MULSANNE HALLMARK SERIES
BY MULLINER

The latest limited edition from Mulliner: the Mulsanne Hallmark.

Limited to just 50 cars, the Mulsanne Hallmark Series by Mulliner has been exquisitely crafted by our personal
commissioning division Mulliner, taking all their expertise and craftsmanship to create a true masterclass in luxury
motoring. There will be two options available – silver or gold – with the low production run reflecting the rarity of
these precious metals. And just as precious metals are identified by hallmarks, the new Mulsanne Hallmark Series
by Mulliner bears the unmistakable signs of Mulliner craftsmanship and authenticity.
The car pictured is the silver variant, as shown at Geneva, and the 21-inch Polished MDS Alloy Wheels, hallmarked
solid silver Flying ‘B’ mascot, complete with plinth engraved with ‘Commissioned by Mulliner’, the Hallmark
Illuminated Treadplate and silver painted Fine Line all combine to emphasise the car’s exclusivity. The stainless steel
treadplate plaques are engraved with ‘1 of 50’, a subtle but powerful reminder of the car’s rarity. The ‘gold variant’
enjoys the same exquisite design touches, including a 23.9 carat gold-plated Flying ‘B’ and gold painted fine line.
The interior is equally well considered. As well as a bespoke colour split, the Porpoise and Linen Hide with Silver
embroidery and piping enhance the luxurious ambience. This sense of ultimate luxury continues with the Mulliner
Quilting to the seat centres, silver or gold metallic hide to the Hidden Delights areas and piping, and the painted
veneer, which matches the secondary hide. These are complemented by silver or gold Mulliner overlays to the fascia.
Then there are the customary Mulliner touches – a silver or gold-plated veneer inlay to the waistrails, Alcantara
rear cushions and optional bespoke dyed Lambswool rugs. The Limited Edition is available globally and across the
Mulsanne range, allowing customers to order it in Mulsanne, Speed or EWB variants.

DUO-TONE

We are proud to announce the launch of Duo-Tone exterior colour
schemes – a first for Bentayga.

Available with immediate effect, these striking themes emphasise Bentayga’s flowing yet
rugged styling lines, while simultaneously allowing owners to make the ultimate highly
distinctive visual statement.

A total of 12 recommended colour schemes have been developed by Bentley’s Colour and
Trim experts, giving a total of 24 available combinations when the colours are reversed.
The 12 recommended colour schemes can be split into three categories – Elegance,
Sporty and Statement.

‘Elegance’ schemes make full use of the extensive range of colours available in Bentley’s palette to provide elegant
and luxurious tone-on-tone themes. The ‘Sporty’ schemes are firmly positioned at the performance end of the
spectrum, combining a bold colour with one of Bentley’s many dramatic shades of black. For customers wanting
to make an even bolder impression, the ‘Statement’ schemes are vivid and extrovert. It was the Silver Storm over
Damson combination from the Statement selection that was displayed to great effect at the Geneva launch of
Bentayga Mulliner.

The full list of the 12 recommended schemes are:

Sporty schemes

Rubino Red over Black Crystal
Orange Flame over Onyx
Ice over Black Crystal
Sequin Blue over Black Sapphire

Elegance schemes

Light Windsor Blue over Windsor Blue
Pale Brodgar over Brodgar
Rose Gold over Magnetic
Extreme Silver over Light Onyx

Statement schemes

Silver Storm over Damson
Moonbeam over Moroccan Blue
Magnolia over Orange Flame
White Sand over Verdant

The reverse of each of these colour schemes is also available to view on the Bentley Configurator.

Should a customer wish to specify their own, unique Duo-Tone colour scheme, they are able to do this through
our Mulliner personal commissioning division.

Duo-Tone paint will be available to order in BOOM from April 2017 submissions onwards in all markets and on
all Bentayga derivatives.

BENTAYGA FALCONRY BY MULLINER

Meet the ultimate accessory for the falconry enthusiast – the new
Bentayga Falconry by Mulliner.

Handcrafted by Mulliner – Bentley’s personal commissioning division – the Bentayga Falconry features a bespoke
installation in the rear, which houses all the equipment required for an enjoyable falconry expedition. Of course, this
being a Mulliner creation, only the very best materials have been used, and the standout feature of this car is the
exquisite Saker falcon marquetry on the dashboard.
Every piece of wood has been carefully chosen for its properties, such as the speckling of Lacewood that mimics
the rippling of the windswept desert, and no stone has been left unturned in the quest for perfection. In the
depiction of the falcon itself, the vanes of each individual feather are achieved by cutting the shape from specific
veneers, while sand shading – a classic handcrafting technique that enhances definition – adds a darker gradient to
the tips of the wings, creating shadow and the illusion of depth.
It’s an amazing piece of craftsmanship, and every one of the 430 pieces used in the marquetry inlay has undergone
four separate processes of cutting, sand shading, pressing and double cutting, before being assembled by hand over
nine days. But the Bentayga Falconry is also a car which is fit for purpose, as witnessed by the master flight station
and a refreshment case. Trimmed in natural cork, these sit on a movable tray that allows for easy access.
Beneath this is a laser-embossed Hotspur hide stowage tray with individual compartments for a GPS bird tracking
unit, binoculars and handcrafted leather bird hoods and gauntlets, all of which are available as options. The
refreshment case houses three metal flasks and durable cups, a blanket and refreshing face cloths.
Inside Bentayga’s well-appointed cabin, there is also a removable transportation perch and tether on the
central armrest.

