“Now then.” Klaus brushed off his hands. “Are you ready, Murasakiari?” He
showed the man a cold gaze.

There was no more person that could protect him. Even if he ordered them,
they could not get up again. Of course, it was clear who would come out on
top in a battle between Murasakiari and Klaus. The battle had already ended.
His possible escape route was sealed off by the other girls. He must have
realized his own predicament, because he tried moving backwards, but
bumped into the goddess statue.

“Save…me…” It was a pathetic voice. “You will save your enemy, right?
Could you not convince this man?”

Tia could tell these words were directed at her. Looking over at him, he
showed a traumatized expression. You wouldn’t think that this man had the
nerve to call himself a King not even twenty minutes before. A King with no
subordinates is just a normal person.

“Even I know what enemy to save, and what I should just let rot in a cell.”
Tia showed no concern.

Her answer was already decided. There was no saving this man. His
personality was rotten to the core, and she couldn’t see a single desire from
him.

“You are like a catastrophe. Far too disgusting to be called an enemy.”

Klaus approached Murasaskiari, and took out a bullet from his pocket. It was
Kouro’s objectified will. He tightly grasped such, and closed the distance
between him and the pale Murasakiari. However, Tia was the one to bring the
conclusion to this battle.

“—You aren’t even worth being our enemy.”

Klaus fist, holding the bullet, hammered right into Murasaskiari’s face.
Unable to even raise a shriek, he lost consciousness. With this, the King of

Mitalio had fallen.

Epilogue: Boss and Graduation

Let us talk about the aftermath of the mission happening at Mitalio.
[Tomoshibi] fulfilled their mission, after using every ounce of strength they
had. However, there were still victims. This loss became apparent right as
Klaus finished restraining Murasakiari.

He felt killing intent, and right after, a bullet came flying at him from the
darkness of the night. It wasn’t just any bullet, it came from a sniper rifle. It
took quite a lot from Klaus even to redirect the bullet. In this, he felt a flash
of memories.

—It’s the sniper who killed his teacher Guido.

In order to keep their secrets, they were willing to kill even their own allies.
At the same time, another two bullets came flying at them. Klaus deflected
one, not wanting his target to be killed before receiving any information.
However, the second bullet aimed at an unexpected individual’s right leg.

“Roland-san!?”

Wounded heavily through his battle with Murasakiari, he could not evade the
bullet. Tia let out a scream. Grabbed by Monika, she was pulled into the
shadows. From the inside, they could not figure out the location of the sniper.
Since they were firing at them from such a far distance that you couldn’t even
pick up on the traces, that alone proved their talent.

A buzzer resounded from Murasakiari’s chest, seemingly a transceiver. Klaus
put this on his ear, and heard a familiar voice.

‘You damn monster.’ It was Shirogumo, a member of [Hebi]. ‘To think you’d
actually win against Big Bro Murasakiari. Seriously you’re disgusting.’

“So you came here as well. Wanna have another battle?”

‘…Go to hell, you battle-horny bastard. Not gonna bother with that, just
gonna end up with me dead.’ Shirogumo let out a snort.

Rarely enough, Klaus was the one talking further.

“We secured Murasakiari. Once we get information out of him, it’s your
guys’ turn.”

‘He won’t tell ya anything. He’s not that weak of a spy, Big Bro Murasakiari
that is.’

“I wonder?”

‘Well, try your best. Since Big Bro was dealing with you, I managed to fulfill
my own job.’

It seemed as if Shirogumo was working undercover at the Tolfa Economy
Conference himself. Of course, Klaus had no time following up anything of
that, since he was busy dealing with Murasakiari’s [Worker Ants].

‘We can just declare this round your win.’ Shirogumo said. ‘But, next time,
I’ll kill you. You really are a thorn in our, [Hebi]’s, eyes. Seriously, you’re
dead meat. Thoroughly, securely, I will be there to watch you take your last
breath’

“Kill, kill, kill, what a limited vocabulary you have. Can’t you do anything
about this childish attitude?”

‘Zip it, it’s my character.’

“…What is your goal? You’re not just spies serving the Empire, right?”

‘Why do you think that.’

“Because my teacher would never betray us for such a bunch.”

Klaus could hear Shirogumo’s laugh.

‘Ask Big Bro Murasakiari. If you even can get anything out of him.’

“……”

‘Put strongly—to create an equilibrium.’

There, the call was cut. The killing intent making your skin shiver vanished,
and Shirogumo most likely moved away. As always, he was an unreadable
person. Acting like a small animal, he showed fear towards Klaus. Just when
you thought he was acting tough, he left behind some meaningful words.
Strong or weak, Klaus could not tell.

“Roland-san!”

After the presence of the sniper vanished, Tia ran out of the shadows. He
seemed to be alive still. However his right left was damaged heavily, and his
face turned pale. His eyes were devoid of any light. The girls surrounded
Roland.

“I…” Zibia kneeled down next to him. “I was saved by him…If not for him,
Elna and I would have been killed.”

“………” Klaus directed his gaze downwards.

Tia was still busy trying to save him. She took off her clothes, and tried
closing the wound. What an irony that she was trying to save the enemy who
attempted to kill her twice.

“Tia.” Klaus called out to her. “It’s too late.”

Grete took Tia’s hand, and had her stop. She was forced to pull her hand
away from Roland. When Klaus stood next to him, his eyes moved ever so
slightly.

“Kakaribi…” His voice was about to vanish.

“What is it?” Klaus asked.

“Let me ask you one thing. Did I ever earn myself the title of your rival?”

“…………” He figured out what Roland wanted to hear, and he realized that
the other girls must have wanted him to say these words as well.

That being said, Klaus took a different answer from that.

“Not at all.”

“…I see.”

“Don’t expect me to praise you. I won’t grant you any wish. You just
continued to kill people as you were ordered. Without even leaving behind
their names, without building a special relationship with anybody, you raised
the amount of nameless corpses in this world. Thinking of all the innocent
people that had to suffer at your hands, this is the expected result.”

