This idea was proposed by Leo Eranga Dissanayake as an attempt to enlighten our
society with concepts related to basic laws and regulations. With the idea of Leo Eranga,
we conducted the third session from the series of this awareness program named Neethi
Sanwada.
We launched a proper PR campaign through social media and invited people to join this
program. The main challenge was contacting a volunteer guest speaker. But with the
help of LEO Eranga we contacted qualified guest speakers, Attorney-at-law, Feminist
activist, consultant - UNDP Naduni Madumali to make an awareness. As we planned the
online session was held on 31st of October 2021 at 06.00 pm with the guest speakers.
Leo Sathira Wellappuli was the moderator of this program. Many people attended this
live session and presented their questions and cleared their doubts.
The third session was a great success, and we received a lot of positive feedbacks.

CoAst scrub 21’

The Cost Scrub’21 which was organized by the Leo club of Matara
Nilwala collaborating with Sahurdayo club of Matara was successfully
completed on 21st October 2021.The main objective of this project
was to clean the Matara coastal area. Matara beach is on the most
crowded places due to its beautiful scenery. As it is our responsibility
to keep our outer surrounding clean and attractive, we came up with
this project idea. Our Leos and Leo prospects were very enthusiastic,
and they engaged very actively in this project. Through this project we
cleaned the Matara beach starting from the browns hill. Even though
we got together for this project after a lockdown we were able to
collect about 50 garbage bags. The most important part of this project
is that we categorized this Leo club Matara of Matara Nilawala because
together we were able to contribute our responsibility to the mother
nature; To take care of it.

“Planting a tree is the easiest way to align yourself with the Cosmic Rhythm”
On the occasion of the birthday of Mr. Douglas X. Alexander, the
International President of the Lions Club, the Lions Club organized a
tree planting program. At their invitation, we, the Leo Club of Matara
Nilwala, were also able to participate in this good cause. The operation
was carried out on 17th October in the Kamburugamuwa area.With
the participation of more than 50 people, the event was successfully
completed that day. We used Kumbuk trees and Asela trees for that
tree planting program. The police in the Kamburugamuwa area
also joined us in the project. We are all happy that our Leo Club of
Matara Nilwala has joined hands with the Lions Club to make such an
environmental project possible. It was also a great experience for our
Leos and Prospects who attended the event.