CAPTURE OUR CARS
PROFESSIONALLY

A new imagery app will help Retailers to provide the very best professional
photographs and videos to customers.

While our cars are looking resplendent in showrooms, it’s important to accurately and faithfully capture this beauty in
photographs and videos. To this end, a new imagery app called AutoCAPTURE™ for Bentley will soon appear on all
Retailer iPads.
Designed to allow you to easily record and upload high quality video and images of the cars direct to the Pre-Owned
Stock Locator – or to the customers themselves – the app is a useful tool for securing Pre-Owned sales as it allows
you to engage with customers by offering images and videos that are specific to the customers’ particular needs.
AutoCAPTURE™ for Bentley helps you to capture the car from the best angles, ensuring that professional photos and
videos are taken every time. For example, one of the features provides a ‘ghost’ image of the car being photographed,
so the Retailer can align the vehicle and features at the right angles.
The app also positions the car onto a pre-determined background – meaning that all images and videos will look
consistent for customers – and automatically uploads assets to the Pre-Owned Stock Locator. In the AutoCONTROL
administration part of the website, you can easily manage the photos and videos you have taken and add comments
about the cars.
Although the AutoCAPTURE™ app is easy to use, there is a training guide that gives plenty of hints and tips for
first-time users. Please set aside time and complete the E-Learning module, which explains every aspect of the tool.
There is also a help desk, which provides round-the clock-support: support@autosonshow.tv

ALL-NEW BENTLEY GT3 RACE CAR

All eyes were on Bentley as Bentley Motorsport unveiled its all-new
Continental GT3 race car.

The car, which is currently in development for the 2018 motorsport season, will be the second-generation Continental
GT3, and has been designed from the all-new Continental GT road car, utilising its mostly aluminium structure as
the foundation to deliver a race-ready weight of significantly less than 1,300 kg and helping to deliver an ideal weight
distribution for racing.
The car boasts a new development of the renowned and race-proven 4.0-litre Bentley twin-turbo V8, with a totally
redesigned dry sump system and all-new intake and exhaust systems – enough to ensure it has an impressive
unrestricted power in excess of 550bhp. Other race features include bespoke suspension and braking systems,
while a comprehensive aerodynamic package enhances the muscular exterior panels with aerodynamic devices for
additional downforce.
Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush, comments: “After four years of success with our Continental GT3, we’re
excited to reveal our second-generation car. The new car leaves no area or system untouched in the search for even
better performance and the early test results are promising.”
The all-new race car has already started a six-month test programme to pick up the mantle from its championship-
winning predecessor, completing test work in the UK, France and Portugal. Upcoming development work includes full
24-hour endurance race simulations.
Bentley Motorsport is also announcing its plans for the 2018 season. After the successful 2017 season, which saw
the team capture the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, Bentley Motorsport will run a pair of new Continental GT3
racers across Europe in this season’s contest. It will also compete around the world in the four-round Intercontinental
GT Challenge. The new car will be available for customer sales in June 2018.

PHILIP SCHOCH LOOKS AT THE
UPCOMING NEW SPECIFICATIONS
FOR BENTAYGA

Q: 2017 sees some additions to the Bentayga range. What exactly does this mean?
PS: Our ground-breaking SUV has been a resounding success, and demand is far exceeding our wildest expectations.
To cater for this insatiable thirst for Bentayga, Bentley is about to introduce a range of region-specific specifications:
Onyx Edition, Black Specification and Activity Specification.
Q: Talk us through the Onyx Edition:
PS: The introduction of Diesel continues apace, but in markets where Diesel is not available, we needed a car to cater
to customers who are potential buyers – hence we’ve introduced the Bentayga Onyx Edition.
The car is essentially a lower spec’d W12, and the base price lies between V8 Diesel and W12.
Q: What markets is the Onyx Edition available in?
PS: Available to order from 9 January, it is only being made available in the following markets: Russia, Belarus,
Kazakhstan & Azerbaijan, The Americas, China & the Asia Pacific/International region (except Australia, New
Zealand, Taiwan and South Korea).
Please note that the Onyx Edition will not be available to order in markets that can order the Bentayga V8 Diesel
(e.g. UK & Europe) as the V8 Diesel is meant to be the entry model and we would not want to dilute neither this
V8 position nor the current W12 product proposition.

Bentley Motors Europe PS TALK
January 2017

Q: There will be two new option packages for Bentayga. What are they?
The Black Specification and Activity Specification, both will be available for Bentayga W12 and V8 Diesel.
Q: Talk us through Black Specification.
PS: Black Specification has been designed to make a statement, and this is the choice for owners wishing to give
their Bentayga a distinctive and striking appearance.
The specification adds two new features, Gloss black painted exhaust tailpipes and black painted 22” 5 spoke
directional alloy wheels, and combines these with the factory fitment of the Bentayga Styling Specification and the
Blackline specification. The results are striking and give the car additional purpose and even more presence.
Please be careful as this specification is still work in progress and timings for order opening are still to be confirmed.
More information will come in due time. Please do not promote it actively for the moment.
Q: What are the features included in the Activity Specification?
PS: The Activity Specification brings together five of the current Bentayga options that emphasise the suitability of
the car to support a variety of different lifestyles.
7 Seat Specification
Tow Bar (where legally permitted; depending on market)
Hands-free Tailgate
Sunshine Specification
Luggage Management
This option will be attractively priced with a pack discount to encourage uptake and will be available on all Bentayga
models. Full pricing details will be included in the updated Price Book.
Q: Do the towing restrictions for cars with 7 seat specification still apply?
PS: In a word, yes. The Bentayga towing restrictions which we announced in October had also to be extended to a
number of other countries.
The move comes in order to comply with legal Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) restrictions, which means we are
forced to implement certain restrictions on Bentaygas specified with 7 seats.
These restrictions will ensure that a car with 7 passengers, filled with all fuels, and towing the permitted capacity,
does not go above the maximum GVW of 3250kg.