It was a fact that he had saved the girls. However, Klaus couldn’t see one
good deed such as that as atonement for the countless crimes he committed.
He could not be forgiven.

“That being said.” Klaus added. “Even someone like you earned himself the
right to be surrounded by us, spending your last moments in bliss.”

“…I see. That sounds great, honestly. It might have been a mere moment, but
it was great fighting together with you.” Roland reached for the air in front of
him with his weak hand.

“…Tia…Thank you…for saving me…”

Tia grabbed his hand with both of hers. The second she touched him, the last
strength inside him vanished, and Roland stopped breathing. Silently, Klaus
lifted him up. In reality, he should have died a more gruesome death, in
solitude, in order to pay for all the crimes he committed. Lay down his life in
darkness, at the end of endless torture. Or, kill himself at Murasakiari’s order
—As that was the expected result of his path he had chosen as a spy.

If so, then could this possibly be a happy end?

Grete used a knife to cut off his collar. She must be planning to use this as a
memento. The girl that had been his lover was still tortured in the prison back

at the Republic of Deen. Annette poured gasoline over the body, and Tia set
fire to it.

“Goodbye, Roland-san.”

The uprising fire quickly burned down the corpse, as the members watched
this in silence.

Merely two hours after the harsh battle in Mitalio, Klaus stood at the pier. He
stood at the entrance that could connect the Federal State of Musaia to the
other continents. Even this late into the night, passenger and cargo ships were
going in and out. To his side, he had a large music instrument case.
Normally, it’d be used to store a cello, but he used it to transport the captured
Murasakiari.

He had made plans to meet a certain individual here at 3am. It was a black
man with round glasses on his eyes. For some reason, he wore religious priest
clothes, and the fact that the greater half of his hair being white told enough
about his age.

“What are you doing here?” He asked, to which Klaus answered “Salt
sweets.”

This awkward conversation was actually a way to prove their identity.

“…So you are [Kakaribi], is it.” The man nodded. “I am a messenger from
JJJ. Feel free to call me [Correct1].”

“I see.”

“Your rumours have reached me. You seem to be the most proficient spy the
Republic has to offer.”

“It really isn’t any praise to hear that as a spy.” When Klaus responded with
these words, Correct showed a dampened smile.

JJJ is the intelligence agency here at the Federal State of Musaia. They
single-handedly take care of intelligence and defense. To the public, they are
surveying the Galgado Empire, which is why they are working together with
the Republic of Deen’s Office of Foreign Affairs.

“[Murasakiari], was it.” Correct cut into the main topic. “The JJJ has looked
into his case. He was the mastermind behind the mindless spy slaughtering
here at Mitalio. He even killed several of our members. Wonderfully done.”

“Yeah. He seems to be part of [Hebi], an intelligence organization from the
Empire. Ever heard of them?”

“First time, actually. I wonder who they are?” Correct pushed up his glasses.
“So, you say we can take care of [Murasakiari]?”

“…It’ll cost you.”

“What are your conditions?”

“Everything JJJ knows about [Hebi]. No more lies about not knowing
anything.”

Correct shrugged his shoulders. “Understood. We from JJJ would like our
relationship with the Office of Foreign Affairs to be steady after all.”

Klaus’ senses told him that there were no lies in the man’s words. He handed
him the case with Murasakiari inside. Honestly speaking, Klaus was in a bit
of conflict about this. [Murasakiari] held crucial information. However, he
doubted that a trained spy like him would just spit out any type of
information, and the risks of sending him home to the Republic had to be
considered as well. He decided that going for a trade with Musaia’s
intelligence agency was the most profitable choice.

“I heard…” Correct spoke up after they confirmed all the conditions. “That
your superior would sometimes visit this place.”

“No idea, I was working independently.”

Klaus hadn’t heard of Kouro acting here in Mitalio. Maybe she was doing

something during the Tolfa Economy Conference. He merely heard that she
was busy with taking back a biological virus weapon.

“My lord.” Correct shook his head. “With [Hebi] and everything, what is
going on in this world?” He grabbed the case, and walked away with a sigh.

Three days after the harsh battle ended, Tia and the other girls gathered at the
flat. With bad manners as always, Lily stood up at the table, and pointed her
fingers outside the window, announcing loudly.

“It’s time for some sightseeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!”

““““““Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!””””””

The girls raised cheers.

“That sure was a quick change of pace…” Sara showed a bewildered
expression.

Although the main goal of their mission was to secure Murasakiari, there
were many things left to take care of after. Especially taking care of the
[Worker Ants], which was left to Tia. At the same time, Klaus had some
discussions with the Musaia intelligence agency called JJJ, but he took care
of that himself. Thanks to the cooperation with JJJ, they could figure out
those who were related to the [Worker Ants]. Someone must surely hold
some information on [Hebi]. However, they decided to order the information
after they made it home.

“A first-rate spy needs time to rest!” Lily commented.

The girls had decided to go for some sightseeing after the mission was
completed. However, someone knocked on the door, and Klaus showed his
face.

“No, we don’t have any time for that. We’re leaving right away.”

“Why…?” Lily’s eyes were devoid of any emotion.

Klaus just handed Lily an envelope.

“According to JJJ, the police will release this tomorrow.”

The girls were all confused, opening the envelope. Seeing the insides, a
single individual raised a groan.

‘Lilirin Hepburn. Current location: Unknown. A waitress having worked at
the hamburger shop on the first floor of the Westport Building. When
questioned about suspected murder, she dropped her gun, and became
fugitive. Having set up explosions all over the city, playing with the police,
she committed suicide by burning herself to death inside the indoor garden of
the Westport Building. There have been doubts that she was involved in the
mysterious deaths of over 76 people.’

“When did I turn into such a villain?!” Lily raised a shriek.

‘Lilirin Hepburn’ was the name she’d used to stay undercover.

“Why? Why am I suddenly the mastermind behind all of that!”

“You are being wrongfully charged for the people Murasakiari killed this past
half of a year, as well as for the ruckus you and Annette caused while running
away. I talked things through with JJJ, so don’t worry.”

“Way too forceful!”

