The Past Leaders of Our Club

Leo Mudith Bimsara Jayasekera

1) Brief introduction about yourself and leoism 3) As a young leader what is your main focus
journey plus how it impacts to your whole life? and why?

A journey started in 2012 and now it has become If I am a young Leader, my main focus would be
an integral part of my life. I feel the journey was people centric approach. I would say that is
quite memorable and eventful, there has been because leadership is always about your peers,
lots of good times and compromises as well. So your community and your country or the world
glad I could be in many levels of leadership and and it is a collection of people, not any non-livings
importantly the happiness is immense to see that things. So, make it a thing to focus on what many
there are a lot of great friendships built along this thinks, adjust and approach and you will
journey of Leoism for myself. definitely achieve over winning!

2) As a knowledgeable individual in the society
what would you suggest in order to eradicate
or minimize deficiencies in the lives of people
at present?

I think we should have an intent to identify ways
which could cause an impact in the lives of any
person whom that we go on to help with. As Leos
we are equipped with the best tool within us,
which is forwardness and willingness to make
realistic decisions. Always make it a plan to do
impactful service which is in turn sustainable, I
believe Leos are the best towards doing such.

4) Why would any individual choose leoism
over any other youth movements?

As I said, if you need people to have belief and
provide you with encouragement, it is always
Leoism. I haven’t seen any other youth
organization doing this right. Leo lets you trial
and error and yet get on with it and engage
differently. You will still be loved and motivated
no matter you failed or won! If you want to
achieve yourself to become the dream you had,
it is always LEO!

5) In your point of view what are the qualities
you should carry with you to be a passionate
individual in the society?

Only quality to have is compassion. Be a people’s
person, you will be loved and respected and
more than anything you will gain recognition
which you can never get for money. Doesn’t it
make you a passionate individual, it does right?

Leo Dinendri Wilegoda Arachchige

1. Tell us; how did you join leoism and your
story within your Leo life so far ?

I joined leoism in the year 2017 with Leo Dhanuj
Rajapakshe ayyas guidance. The 4 years in Leoism
have been a memorable one where I got the
opportunity to work in countless arenas within
my District , Leo District 306A2 and also within
the Leo Multiple 306.

2. As a club president in the past leoistic year
how did you work with your team to be
successful?

My biggest strength was each and every member
in our club with the constant support and
guidance I knew they would always be there, and
we'll all be united in our journey together as one
Leo family. Being methodical, recognizing hidden
talents in a person and ensuring that they take a
step towards in showcasing those talents was
surely a large proportion behind the success.
Trust is a major factor and believing in each other
and most of all not forgetting to have fun.

3. How is leoism important within the day to
day life of the youth and young adults in
society?

I believe with Leoism we find our true self; we
push ourselves to face challenges and never back
down from any form of barrier. We try our best
to reach the true potential that we carry within
ourselves.

4. What is your best achievement in your
leoistic career?

It’s definitely the bunch of kindhearted
individuals I've met, I cannot dream of achieving
anything more important than all the friends who
are like family that I've met through leoism.

5. Last but not least, tell us what you feel
about being a part of leoism and the A2
family?

Being a Leo and also being a Leo of the A2 family
is a blessed feeling. The principles that are
brought down generation to generation is
something which holds together the tight knit
group of young individuals.

Artes Progressio

Artes Progressio - A talent building program which has being
organized for benefit of the members of Leo club of Polgasowita to
explore and tweak talents within themselves. The purpose of this
program is to allow the members to learn new talents and educate
themselves about the right way to work with projects.
Inspire Innovation being the theme of our district this year, we
believe in amalgamating this with our own club theme which is;
Growth from Within.
As the first program of this talent building program series, we had
focused on Design thinking for creation of designs through creative
problem-solving.

Hope amidst chaos

-The Next Chapter-

“What people see you do, may not be remembered; what they hear you say may be
forgotten; but how they feel your intervention in their times of need will forever be
remembered.”

This quote is a replica of what we as a family were able to achieve on that special day. It
was definitely a day that made every Leo present their smile. Let me reminisce the day
that our pockets were empty, but hearts were rich!

It was on the 30th of September 2020 that we initiated the project of taking the students
along with their teachers to visit the zoo. As organized by Leo Vihan Manage, we were able
to get two vans to take these students along with their parents and teachers of the school
safely to the zoo. As we stopped at the zoo the excitement and happiness were definitely
seen as they were all wearing a smile on their faces. We were too excited to show them
the various animals present at the zoo. So, after following the various guidelines as brought
up by the relevant authorities, we finally entered the zoo. We started from the first
number and slowly kept visiting all the animals. The students were excited to see these
animals since they have only seen them in pictures and television. The students screamed
their hearts out with happiness when they remembered several animals present at the
zoo. They promised us that the next time we visit them they would draw them on paper
and show us.

At the end of the journey the parents as well as the teachers were really grateful for
hosting such a program to not only bringing peace of mind to the students as well as the
parents but also for contributing towards enhancing the knowledge of the students. We
dispersed with happy hearts full of love and promised them that we would visit again soon.

STRIDE TO JUSTICE

A combination of a video awareness and informative flyer series was conducted for the 3rd
phase of project ‘STRIDE TO JUSTICE’ achieving the motive of providing knowledge and
generating awareness to a greater number of individuals about the basic aspects of different
fields of law and justice as per the situation in the country promotes minimum physical contact
and also since it could be conducted with the help of persons with a basic background in law
and order.
Video appearances by Mr. Rienzie C. Joachim speaking on Factors to be considered when
purchasing property in Sinhala language, Mr. Prasanna Saliya Dharmakeerthi elaborating on
Offences and Amendments relating to the Motor Traffic Act in English language and Mr.
Jasmine Farook on Basics on Company Law in English language and Flyers on copyright law and
distinguishing between offences of robbery and theft were brought forward to the minds of
the general public. It was our belief that creating and communicating these types of awareness
videos and flyers relating to various subjects of law and justice would have given the general
public a better understanding about the justice system and basics of Law of Sri Lanka.

General Meeting
- Month of September -

The monthly general meeting of Leo club of Polgasowita for the
month of August was held on the 13th of September 2020 at
Prime Engineering Lanka (Pvt) Ltd with the presence of Chief
Guest Leo Shehan Akmeemana, Chief coordinator- Line officers
and Guest of honor Yuran Deshaka, Director – Membership
growth and Retention.

We are delighted to present the September Edition of THE ICON, official
newsletter of Leo club of Polgasowita for the Leoistic year 2020/2021.
As you flip through every page, we hope that each one of you will witness
as we have the various aspects of wonderful events and projects we have
done as a one team together. It will me more and more cherish able with
the passing of time. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to
everyone who supported us to make this a success.