ANALYSING BENTLEY’S VISION OF
THE FUTURE

Q: What are we talking about here?
PS: While speaking at the annual Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, USA Bentley Chairman and CEO, Mr
Wolfgang Dürheimer, has outlined his vision for the future of luxury mobility and Bentley’s role in defining it.
Q: Could you give us a summary of the vision?
PS: As millennials join the rising affluent of the developing world and generation ‘C’ (people who care about creation,
curation, connection and community) we are going to see huge changes to our customer demographic over the next
decade. Attitude rather than age will be the defining characteristic of this generation and our response to that is vital.
Q: What does this changing demographic and customer base mean?
PS: Even more so than today, customers of the future will demand instant, unobstructed access to technology,
information and convenience, we as a brand need to react to that whilst retaining the level of craftmanship that make
our cars so truly extraordinary. They will also live in an increasingly urbanised world and because of this they have an
entirely different attitude towards vehicle ownership.
Q: How can we meet this challenge head on?
PS: We need to ensure we embrace this change and that we take a leading role in defining the future of luxury
mobility. In his speech last week Mr Durheimer illustrated a couple of ideas which Bentley could utilise in order to
do this, “there is a big future in more diverse and sophisticated concierge-style services that will enhance the lives
of our customers. We are also investigating a global Bentley customer network – a ‘club’ where ownership does not
relate to a single vehicle, but rather it entitles you to a luxury mobility solution in selected cities around the world.”
Mr. Durheimer continued: “We will certainly use new technology to enhance traditional and authentic materials in
new and contemporary ways. One possible example of this could be to overlay OLED screens across wood veneers.
These ultra-thin screens would be invisible except when in use, for example, to control the audio or HVAC systems.”

SUPERSPORTS UNDER THE
SPOTLIGHT

Q: Could you sum up the car?
PS: The Continental Supersports is the world’s fastest four-seater, capable of unleashing
supercar performance every time the throttle is pressed. It’s the quickest accelerating
and most powerful Bentley to date; a car which delivers supercar performance without
compromising ride or refinement.

Q: What are the headline figures?
PS: The mighty W12 engine has been extensively modified to produce 710PS, which
is enough to propel the car from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds, and onto a top speed
336km/h in coupe form.

Q: How has this level of performance been achieved?
PS: The already mighty W12 features new twin turbochargers which eliminate lag and create a feeling of seamless
thrust across the entire rev range, providing blistering performance. The turbochargers themselves are motorsport
derived, and this has allowed us to use a bigger turbo to get the power and torque output we desired.

Q: There must be more to the car’s blistering acceleration than turbos alone. Could you elaborate?
PS: The increase in torque has been complemented by other areas of the engine which have been modified to
support the Supersports’ more extreme levels of performance. The engine main and conrod bearings take their
design from the advanced TSI W12 engine fitted to
Bentayga, while an increased capacity Variable Power Assisted Steering (VPAS) cooler has been fitted to support
the higher cornering loads afforded by the Torque Vectoring and carbon ceramic brakes.

Q: And how does the car make use of this class leading level of torque?
PS: Supersports features an enhanced specification crankshaft, which is capable of handling the phenomenal
amount of torque the car produces, and there is also a new torque converter which gives a crisper, sharper initial
response when the car is pulling away.

Q: And how can the drivers exploit all this power?
PS: There are two drive modes – Drive and Sport – and these have been calibrated so that Supersports offers the
best of both worlds. Drive delivers Bentley’s trademark blend of comfort and refinement for the true ‘GT driving
experience’, while Sport sees the dial turned up to 10 – the pedal responses are more aggressive, the revs between
gear changes are set higher, the exhaust note changes and the car feels more responsive.

Q: Supersports features torque vectoring. Can you explain what this is and why it’s needed?
PS: The Continental platform has a natural bias towards understeer, but Supersports features cutting edge
technology to combat this. Supersports make use of torque vectoring to give the feeling of reduced understeer
when accelerating hard out of a corner. The effects of using this torque vectoring system are clear to the driver
– the car feels lighter and more dynamic when exiting a corner on the throttle. This is supported by less ESC
intervention, which makes the car feel punchier out of corners.

Q: And does this sportiness come at the expense of passenger comfort and refinement?
PS: Of course not. This is a Bentley so comfort is of paramount importance. However, while Supersports is capable
of delivering a silky smooth ride, it is equipped with an enhanced version of the suspension hardware found in the
GT Speed, and this, when combined with the torque vectoring system, gives the car the ideal balance between ride
and handling. Also check out the new possibilities / updates of configuring the Supersports for your customers.