“We’re leaving throughout the day. By tomorrow, you’ll be accounted as
dead.”

Thus, the sightseeing had been cancelled, and the girls prepared to head
home. After that, this released report turned into a great topic all over Mitalio.
Publishing a picture that somewhat looked like Lily, but also didn’t, it was all
over the news, drawing circles inside the Federal State of Musaia.

The masses only knew of this evil woman called Lilirin, committing hideous
crimes. This legend gave Lily the nickname [Great Villainess Lilirin], but
Lily decided to fully forget about all of this.

—Of course, the existence of Murasakiari was buried in the shadows.

Under Lily’s leadership, they decided to take a luxurious ferry back, and
ordered top-class guest rooms, to make the one week travel more passable.
The second they entered the rooms, the girls jumped onto the beds, or started
a pillow fight. Elna ended up buried beneath all the pillows, equipped with
the bedding to make her into a goddess statue herself, named ‘Restrained
Elna’. Klaus watched this mindless ruckus, and realized that a single girl
wasn’t present.

He walked around inside the ferry, searching for the girl. On the way, he
spotted a vendor, so he bought some popcorn. Walking up to the deck, he
spotted a girl standing below the blue sky—Tia. She was watching the
scenery.

After the ferry set off, even the large buildings of Mitalio started to look
smaller and smaller. She had been overwhelmed by the sight of looking down
at the mainstreet up from their flat, but now they looked like small plastic
models. A breeze blew past them, making Tia’s hair flutter.

“Tia.” He called out to her.

“Sensei…”

“Why are you all alone out here? You didn’t have a fight, did you.” Klaus
stood next to Tia.

As if to follow the moving ferry, seagulls were flying next to the boat. Klaus
threw a bit of his popcorn, which they skillfully caught mid-air.

“Can I try it as well?” Tia asked, so Klaus offered her some.

However, it didn’t work out for her. She might have been too clumsy for that.
Klaus disregarded this, and spoke up.

“You did great work this time. If you hadn’t made Roland betray him, I
wouldn’t have been able to find Murasakiari’s hideout.”

“It’s thanks to everyone. They bet their lives to gather all this information.”

“Then, why are you all alone like this? Or was I just in the way?”

Tia gently shook her head.

“I was just thinking about something. If anything, it’s better if you’re with
me, Sensei.”

“What is it?”

“I was wondering what kind of spy Kouro-san was…”

That’s why she was still looking at the buildings of Mitalio. Because the spy
she had always admired passed away in that city. Klaus had trouble
responding right away.

“She was like a raging fire. At times warm, at times she burned down the
enemy…Apologies, but I can’t really put it into words.” He must have had
trouble finding the right words to describe it.

He yet again became aware of his inability to describe things.

“Do you mind if this turns out longer? Rather than explaining it, it’d be better
if I told you stories with her. This will be a long boat ride anyway.”

“Please do. I don’t mind listening no matter the time, if it’s about her.” Tia’s
cheeks relaxed, and her eyes lit up, like she came up with a wonderful idea.
“Why don’t we do this later at night? If you could come to mine and Grete’s
room this night, you could tell me everything as our bodies are connected—”

“You really have no discipline at all.” Klaus pressed his forehead. “Just to let
you know, here’s a man who’s bad at this sexual talk, alright.”

“Ugh…Monika told me the same thing…”

“Learn from your allies’ opinion, will you.”

“Recently, Sara and Zibia are holding some ‘Don’t listen to Tia’s advice’
meeting for Grete, do you know anything about that?”

“All I can say is that they’re doing God’s work.”

Tia dropped her shoulders.

“For crying out loud…Why can’t you be a bit more kind towards me, Sensei?
We’re in the same boat after all.”

“The same boat? Why?”

“Isn’t that obvious. We’re both fated to deal with [Hebi].” Tia announced
proudly, and Klaus didn’t deny that.

As of right now, only the two of them had some sort of direct connection to
[Hebi].

“Don’t carry it all on your own. Let me help with [Hebi].” Tia offered Klaus
her hand. “Let’s become the strongest partners.”

“………” Klaus was taken by surprise.

Until now, her ideals had been strong, but it felt like she was going nowhere.
Torn between ideals and reality, she was led around the nose by her allies.
Now however, she knew what she had to do, and appealed to Klaus.

“…The one who grew the most this time was you, I see.”

“E-Eh? Honestly speaking, I don’t feel much change—”

“…Marvelous.” Klaus took Tia’s hand. “I admire your determination. Let us
strike down [Hebi] together.”

“Yes, please treat me well.” She put more strength into her hand.

They shook hands. Following that, Tia started blushing ever so slightly, and
removed her hand.

“I-It would be bad if Grete got the wrong idea about this…So I’ll leave it at
this.”

“That’s right, I’d prefer it that way—”

“Indeed, as I have the duty to help the other members with their route of
love! It’s not just Grete, if there appears to be another girl having feelings for
you, I, the love master, will give them advice, and—”

“Throw away that duty and title right away.” Klaus gave a warning like he
really was bothered, to which Tia let out a laugh.

The two continued their conversation. Luckily, no people were around,
nobody eavesdropping. Klaus started telling of the other [Homura] members.

It consisted of the Boss, [Kouro]. Following Klaus was his teacher,
[Kyokou2] Guido. Next was an elderly woman, and an excellent sniper,
[Houraku3] Gelde, as well as the game and gambling loving brothers [Baien4]
Lukas and [Shakukotsu5] Ville. Finally, there was the poison-tongued elder
sister-type erotic novelist [Senwaku6] Heidi.

As Klaus spoke of all his former team members, Tia remembered something.

“Oh right, I could never keep that promise, huh…”

“Promise?”

“Yes, my promise with Kouro-san. She said she’d give me a present once we
meet again, and I was really looking forward to that.”

They were unable to meet again, and Tia hadn’t received this present.

“………” Klaus started thinking.

“Sensei, is something wrong?”

“No, I was just thinking that she must have prepared something beforehand
anyway. This is a job where you can die at any given moment after all.”

“Do you have any idea?”

