazing kids. For over 20 years, Panera Bread has been a strong supporter of Orlando Health by hosting campaigns throughout the year that benefit our hospitals and support our patients. the chance to be amazing kids Giving young heart patients Stella, Heart Center Patient Top fundraising store: Windermere Cafe #4264

inspire - Fall 2023 16 The inaugural program was designed to connect Black, Indigenous and other underserved and lowincome mothers in Orange County to accessible prenatal and postpartum services. Achievements over the course of the pilot program ensured the renewal of this grant over the next three years, providing Orlando Health with resources to continue expanding this program to aid more mothers in need. Severe maternal morbidity (SMM) includes unexpected outcomes of labor and delivery that result in significant long or short-term effects to women’s health. In recent years, the SMM rate has continued to increase in the United States with noticeable racial and ethnic disparities. These gaps are observed in Orange County, where the SMM rate is nearly three times higher in the non-Hispanic Black population compared to that observed in the non-Hispanic White population. Inequities in access to healthcare, presence of biases and delays in identification and treatment all contribute to the widening gap. Nine community partners included in the pilot program – Second Harvest Food Bank, The Midwife Bus, Healthy Start, Certain Counseling, Center for Change, SALT, Hebni, Commonsense Childbirth and the Holden Heights Front Porch Community — extended its reach and helped to increase access to care for vulnerable populations by providing services such as access to food and nutrition education, midwifery care, mental and behavioral counseling services and more. The Florida Department of Health recently awarded a grant of $2.4 million to Orlando Health to fund a pilot program through the Closing the Gap: Pilot Programs to Reduce Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Severe Maternal Morbidity through Telehealth in Duval and Orange Counties initiative. Closing the Gap With the resources made accessible through this grant, Orlando Health is able to address SMM and other pregnancy complications for prenatal and postpartum patients – helping to reduce health disparities, increase access to care and reduce severe maternal morbidity in Black and Indigenous pregnant and postpartum women. In the first year of this program, Orlando Health and community partners were able to recruit 1,255 patients, exceeding the goal of 1,000. Initial screenings helped to determine different social determinants of health, mental health and other needs that may be affecting a patient’s overall wellness. Team members were then able to assess each patient’s needs, connect with them through the telehealth platform, and provide counseling, resources and referrals. The pilot year saw many promising outcomes, including the enrollment of 70% of our patients at the time of delivery and prenatal encounters, and retaining the vast majority of those patients into postpartum treatment. Additionally, 100% of enrolled patients in need received medical and telehealth communication devices, greatly improving their ability to monitor their health.