PHILIP SCHOCH EXAMINES SOME
OF THE EXOTICA APPEARING AT
THE GENEVA MOTOR SHOW

Europe’s most prestigious motor show is almost upon us. Here are the cars you should look out for if you’re heading
to Geneva…
Lamborghini Huracan Perfomante: increased power, reworked suspension, improved ABS, stability and traction
control programs, upgraded transmission, decreased weight and a totally new active aerodynamics system –
Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA).
Instead of traditional wings and spoilers, ALA uses fast-acting, electronically controlled motors to open and close flaps.
The Performante has a little flap in its nose, which can open to decrease downforce and drag. The groundbreaking part
of ALA is found in the hollow carbon fibre wing. Each of the big uprights that support the wing is also hollow. These
dual flaps can open to reduce drag and close to increase downforce. Or they can open one at a time. Very impressive.
Range Rover Velar: this coupe SUV has a significantly lower roofline than the Sport, and as a result its driving position
is also lower. This new model sits on an aluminium frame, and is powered by a six cylinder petrol engine, which I
expect will be joined later on by four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines later in its production cycle.

Mercedes Benz Maybach G650 Landaulet: The iconic G-Wagon gets an extensive workover to create this rare
body style, the Landaulet
FYI: A landaulet or landaulette is a car body style similar to a limousine, but with the rear passenger section
covered by a convertible top. It was based on a carriage of similar style that was a cut-down (coupe) version of a
landau. Landaulets are usually used by public figures in formal processions.
The car gets the G65 AMG’s twin-turbocharged V12, the rear seats from the Maybach S-Class and the rear portion
of the standard fixed roof replaced by a power-operated fabric top. No pricing is available yet. Production will be
limited to 99 units.
McLaren Super Series: The P14 is the successor to the 650S, the first in a line of second-generation Super Series
cars.
The car features an all-new carbon fibre monocoque and three suspension modes – Comfort, Sport and Track – and
uses 12 more sensors than the 650S to measure damping, how much of the tyre is in contact with the tarmac and
real-time acceleration on each wheel hub. It’s also lighter and more powerful, with the 3.8-litre V8 producing 678PS.
Pagani Huayra Roadster: The aggressive styling of this car hints at the raw power which lurks beneath its angular
bodywork. The 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 produces 740PS, and has a top speed of 370km/h. Production will be less
than 40, with each car costing 700.000€.

But of course there are some subtle indications: On the outside, three-dimensional copper detailing to the front grille
identifies the EXP 12 Speed 6e as a fully electric vehicle, and this theme continues with copper accents in the badges
and brake calipers.
What about the technology?
The car showcases state-of-the-art technology applied in a luxurious way – the wing mirrors are cameras; creating a
sleeker, more sculptural form; and the charging point is discretely hidden behind the rear number plate.
Why does this car matter?
The EXP 12 Speed 6e gives a tantalising taste of the future direction the brand will take and shows just how seriously
we are taking the challenge of harnessing sustainable energy, and just how advanced our efforts are. It is also a visual
demonstration of our commitment to future proofing our brand for the luxury customers of tomorrow.

THE WORLD’S MOST LUXURIOUS
SUV JUST STEPPED UP ANOTHER
NOTCH

What is it?
Bentayga Mulliner is a new twist on the most luxurious SUV in the world. The car is based on Bentley’s class-
leading 6.0-litre, W12 powered SUV and enhances it, with Mulliner blending its coachbuilding expertise with
contemporary design to create the pinnacle Bentayga.
What are the key design features?
Bentayga Mulliner features a range of design cues which push the boundaries of design, including an Ombré Burr
Walnut Veneer, new Mulliner 22 inch Paragon Wheels with Floating Wheel Centres and a bespoke interior colour
split with contrast embroidery.
What makes the Ombré Burr Walnut so special?
The Ombré Burr Walnut Veneer is a work of art, and has to be seen in the flesh to truly appreciate its complexity
and beauty. This sophisticated finish transitions seamlessly from Piano Black stain in the front of the cabin to Burr
Walnut in the rear.
What about the interior?
Mulliner has combined traditional and modern coachbuilding design to create a new interior colour split with
the front seats finished in one, darker, hide colour and the rear seats finished in another, lighter, hide colour.
This all-new interior split is offered in seven suggested colour ways, bringing the focus to the rear passenger
compartment. The hand-stitched hides are finished with a particular accent contrast stitching.

What about the interior features?
The focus is very much on the comfort of the rear passengers, and to this end Mulliner has designed a new
champagne house in the rear of the cabin, featuring a bottle cooler, illuminated chilling cabinet and two handmade
Cumbria Crystal flutes, all seamlessly integrated into the generously proportioned rear centre console.
How many will be produced?
Due to the nature of the Bentayga Mulliner, with its limitation to four-seat specification, only a strict number
of Bentayga Mulliners will be produced each year to cover demand. Although the specific number will not be
communicated.
This car is a derivative. What’s the difference between a Limited Edition by Mulliner and a derivative?
The Bentayga Mulliner is a mainstream derivative which Mulliner has helped design – it is a car which does not sit
as a Mulliner division offering.
Bentayga Mulliner is designed to strengthen the brand while giving Mulliner a presence in the Bentley portfolio, and
will be the most luxurious offering. As well as having the highest price point, they will also have a higher production
run than the Mulliner Limited Editions.
What training assets are available?
There is a new e-Learning new module which lets you explore what is possible and understand how Mulliner can
benefit you, your customers and your Retailer. It will allow you to do the following:
• Talk confidently to customers about the new Bentayga Mulliner.
• Introduce Mulliner at the most appropriate stage of the sales process.
• Suggest relevant Mulliner products to customers and inspire them.
• Use the Mulliner resources to answer customer queries.
This is a fully immersive E-Learning module that will take around 25 minutes to complete, so please dedicate
sufficient time to complete it.
If you have any questions or require system support, please click here to email the Retailer Academy.
Is the new Bentayga Mulliner live on the Car Configurator?
It is not live on the Configurator for 18MY but will be available for 19MY later. Please use the order guides and
assets, such as the images and the film, that are available to download from the Retailer Marketing News site.