“No, nothing. After she died, I went through all her belongings at the
Kagerou Palace. I can’t think of something that could fit…” He seemed to be
going through his memories, but couldn’t figure it out.

Tia showed a wry smile.

“Maybe she hid it in a place where even you couldn’t find it, Sensei.”

“…Yeah, it’s the Boss after all. She might have hid it inside the floor
somewhere.”

“Right. Then, let’s just tear down the entire walls when we get back?”

“Please don’t. Let’s at least search through the Boss room agai—”

Klaus stopped his words, and Tia’s eyes opened wide. They had remembered
the incident that happened a month ago—

““That room is…””

They groaned at the same time.

By the time the ferry made it to the Republic, Klaus and Tia went on ahead
back to the Kagerou Palace before the others, and headed upstairs to the
bedroom slightly bigger than the others’. It’s been a month since they had
seen it, but the catastrophe still looks fresh. Because of Annette’s explosion,
Lily’s current room ended up in ruins. Waterproof sheets were hung on the
walls, but no more repair work had been done so far.

Klaus touched the half-destroyed wall, and Tia looked at the floor.

“Found it.” Klaus was the first to speak up.

He took out a small iron box. If Annette hadn’t destroyed the room, they
probably wouldn’t have been able to find it. What a blessing in disguise.

“Tia, open it. It must be something for you, I’m sure.”

“Yeah…” Tia accepted the box, and swallowed her breath.

—This is the testament Kouro left behind for her. With quivering fingertips,
she opened up the box. Inside was a mysterious stick. Long and slender,
made out of brass, it had bumps here and there. Tia had no memory of this,
but she remembered something similar.

“…A key?”

The shape in itself seemed unfamiliar, but it definitely could be categorized
as a key. She showed it to Klaus, but he tilted his head in confusion all the
same. In the deeper part of the box was a message card.

—To the girl who will surpass me.

It was a brief sentence, but held enough content. Tia’s eyes started to grow
hot. They were not allowed to meet each other again. Tia couldn’t fulfill her
dream of working with the person she had always admired. Undoubtedly,
their story resulted in a Bad End. And yet, Kouro left her so many things.

“Sensei…” Tia spoke with a quivering voice. “Just once…Just this once, let
me borrow your chest…”

Klaus didn’t say anything, and just gently caressed Tia’s head, pulling her
closer as she let out large tears.

By the time Tia started crying, the other members returned themselves. They
would all naturally gather at the half-destroyed room. Seeing Tia with her red
eyes, they awkwardly averted their backs, and waited for the rest to arrive.
Once everyone was present, Lily clapped her hands together.

“Now, since the great mission is over, let’s repair my room!”

They had procrastinated as long as possible with this. Of course, the girls
themselves could not hope to deal with this, so they needed help–from fellow
spies.

“If we’re at it already, I’d love to have it renovated a bit~” Lily said.

“Lily, won’t you trade rooms with me?” Tia called out to her.

“Eh? Trade?”

“I’d like to inherit Kouro-san’s room. Okay? We can seal the deal today.” Tia
tilted her head innocently, speaking with a smile.

In the face of this, Lily narrowed her eyes.

“…Mm, I understand where you’re coming from, but this room is pretty big,
with a lot of light shining through the windows…”

“I’ll teach you some great techniques for reverse-pickups.”

“Why did you think that would turn into good negotiation material?”

Lily and Tia walked around the room, discussing conditions. At the same
time, Grete spoke up with a meek ‘…No’.

“Since this is Kouro-san’s room, Boss should be the one to inherit it.”

The gazes of the girls all went towards the man himself, Klaus. He hasn’t
changed his room ever since the [Homura] times, using the same small one in
the corner of the Palace. Klaus shook his head.

“Also, don’t call me Boss.” He said the same words as usual.

Everytime Grete referred to him as ‘Boss’, he would continue to deny that.
The only existence he saw as a ‘Boss’ was Kouro. Even after gathering the
girls under [Tomoshibi], he tried evading this name, as well as inheriting
Kouro’s room. This time however, Grete didn’t back down.

“…You’re wrong. Boss, you are the boss of this team.”

“Mm…” Even Klaus had no words to return.

“Aniki, the great me thinks so as well!” Annette joined in.

“Nano.” Elna agreed.

Zibia poked at Klaus’ side with her arm.

“Ain’t it fine? If we’re going to graduate, then you have to as well. From this
half-baked situation.”

—Graduation.

This is what Klaus told the girls before this dangerous mission. If they
managed to succeed, they would be regarded as proper spies. So they did, and
although there are some problematic aspects to them, they reached a level
where they could graduate from the educational facility. At speed faster than
anything Klaus had imagined, they had shown their growth.

And now, it was time to move onto the next stage. The battle with [Hebi]
would only grow more fierce from here on out. And, [Hebi] might not be
their only enemy. There will surely be even stronger foes waiting for them.
This being the case—this might be the perfect chance to make up his
determination.

Klaus’ Boss had already passed away. It was his turn to care for his team.

“That’s right—I am the Boss of [Tomoshibi].” Klaus answered.

As a spy, as a teacher, he was their Boss.

“Well, I’ll still call you [Sensei]. Am used to it after all.” Lily smiled.

“Glad to see you finally got some confidence, Klaus-san.” Monika acted as
arrogant as always.

“I’m relying on you, Boss.” Zibia said with a bit of embarrassment.

“So you finally granted my request…Boss.” Grete said, nodding happily.

“P-Please treat me well from now on as well, B-Boss…” Sara stuttered a bit,

as she lowered her head.
“The great me thinks that Aniki will always be Aniki.” Annette raised her
voice.
“Yep, Sensei is Sensei.” Elna agreed.
“I have high expectations for you as my partner, Sensei.” Tia winked.
“In the end, it’s all over the place, huh.”
Only Zibia and Sara changed to calling him Boss, but it’s not like Klaus
minded anyway. This was more than enough for him.
“—Marvelous.” Klaus muttered.
Thus, their battle moved on to the next stage.

