SPOTLIGHT

WHAT’S ONE COMPLIMENT YOU HAVE BEEN
GIVEN THAT REALLY STUCK WITH YOU?

I was recently told by my CIM course director back in
April that he would hire me based off my handwriting
alone. I never really thought of it as anything special but I

suppose I do have nice handwriting. [Laughs]

WHAT’S ONE THING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT
YOU?

Honestly, probably the frog thing. [Laughs] In all
seriousness though, I’m not too sure. I’m a really open
person, so I don’t really keep things secret or hidden away.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?

In a position of power. Nothing crazy, more like a solid
leadership role. It has also been my dream since I was

a child to work in Tokyo, even if just for a little while.
That doesn’t necessarily have to happen in 5 years but
it’s definitely something I wouldn’t shy away from if the

opportunity were to be presented to me then.

WE HEARD YOU’RE A BIG DISNEY FAN, WHO’S
YOUR FAVOURITE PRINCESS?

I guess she’s not technically a princess, but it’s definitely
Mulan. She’s my favourite because her story isn’t about
waiting for her happiness to come to her. Instead she
chose to go out and rescues a whole stinking country to
save her dad which then results in her happiness. To top
it all off, she has a talking dragon, a lucky cricket and a
horse; isn’t that what every girl wants?

IF YOU COULD HAVE LUNCH WITH ANYONE IN
THE WORLD, WHO WOULD IT BE?

Oprah. She loves bread! [Laughs] Really though, she’s an
amazing business woman and just a pretty cool person in

general. While she would be great to exchange thoughts
and opinions with all day long, hands-down, I would give
you my left kidney to be able to sit at the same lunch table
is Hayao Miyazaki. He is my absolute hero and inspiration

in life. The man is a living wonder of the world to me.
I don’t think I’d be sitting here today talking to you if
it wasn’t for his movie Kiki’s Delivery Service - that’s
what started my life in art, and to be dramatic, my life in

general.

WHAT’S THE CRAZIEST THING YOU’VE EVER
DONE?

Deciding to pack up my life and moving to a new country
I had never even been to before. To be honest, I had

never left North America before this past September and
now I’ve been to 5 different countries! It has been by far
the best, and craziest, decision I’ve ever made. I’ve made

friends and unforgettable memories for a life time.