PHILIP SCHOCH DETAILS ALL
INFORMATION ABOUT MULLINER’S
CREATION FOR MULSANNE

Last week we unveiled the Mulsanne Hallmark Series by Mulliner at Geneva, could you tell us more about
Mulliner’s latest creation?
Of course, this limited edition is the perfect example of Mulliner’s design expertise, crafting a model that delivers a
masterclass in luxury motoring.
There will be two options available – silver or gold – and the production run is limited to just 50 cars worldwide an
exclusive number which reflects the rarity of these precious metals. And just as precious metals are identified by
hallmarks, the new Mulsanne Hallmark Series by Mulliner bears the unmistakable signs of Mulliner craftsmanship and
authenticity.
What features distinguish this Mulsanne series from others?
As I mentioned, there are two variants, one is the silver car – which we had on display at Geneva (take a look at the
gallery above). This variant comes with the 21” Polished MDS Alloy Wheels, Hallmarked solid silver Flying ‘B’ mascot
complete with plinth engraved with ‘Commissioned by Mulliner’, the Hallmark Illuminated Treadplate and silver painted
Fine Line. The stainless steel treadplate plaques are engraved with ‘1 of 50’, a subtle but powerful reminder of the
car’s rarity.

The ‘gold variant’ enjoys the same design touches including a 23.9 carat gold plated Flying ‘B’ and gold painted fine
line.
The exterior paint can be specified as a single or optional duo tone, and customers are able to choose from both the
Bentley standard and extended exterior colour range.
Mulsanne’s interior is renowned for its luxury and comfort, what does the Hallmark Series offer?
The Hallmark’s interior is striking: a bespoke colour split has been created for this limited series and those of you
who have seen the Geneva car will have witnessed the Porpoise and Linen Hide with Silver embroidery and piping,
adding a truly exclusive touch.
This sense of ultimate luxury continues with the Mulliner Quilting to the seat centres, silver or gold metallic hide to
the Hidden Delights areas and piping. These are complemented by silver or gold Mulliner overlays to the fascia.
Quite a unique feature is the painted veneer that matches the secondary hide. Please refer to the Order & Pricing
Guide (that you can download using the below link) for available painted veneers.
And then there are the customary Mulliner touches – a silver or gold plated veneer inlay to the waist rails, Alcantara
rear cushions and optional bespoke dyed lambswool rugs.
Sounds great, how many will be available in Europe?
The Limited Edition is available globally and across the Mulsanne range, allowing customers to order it in Mulsanne,
Mulsanne Speed or Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase variants. We have managed to secure 8 cars for Europe
including Russia, and cars can be delivered in time as a Christmas gift!.

PHILIP SCHOCH, PRODUCT
MANAGER EUROPE, LOOKS AT
OUR NEWEST ARRIVAL –
BENTAYGA ONYX

What is it?
This model derivative, the Bentayga W12 Onyx Edition, has been created to broaden the appeal of the Bentayga range
and introduce a contemporary, contrast colour scheme at a lower W12 price point.
The Bentayga Onyx Edition has already been featured on the Retailer Marketing News website as it became available
for the first markets such as US, China and Russia. Now you can also order it for many other European markets!
How does it differ visually from the W12?
The Bentayga Onyx Edition has a unique, contrasting colour scheme which gives it its own character – significantly
different to that of the W12. To this end the Onyx Edition has gloss black lower bodywork with any of the standard 11
colours, and this is complemented with a gloss black number plate surround and door mirror foot.

SALES INFORMATION 2017

PS TALK Bentley Motors Europe
April 2017

What about the colour options?
The Bentayga Onyx Edition has 11 exterior colours as standard, all of which have been carefully chosen to
contrast or complement the gloss black accents.
Any other differences?
As standard, the Bentayga Onyx Edition has a non-heated front screen and non-acoustic side glass. However,
these are both available as a cost option called Glazing Specification.
Inside the cabin the Onyx is equipped with the straight fluted seat design with no diamond quilting in the
shoulder areas or seat bolsters. This reflects the design found in the Bentayga V8 Diesel.
How much cheaper will it be?
The Bentayga W12 Onyx Edition is positioned around 10% lower on average than the W12 Signature. The
recommended pre-tax Retail Price is 156.900 Euro.
V8 Diesel will obviously remain the strongest “value for money” entry position. However, if a customer wishes to
have a petrol engine and is price sensitive, then the Onyx Edition is the car for them.
In which EU countries is this car available?
The Bentayga Onyx is now available in Morocco, Ukraine, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden,
France, Monaco, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Andorra, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus,
Netherlands, Luxembourg Romania, Latvia and Belarus

PHILIP SCHOCH EXAMINES WHAT
MAKES THE MATERIALS USED ON
SUPERSPORTS SO SPECIAL

Carbon fibre can be used to make very lightweight and very strong components. This
makes it great for the aerospace industry and motorsport with whole cars. Such as
McLaren, now being made from it. Our sister company Ducati even makes whole frames
from it on bikes such as the Ducati Superleggera.