I know I should be talking about the fourth volume here in the afterword, but
there’s a story I’d like to tell you when I was working on the third volume.
To be perfectly honest, I had planned to finish the first stage of the [Spy
Kyoushitsu] series with the fourth volume back when I first started writing
the series. Show the eight girls in the first volume, have them participate in
missions in groups of 4s, and then bring them together for the fourth volume,
on a bigger mission—that was the plan.

However, I had always pondered which girl to make the main of this fourth
volume. I really did. My plans were moving towards Tia, but there were
times when I jumped back and forth with another girl—Elna. Don’t you think
she would have been a worthy contender?

Even though she had been there from volume one, she had barely any
illustrations, and was left out of the December 2020 goods! She should
receive the spotlight at least for the final volume of the season! (Honestly, I
feel kind of bad).

That being said, when I was writing on the third volume, I realized.

“Mm!” “Mm?” “What misfortune…” “Mm!?”

Yeah, it’s not her…

I really like her as a character, but I felt like there was another story more fit
for her. So, please wait a bit longer for her turn. The main character for this
volume was Tia instead, but I still hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.

Now, for some news—By the time this fourth volume of Spy Kyoushitsu is
out, Seu Kaname-sensei’s comicalization will release its first volume as well.

I really love seeing all the girls moving, as it shows all the charm I can’t
show in my original (Annette especially is super cute).
As a matter of fact, I had written a new, original development which will start
in the later half of the first volume. With the help of Seu Kaname-sensei, I am
sure it will be a great and different experience from the source material.
Now, for my final report, with the next volume, the second season of [Spy
Kyoushitsu] will begin. How wonderful, don’t you think. I had planned on
showing a bit during the usual [NEXT MISSION] bit at the end of the
volume, but it turned out to be too stimulating, and I was told to remove it,
with the words ‘It’ll ruin the aftertaste!’. I’m sorry.

Extra Chapter: “Mm!”

She realized.

—That was gone.

“Mm?” Elna tilted her head.

She was a slender, young girl with her fragile fourteen years, possessing
beautiful golden hair with transparent snow white skin, resembling a doll
more than anything. This girl was now turning around her travelling bag in
her private room, throwing her body into the clothes closet, and opened up
drawer after drawer.

A few months ago, when she was scouted for [Tomoshibi], she had packed a
single travelling bag, and left the educational facility to move here. A bit of
time passed, and she felt like organizing her belongings, but she realized that
a certain object had gone missing. Indeed, she had no memory of ever using
that since she came to [Tomoshibi]. That must mean—

“Elna left it at the educational facility…”

All blood drained from her body. She wished to be wrong, and searched
around again, but even her second time around, she was unable to find it.
Thinking back on it, she was quite flustered being suddenly scouted like that,
so it made sense she forgot a thing or two. She could only return to the
educational facility to take it back, but…

“That place doesn’t have too many great memories…” She hesitated.

At the educational facility, she was a drop-out. Earning rock bottom grades
several times, she was being ridiculed by her surroundings. Even more so
because she was not the best at talking with others. Only closing her eyes was

enough to hear the voices coming back.

‘…Did you hear? The girl who lives in the same room as her ended up in an
accident.’

‘That rumour must have been true after all.’

‘Even now, she’s playing board games by herself…Pretty eerie if you ask
me.’

Elna shook her head, ridding herself from the voices of the past. This wasn’t
the time to be restrained by her memories. The more time she took now, the
higher the chance that it could be thrown away. She had to head over there
right away.

Heading over to the cafeteria. The other girls were preparing for the dinner.
They lined up the tableware for the delicious stew, and everyone was about to
sit down. There, a member of the group spotted her.

“Ah, Elna-chan, you’re late today.” It was Lily, a girl with silver hair, a
lovable outer appearance with a well-endowed bust. “Oh right, you
mentioned you wanted to show us something, right? Did you bring it with
you?” Lily asked with a smile.

That’s right, Elna’s plan for today was to show everyone that.

“Um…” Elna couldn’t find the right words.

“Hm?” Lily gave her a confused gaze.

Elna happened to cast her face down. She still felt fairly embarrassed talking
with the other members of [Tomoshibi]. In a place with more people talking,
she could join in fairly easily, but private situations are a bit awkward. She
shook her head, and mustered up her courage.

“Elna forgot something!”

All the girls present directed their attention over at Elna. She happened to
scream that out loud.

“I see, you’re one of those girls who has trouble adjusting their volume.” LIly
gave a wry smile, and took Elna’s hand. “You don’t have to be so nervous.
Take your time, and tell me.”

“Mm…”

“We’ll properly listen to your words, Elna-chan. Everyone feels the same.”
Lily showed a smile, and the other girls were joining in with nods, gentle
expressions on their faces.

Elna felt her heart warming up. She yet again realized that she had some great
allies. They accepted her misfortune attraction trait, and treated her kindly. So
much that she saw them as older sisters. That’s why she could say it in a
more calm voice this time.

“Elna forgot something at the educational facility, so she was hoping
someone could come with—”

“No thank you!”

“Mm!?”

Lily suddenly raised a loud voice, and crouched down. She covered her ears,
and rolled around on the floor, like a child causing a ruckus at a store.

“Not happening, not happening! Elna-chan, don’t ever open that mouth
again!”

“That’s too extreme of a turn!”

“Gaaaah, all the flashbacks inside my head!”

“Mm…?” Elna tilted her head, unable to grasp what was going on.

When she sought help from the others, they showed a similar reaction. Even
the usually arrogant and commanding white-haired girl Zibia, which was a
rare sight.

“Well, can’t say we have good memories from that place. It’s like a trauma.”

The calm, red-haired girl Grete joined in as well.
“…Honestly speaking, it is a place I would rather not return to.”
Indeed, just as Elna, the other girls of [Tomoshibi] were drop-outs. They had
made some horrible memories at their respective educational facilities.
Although Elna’s educational facility was different from the ones they had
attended, just the thought of visiting a place similar must be enough to leave
them frozen.
“S-Sara-oneechan…” Elna directed her gaze at the most reliable ally she had.
It was a brown-haired girl, possessing meek eyes like a small animal.
“I-I’m…I’m scared as well…Super scared actually…” Sara grew teary-eyed,
to Elna’s surprise.
However, she continued, while shaking.
“B-But, if Elna-senpai really wants to, then I will come with you…”
“E-Elna is really happy, Sara-oneechan…!”
As if to follow Sara’s courage, the other girls started to put up with their fear.
“Well, just coming with you should be fine?” Lily started.
“Right, I’m in.” Zibia joined in.
“…Yes, me too.” Grete added.
Elna smiled in relief. They really were wonderful allies. With this, she surely
should be able to get back her forgotten object—
“Stop right there.” A cold voice disrupted the atmosphere.
There was a bluish-silver haired girl, Monika, who watched this scene with a
bothersome expression.

“Everyone, are you serious? It’s just a trip to the educational facility. A mere
errand.”

“Mm…”

“Elna, you’re a spy now, you should be able to take care of that yourself. You
don’t need us to help on your errand, right?”

Met with this sudden criticism, Elna was at a loss for words. Monika’s point
was all too valid, and hit right where it hurt. Elna’s request was far too
childish. Even the girls that had been Elna’s allies so far suddenly changed
their minds.

“…That’s right, Monika has a point.” The charming black-haired girl, Tia,
sounded like she didn’t want to admit. “Elna, I’d love to come with you, but
I’d say it’s better for you to go alone this time.” She gave a sympathetic
voice, filled with kindness.

It was clear that she did feel bad. Elna herself had to accept this reality, and
nodded. Monika gave her a cold smile.

“That’s how it is. Conversation over.” She then looked over at her other
allies. “Same goes for you lot. You can’t help Elna just because you feel bad,
alright? It definitely won’t help her if you do.” Her voice was filled with
immense pressure.

Thus, it was decided that Elna would visit the educational facility all alone.
She was on a mission to retrieve the object she had lost. On the way there,
she felt helpless. Taking the steam locomotive and bus, it would take half a
day to arrive there. All in all, this trip back and forth would take a full day.
Elna had the travel papers and timetable ready, and left the Kagerou Palace.
Sara and Annette saw her off at the train station.

“I made some lunch for you. Eat it on the way.” Sara offered Elna a lunch
box, and some fruits.

Elna accepted these, and responded with a thankful ‘Thanks’.

“The great me has prepared a stun gun for you.” The ashen-pink haired girl,
wearing an eye patch over her left eye—Annette–gave Elna an actual
weapon.

“Something really is wrong with you,” Elna retorted, but still accepted it.

Seen off by these two, Elna walked inside. Passing the ticket gate, she was all
alone. The town she departed from held the third-highest population in the
entire country. Of course, the train station was at quite the size, with a lot of
people walking around. There were five different train platforms, and all of
them had trains waiting to be boarded. Because she was nervous, and rushing,
she felt her eyes spinning just looking around. Her heart was beating
painfully hard.

Can’t fail right from the start…

These two came to see her off, so she couldn’t turn around.

And also…this train station is as big that Elna would get lost…

Elna compared the handwritten memo with the billboard. This board had
large arrows, showing which train to take.

“This way.” She said, and headed to the green train platform.

As she walked away, she heard a train worker say ‘Wait, isn’t that billboard
crooked?’, but she probably didn’t have to worry about that.

The inside of the train was full to the brim. After somewhat safely finding her
designated seat, she sat down together with her backpack. Once the tension
was blown away, she let out a yawn.

Couldn’t sleep at all because Elna was so nervous…

Luckily, once she made it onto the designated train, she didn’t have to worry
about leaving for the next three hours. It might be wise to catch some sleep
while she could.

Two hours…should be fine…

Elna closed her eyelids, and stopped thinking. Her field of view slowly was
filled with darkness, as the sudden sleepiness set in, her consciousness
growing hazy. In the middle of that, she heard the conductor announce ‘This
railroad leads to—. Express train.’

…Really? Was Elna really supposed to head that way? Doubts filled her
head, but she couldn’t win against the sleepiness demon. Elna fell asleep. The
loud ringing of the train leaving resounded. Finally, when the train was about
to move—

“—Oh, dear customer! Your ticket seems to be wrong, so I’m going to throw
you out now!”

“Mm?”

Someone grabbed Elna by the collar, and she was thrown outside the
window. Even though she hadn’t taken the backpack with her, it somehow
landed next to her on the ground. Elna was left in confusion, as the train took
off. Not given a chance to react, a woman next to Elna suddenly started
screaming.

“My, how troublesome! The express train to Melatokk is leaving in three
minutes from platform four right here! I have to hurry!” She spoke in a rather
explanatory tone, and walked away.

The train she talked about was the exact one Elna had to take. The realization
set in—

“Elna took the wrong train!” Her eyes opened wide, and she ran towards the
correct train platform.

…Still, what a weird train conductor and Onee-san…

Elna thanked them in her mind, and walked away.

“…Hey, Monika. Didn’t you tell us not to help her yesterday?”

“…I just happened to pass by here.”

“I see…so you were feeling bad because you said too much yesterday,
right?”

“Shut up, Tia. What about you, talking about ‘practice’, and whatever?”

“I-It’s just a coincidence. This is Elna’s practice, so I wouldn’t help her any
further.”

“Well, I doubt she’s going to need any more help than this anyway.”

“No, we won’t know. Elna is known to cause trouble with trains.”

“I highly doubt it.”

“Should we bet? The loser has to pay lunch.”

“I don’t mind betting an entire dinner.”

The emergency brakes of the train were pulled.

“Train trouble!” Elna screamed, using her naturally good reflexes to avoid
hitting her head at the seat in front of her.

She used the backpack next to her to block the impact. Right after, the sound
of something breaking rang out. The train came to a halt. At her back, she
heard someone screaming ‘Is she for real!?’. After waiting for a brief
moment, she received the explanation that this problem wouldn’t be fixed for
a while, and was asked to leave the train. They made it a good way near the
destined train station, but walking would take a solid two hours. Since that
was their only option however, the other people started making their way,
clearly annoyed.