It’s a versatile material that can be tailored to whatever attributes designers are
searching for – weight, strength or just plain aesthetics– and it’s this exclusivity and
lightness which is the reason we’ve used the new chequered carbon fibre in the interior
of the new Supersports.

What is it?
Carbon fibre is produced in sheets woven from strands of fibre, using polymers such as polyacrylonite and rayon,
but can also include other materials such as Kevlar, or Diolem, for extra strength.

As it is, the sheets are flexible and weak. So they are then mixed with epoxy resin that, once hard, gives the shape
its strength.

How is it made?
All methods start with a mold of the part needed, which is polished to within an inch of its life to help the finished
part come out once it’s set. Some parts, like mudguards, often seem much cheaper than other parts made from
carbon fibre. This is because they use a layer of carbon sheet for the outer surface you see, while underneath will be
a fiberglass sheet. They are laid into the mold, with cheaper polyester resin painted on to help it cure. The part will
look great, but has none of the benefits of carbon.

Better parts will be made with just carbon and use epoxy resin. Multiple layers are used with careful consideration
going into which direction the weave is pointing, so that you can build in the strength where you need it. It’s then
placed in a vacuum bag which is attached to a pump that sucks and squeezes as much of the air out as possible,
which in turn squeezes much of the resin out of the part. This helps it to be a lighter and stronger part, but too
much of it introduces weaknesses.

The best parts are made with carbon sheets that have already been impregnated with resin, called pre-preg carbon.
This has to be kept in the freezer before use so as not to cure. Its benefits are that the resin is spread evenly
throughout the sheet, giving more uniform strength while also making the part lighter and stronger.

It’s then placed in the vacuum bag and put in an oven and heated, or an autoclave – basically an enormous oven
that can suck all the pressure out of it. Temperatures will be between 120-150 degrees celsius – this is how the
strongest, lightest parts such as wheels and frames are made.

Why is it so expensive?
Carbon fibre products tend to be expensive because it is very time-consuming and hard to make carbon
components in bulk numbers, simply because of the processes involved. It is also only strong along the weave in a
certain way, so care has to be taken to work out where the forces are going to load the part.

PHILIP SCHOCH LOOKS AT THE
INTRODUCTION OF WLTP, AND
WHAT IT MEANS TO RETAILERS

What is WLTP?
The WLTP stands for ‘Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure’, is a new emissions test system
being introduced to better reflect today’s driving conditions.
When is the WLTP valid?
The new legislation is set to be rolled out in September 2017, and this means that every new Bentley will be
homologised under the new WLTP conditions.
What is the point of this?
WLTP will replace the existing NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) process, and has been designed as a
more accurate global system for measuring CO2 emissions and fuel consumption – by simulating real driving
conditions as closely as possible, variances should be minimised, thus making the measurement process
reproducible and achieving uniform conformity.
So how has the emissions testing changed?
WLTP is a much more dynamic and accurate way of measuring emissions since it has many more acceleration
and braking cycles than its predecessor. In addition to the actual driving profile, the measurement procedure
has also been standardised globally and tailored to current automotive engineering, thus making it a more level
playing field – there are now clearly defined parameters for the temperature at which a vehicle is measured or
the definition of the correct tyre pressures.

PHILIP SCHOCH LOOKS AT THE
PLANS TO REDEVELOP OUR
FACTORY SITE IN CREWE

Q: So the plans have been given the green light. What does this mean exactly?
PS: A masterplan outlining how our factory in Crewe could look in the future has been backed by the local council.
The proposal outlines our plans to develop a platform which will allow us to create an advanced manufacturing
operation in the future. Not only will this be more efficient, it could potentially grow and expand in line with our
ambitions.
Q: What is the driving force behind the plans?
PS: It’s clear that if we continue to grow at our present rate that we will need more technical, design and engineering
floor space to ensure we remain at the cutting edge of innovation and advanced manufacturing, and we also need
more manufacturing space to increase our capacity and productivity. Of course, this also means we will require even
more office space and the associated car parking facilities. However, it’s lack of physical connectivity which separates
the activities in the factory and the new centre opposite the factory. The plans would see both sites merge, thus
improving efficiency.
Q: Surely a merging of the two site will require a radical shake-up of the current infrastructure?
PS: Yes, by closing Pyms Lane and Sunnybank Road we can increase security around the factory and our products,
improve the flow of ideas and create a true ‘campus’ environment. This isn’t as dramatic as it sounds. As anyone who
has been to our factory in Crewe will know, all the pedestrian activity down Pyms Lane is Bentley workers moving
from one part of the site to another. In fact the new plans could have a positive flow on the surrounding area – an
important aspect of the plan is the aspiration for a rail head and freight connection that would link the factory to the
UK’s rail network

SALES INFORMATION 2017

PS TALK Bentley Motors Europe
May 2017

Q: So what exactly is the vision?
PS: Our vision is to create a modern and efficient campus incorporating manufacturing, design, engineering and
administrative functions into a single estate which is easily identifiable as Bentley and will represent their brand and
their aspirations. This £40m phased expansion will see the development of a new Engineering Technical Centre,
Design Building and Business Building adjacent to our manufacturing operation.
This ‘campus’ will create hubs of activity and knowledge sharing within the site helping to develop a dynamic and
innovative community within the Bentley business.

Q: How will the vision look?
PS: The vision has already begun to be realised, and actually began with the building of our flagship showroom,
CW1 House. The construction of the new Business Building and the planning application for a new engineering
technical centre, design centre and engineering workshop will showcase the new outward looking, progressive face
of Bentley.

Q: And how will these changes affect the factory itself?
PS: As you are aware, the factory is already starting to go through significant changes as part of concerted efforts
to create a more efficient, structured manufacturing process. The new paint shop amendments are the first steps
in a detailed and complex series of changes that will be implemented over the coming years and integrate with the
whole Bentley site.

Q: And how will the new development look?
PS: Our aim is to use this development as a beacon to showcase a more contemporary look and feel for our brand.
Using a more contemporary façade will assist us in generating a younger customer profile and this goes hand-in-
hand with creating a facility which will draw in the best design and engineering talent in the industry to complement
the existing local specialisms.

You will all be familiar with the bland industrial and brick buildings which surround the listed Art Deco style
building which houses the main visitor’s reception. The new buildings will give us the opportunity to create the
scale and character of the Bentley site rather than echo the loose historic context of the site – CW1 House, and
its contemporary glass structure complete with clean lines and an engineered aesthetic is the first step in our
ambitions.

The buildings forming the engineering technical and design centre will follow the example of CW1 House and
will also feature large areas of glass clean lines and with additional large scale regular white cladding details. The
Business Building also follows a similar style with the white and grey colouring of the engineering technical centre
and a simple shape While future buildings are likely to follow this style it is noted that a building style is not
necessary or even ideal for creating a single site, and to this end non- manufacturing buildings may differ in design.

Q: Sounds impressive. So, what will visitors and VIPs notice when they visit the factory?
PS: The arrival experience continues to be extremely important to Bentley and this will be enhanced even further
with the new development. This is likely to be created at the west end of Pyms Lane, and may take the form of
a sculpture, bridge or a new island on the junction of the Pyms Lane and the A530. As well as providing a clear
gateway in to the site, it will also allow us to deliver an iconic piece of art or structure that will convey confidence in
the brand.

Q: What about the rest of the land?
PS: The site to the north of the proposed engineering technical centre, development is planned for additional
Bentley fleet car parking. Currently, cars are stored around the site anywhere there is a space, and during the
remodelling of the manufacturing facilities, these spaces will become fewer. This, combined with the increase in
production, means there is a critical requirement for additional space to store cars safely and securely on site.
There is also an opportunity to expand to the north and east of the site (north of Pyms Lane), where the
CHK Holdings and waste facility are currently located. This would be perfect for our engineering, design
and manufacturing operations into the future, and would also contribute to a more integrated, secure and
comprehensive campus environment.

What is the inspiration behind the car?
Inspired by the extraordinary detail, clean and sleek lines associated with luxury yachts, the Galene edition, named
after the Greek Goddess of calm seas, features several yachting elements among its key design notes.
How has this vision become reality?
As with previous bespoke requests, Mulliner has consulted experts in their field to gain design and product
inspiration. Born from an initiative out of the European region, Mulliner contacted Princess Yachts, a British luxury
yacht designer and manufacturer, . and its Mulliner Design Team worked closely with the Princess Yachts Team to
create the Galene Edition, a Continental GT V8 Convertible which takes its design cues from the clean lines and
materials of luxury yachts.
Tell us about the car’s exterior?
The car’s exterior is Glacier White, like a hull of a superyacht, and sports a glacier white body kit, with a sequin blue
lower brightware ‘waterline’ and dark blue hood. All of these details have been specifically chosen to mirror the
exterior of a modern motor-boat.
And the interior?
The nautical theme continues inside, and the interior is lined with Brunel and Linen hide with Portland and Camel

PHILIP SCHOCH LOOKS AT THE
NEW CONTINENTAL GT’S EXTERIOR
AND INTERIOR DESIGN FEATURES

The next chapter in the Bentley story launched this week to universal acclaim, thrilling automotive enthusiasts and
critics alike. Months of pre-embargo activity have ended and the new Continental GT has arrived, and with it, the
future of Bentley.
The new Continental GT marks the beginning of a new era: one of unrivalled power, breathtaking design and innovative
technology.
Q: What are the key features of the exterior?
PS: The muscular, athletic exterior design has been created using revolutionary technology, creating a lightweight, yet
stiff, body. The Power Line and Haunch are a key feature of the design, and while the key signature lines of the original
Continental still define the side profile of the car, the use of groundbreaking Superforming technology has allowed us
to make them sharper than ever.
The ‘Power Line’ now emerges from between the headlamps and spears along through the door where it fades out
before the muscular rear ‘haunch’ over the rear wheel – these key lines are an evolution of Bentley’s unmistakeable
‘powerline’ design.

September 2017

Q: The car appears lower and longer. How has this been achieved?
PS: The all-new platform on which the car is based gave the designers the complete freedom to dictate the
proportions Bentley wanted. This is a crucial aspect of the car’s distinctive, sleek aesthetic – the position of
the front wheel towards the front of the car has allowed for a longer bonnet, and it’s this which gives the New
Continental GT longer, leaner and sportier lines.