“What misfortune…” Elna muttered.

They got off at a nearby rural village, filled with large fields. No signs of
cabs or busses driving around. Private houses could be seen past a far
mountain.

Elna’s backpack broke as well…

It was because she used it as a cushion during the emergency stop. The metal
fitting broke, so walking while carrying it would spill all the contents. It was
a shame, but she didn’t have the tools to fix it, so she was stuck there. Right
as she was lost on what to do, a single cab drove her way. Not to mention that
is stopped right in front of her, with no other people around.

“…Lady, would you like a ride?” An older lady showed her face from the
open window.

Even Elna, who had trouble dealing with strangers, wasn’t too scared.

“B-But…” She grew a bit worried. “Elna doesn’t have much money…”

“No no.” The driver shook her head. “Today we have a golden-hair money
campaign, where you can get a free ride…”

“Amazing!”

“At the same, you can have your backpack fixed for free as well…”

“So amazing!”

With feelings of half belief, half trust, Elna handed the backpack to the
driver. She then threw the backpack to the backseat, as hands grabbed this,
pulling it into the darkness.

“The great me will get to fixing it.” A voice resounded.

“Mm?” Elna felt like the voice sounded familiar, tilting her head.

“…That was the sound of the engine.”

“It sounded like a person.”

However, since the nice driving lady said so, Elna could only believe those
words. After a moment passed, the engine said ‘The great me finished
repairing it.’, and threw the backpack to the front seat. Elna went to check the
condition, and saw that it had been fixed perfectly. However—

“? Why are there bites missing from the fruits?”

“…It must be your imagination.” The cab driver opened the door, and invited
Elna in. “Please put on your seatbelt during the drive…”

“Of course.”

“Then, please cover your ears, and don’t ever look at the backseat…”

“There’s a lot of rules!”

“If you were to break these rules, we would be forced to let you out mid-
drive.”

“Isn’t that a bit too strict?” Elna covered her ears to the best of her ability.

She felt like someone hopped onto the backseat, but the results said no
turning around.

—During the drive, a conversation happened as Elna covered her ears.

“Hey, Grete, you’re wearing a disguise right. You were worried after all,
weren’t you?”

“…Grete? I am but a mere cab driver.”

“If you’re going to feign ignorance, then what is that voice I can hear from
that black box—”

“The great me is just a machine.”

“—Any plan on explaining that all-too-familiar voice, hm?” Monika

narrowed her eyes.

“…It is the sound of the engine.”

“And Elna seriously believed that?”

“…She must have been in a panic. Even now, she is desperately closing off
her ears.”

“It makes me want to test how far we can take this. Can I poke at her head?”

“Mm! Something is in the backseat!”

“There, there.”

“M-Mm! B-But, Elna won’t turn around!”

“The great me brought a lot of prank goods.”

“Nice, let’s try them all out.”

“Mmmm! Something is tickling Elna!”

“Monika, Annette, stop it…It seems really fun, I might just join in
otherwise…”

An hour passed, as Elna was shaken back and forth inside the car. They
arrived at their destination. Luckily the cab even brought Elna close to her
educational facility, so there was no need for her to take the bus. Not to
mention that Elna didn’t even tell the cab driver of where she wanted to go.

What a kind driver that was.

Elna wanted to properly thank the woman, but the car drove away right away.
What a mysterious incident. Elna headed over to the educational facility. In
this small rural city with a mere thousand inhabitants, Elna had to climb a
small hill, and immediately found the school, disguised as a spinning factory

mainly attended by female workers.

Just a bit longer, and then Elna made it.

Because of the trouble happening with the train, she lost quite some time. If
she doesn’t hurry, she might not even catch the train back home. She walked
through the alley, and had to enter a special mountain road. Trying to
remember the road, she took a turn at the intersection, when a shadow
appeared.

“Woah.” A rough, deep voice rang out.

“Mm?” Elna let out a groan.

Following that, a shattering sound was heard. She must have bumped into
someone when turning the corner.

“H-Hey, bastard. You broke my alcohol…” It was a drunkard with a beet red
face.

At his feet was a broken beer bottle.

“Mm…”

Elna wanted to say that since they both bumped into each other, they should
share the responsibility, but the man didn’t seem to be in a situation where
calmly discussing this was possible. His reasoning must have been blown off
because of the alcohol.

“Don’t just keep quiet like that! You brat, do you want to get killed or
something!?” He suddenly started screaming, glaring at Elna.

He must have been stressed before, as he blew a fuse a second into the
conversation. Elna readied herself. She could not run away from this bout any
longer. He put one hand into his back pocket, and showed the gesture of
taking out a weapon, but…

“—Huh? Where did my knife go?”

Elna felt like she saw a white-haired girl pass by the two for a fragment of a
second. Elna was left confused, when the man suddenly started fidgeting.
“S-Suddenly, I need to take a trip to the toilet…Hey, brat, don’t you dare
move from that place. I’ll deal with you later!” The man turned his back to
Elna, and ran away.
Of course, Elna had no reason to wait, so she moved from that location
herself. She didn’t know how, but she managed to overcome this situation.
Things are going pretty smooth today…
Elna was oddly satisfied.

—At the corner of the street, a bit behind Elna.
“So you came as well!?”
“Calm down there, Lily was adamant on looking after her, so I had to tag
along.”
“No no no. Zibia-chan constantly was in my ears.”
“You’re spoiling Elna too much!”
“You say that, but you’re here as well, Monika-chan.”
“Right right, you have no right to complain, Monika.”
“I’m enough to help her! You all go home and practice!”
“The great me thinks that taking a drive once in a while isn’t so bad.”
“…Correct. We should have invited Sara-san as well, perhaps.” Grete added.
“No need to worry about her. Rather than that, the biggest problem is still up
ahead. Will she be able to deal with that?” Tia asked a question.

She made her way through the alley. At times, Elna’s heart started racing, as
a bad sweat ran down her back. She was careful not to run into anybody any
more. Whenever she went to the city from her educational facility, she had to
overcome these traps.

This is the place Elna lived at…

Every time she sucked in the warm and muddy air, she remembered the
hellish days from back then. She had to read a thousand pages a day,
memorize them, learn the vocabulary of more than seven countries, and run
the same distance of at least 100 kilometers day in day out. The food was
awful, and they only received the bare minimum of proviants. The dorm was
old and muddy, the environment not exactly positive.

However, it’s not like Elna was a bad student. Seeing that she was merely
fourteen at the time, she showed excellent results.

Only the actual practical exams were bad…

The written exams showed no problems. The real misfortune set it when it
came to the practical exams.

‘Work together as a team, and grasp the weakness of your assigned target.’

—Since her teammates were wrapped up in Elna’s misfortune, they failed.

‘Get closer to the assigned target, and find out their family’s situation.’

—Because of Elna’s ominous ability, the target ran away from her.

‘Form a team of four, and steal the documents from the enemy team.’

—Nobody would take Elna into their group, so she failed by default.

The exam contents and failure played again and again inside Elna’s head.

It wouldn’t have been weird to be kicked out soon…

If she hadn’t gotten good grades at the written exam, that would have been
the end of it. Every time, Elna felt like running away, saying that it was
impossible. Even so, she clung to the school.

—Elna wanted to show Mama and Papa, Onii-chan and Onee-chan that she
can do fine on my own…

She had lost her family during a fire when she was young. She had to live on
without her family, and it was her wish to live her own life.

That’s why, Elna will go take back what she forgot, all on her own!

Making up her resolve, Elna took a step forward. A bell was hung up next to
the gate.

Now Elna only needs to explain the situation to the receptionist…

It happened the second Elna reached for the bell, as she heard a rustling
sound. A few girls appeared, wearing training clothes. Their eyes met with
Elna’s, and they let out a surprised ‘Ah’. They knew of Elna. They were the
more excellent students at the educational facility. They were greatly
different from the drop-out Elna. They were always enjoying themselves.

—Huh? Why did that girl come back?

—She’s just some irregular, she doesn’t belong here.

That’s what their eyes seemed to be saying. Elna felt like her throat tightened
up, her lungs collapsing. Her past experiences all came back to her head.
Instinctively, she walked away from the gate, away from the girls.

—In the alleyway.

“Hey, Elna is coming back. Hm? She looks weird.”

“The great me thinks she looks like she is suffering.”

“…That’s right, maybe some trouble happened.”

“Someone comfort her. I’m not fit out for that.”

“Right. Since Sara isn’t around, I’ll go.”

“Hm? Wait, her expression changed yet again?”

Walking back to the town, Elna sat down on the stairs at a back alley. It was
about time for the sun to start setting. If she doesn’t act soon, she won’t make
it back to the Kagerou Palace today. Her head knew of this, but her feet
wouldn’t move again.

Elna ran away…yet again…

Her feelings were hitting rock bottom. In the shadows of a brick house, Elna
dropped her shoulders. As a matter of fact, the girls at the gate might not have
looked down on Elna after all. It could have been her imagination, and that
was more plausible than anything. However, Elna’s heart still broke in the
process. Meeting the people she never wanted to run into again—

Might be better to just give up…They probably threw that away already…

It sounded more than possible. Or, that’s at least what she told herself, to
convince herself. She should just convince her other allies with that, that the
object was already gone.

Suddenly, her stomach grumbled with a loud Grrroh.

Hungry…

Elna decided to eat something before she went home, and opened her
backpack. There, she found Sara’s lunch box. Pulling off the lid, she found
many different sandwiches, filled with Elna’s favorite eggs, and no sight of
the tomatoes she dislikes so much. Taking a bite, the gentle taste of egg and
basil filled her mouth. It was like Sara’s feelings directly.

“…Sorry, Sara.” She muttered, as tears rolled down her cheek. “Elna couldn’t
respond to your expectations…”

She felt pathetic, like a small child—Trying to hide her failure by spreading
false information like that. In reality, she hasn’t grown all too much. She left
her educational facility, and joined [Tomoshibi], changing from drop-out to
trainee. She practiced with her allies, succeeded at an Impassable Mission,
and found a bit more confidence. However, this was the result. The pride of
not being a drop-out any longer—it broke apart.

“Mm!”

Elna stuffed her mouth with the sandwiches. Every single taste ended up
mixed together, like drawing her own feelings. Mid-way, a bit of it got stuck
in the wrong pipe, so she had to drink water, beating on her own chest.

“W-What misfortune…Mm?” Coughing up a bit of air, she found a piece of
paper at the ground.

It seemed to be a letter. It must have been inside the lunch box. With familiar
bad writing, she found a short message.

‘Be more proud. You have allies with you.’

No doubting it, that message had to be from Klaus. Sara must have asked him
to write that. They were two small sentences, and yet they had enough impact
to make Elna get emotional again.

That’s right…Elna has all these kind Onee-chans now…

She received these allies thanks to joining [Tomoshibi].

Even if people make fun of Elna, and look down on her, this fact won’t
change.

She closed her eyes, and remembered the words he said again and again.

What does talent at the educational facility really mean? The world’s
strongest spy had chosen her.
“Mm!” Elna screamed, and stood up, motivating herself.
She closed the lunch box, and took out the stun gun she received from
Annette. She put on the switch, as a bluish-white lighting flickered up. This
definitely held enough power to kill a person. Elna felt like she was
invincible.
“Let’s do this!” Elna made her way to the educational facility again.
There was nothing to be afraid of.
“Alright!”
For a second, Elna felt like she heard the cheering voices of her allies.

—A few hours later, at the Kagerou Palace.
“Thank god that worked out. Seems like Elna got there safely.”
“Yeah, that was wonderful. Though I don’t understand why she had a stun
gun.”
“…She must have motivated herself. It was a sign of her courage.”
“The great me was moved.”
“Anyway, that’s one incident done. This must have been great practice for
Elna.”
“Indeed…But, what is this good smell?”
“Senpais? Were you out somewhere?”
““““““Sara?””””””