Q: The new lights certainly catch the eye. Can you tell us more about their design?
PS: The lights use the latest Matrix LED technology, but this is only half of the story. The lamps themselves are
a completely new concept – inspired by cut crystal glass, all of the internal surfaces are transparent and feature
sharply-defined faceted edges that catch the light like a diamond. These transparent surfaces also allow light to
flood through them, and this creates the unique effect of an illuminated gem.

Q: What are the key features of the interior?
PS: The interior is a real tour de force and is just as striking as the sleek exterior.

The new Continental GT’s cabin features a dramatic new take on the Bentley wings – the design cue which inspires
the inside of every car from Crewe. The wings on the new GT start on the console and flow around the cabin into
the doors to create the cockpit, effectively marking out zones the occupants sit in.

Q: What about the toproll?
PS: The new Continental GT also has another first for Bentley – the single piece toproll – which is created using
one perfect piece of handpicked leather. It is completely devoid of any air vents or speakers, and is a powerful
demonstration of the meticulous attention to detail and uncompromising craftsmanship which goes into the car.

Q: How many veneers are available?
PS: There are eight single veneers available, including a new finish exclusive for New Continental GT – Koa our new,
mid-tone, straight-grained veneer. Koa is a wood species used in its native Hawaii in the creation of handmade
surfboards and guitars. A number of these veneers can be combined to alter the aesthetics of the cabin; the new
dual veneer option allows the creation of a completely unique environment. These effects can then be fine-tuned
with the colour, trim and technical finishes.

Q: New Continental GT boasts a new technical finish. What is it? And what is it inspired by?
PS: Côtes de Genève is a new finish for Bentley, and is inspired by the luxurious finish used in watch making. It is a
milled aluminium finish, which glimmers and shines producing extraordinary patterns when the light catches it.

Q: What about the switchgear?
PS: All the switchgear has been designed in-house exclusively for this car and makes extensive use of diamond
knurling.

Q: What are the comfort features?
PS: The car will be offered with two types of seats – Standard, with 12-way multi-adjustment, lumber support and
heating, and new 20-way seats, which include additional adjustment of the headrest, cushion and seat bolsters,
along with massage and ventilation functionality, setting new industry standards in comfort and refinement.

Q: The engine is a reworked version of Bentayga’s W12. Can you explain the
differences?PS: The New Continental GT uses enhanced 12-cylinder TSI technology to
set a new benchmark for improved drivability and fuel economy.

The engine is a heavily reworked version of the Bentayga’s powerplant and features
significant changes including direct and port fuel injection, intake and exhaust valve
timing, and dual-scroll turbochargers. It’s the variable valve technology which catches the
eye – the passenger-side bank of six cylinders shuts down when the car isn’t accelerating
to improve economy. Impressive.

Q: The car features a new gearbox. Can you describe why this matters?
PS: The New Continental GT has an 8-speed ZF dual-clutch transmission – the first time such a system has
been used on a Bentley, with retuned controller software delivering both a sporty character and the appropriate
refinement for a Bentley.

Designed for smooth acceleration, quick gearshifts and improved fuel economy, maximum speed of 333 km/h will
be reached in sixth gear already, with the overdrive gears (seventh and eighth) used solely for economic cruising.

Q: And how does the Active All-Wheel-Drive affect the car’s handling?
PS: The Active All-Wheel-Drive System does away with our traditional fixed/permanent drive system of a 60:40
split rear : front and replaces it with a clutched system which delivers (in normal driving conditions) two-wheel
drive to the rear axle. Then, depending on the road conditions and wheel slip, it will send drive to the front axle as
required, providing active all-wheel drive.

A key thing here is that the new all-wheel-drive system operates in 100 percent rear-drive mode by default and only
shifts torque to the front wheels when it detects slip at the rear.
The benefits to this are twofold – it delivers an improved driving experience while simultaneously reducing the
understeer effect experienced with fixed all-wheel drive. This, together with the improved handling balance, serves
to deliver an unparalleled experience across all driving conditions, thus creating a more engaging, and more involving
drive.

Q: New Continental GT also features new suspension. What are the benefits?
PS: A major technological innovation is that the air suspension on the New Continental GT uses three-chamber air
springs. These contain 60% more air volume compared to the previous model, and this increase allows for greater
electronic control of the suspension, thus improving the ride comfort and dynamic behaviour of the car.

Q: What else is new?
PS: The new car also features CDC (Continuous Damping Control), which allows continuous regulation of the
dampers in air suspension systems. Four ride height sensors constantly measure the distance between the axle and
the body, and if the system detects a difference compared with the normal height, for example if you drive over a
bump or a (pot)hole the air volume in the springs is corrected accordingly, ensuring the car does not “ditch” into the
hole.

Like many of you I am waiting to experience the car on the road, it must be absolutely phenomenal!

PHILIP SCHOCH LOOKS AT THE
CARS ON DISPLAY ON THE
BENTLEY STAND AT THE IAA

The Frankfurt Motor Show is one of the world’s biggest and most important automotive
shows and this year it took on added importance as it was also the venue for the global
public reveal of our New Continental GT.

However, there was far more to our presence than our new addition, and as well as the
two New Continental GTs on display, we also used the high-profile occasion to showcase
other exciting new additions to our product range.

MULSANNE SPEED DESIGN SERIES BY MULLINER
The Mulsanne Speed, exquisitely finished in Kingfisher with a Beluga hide interior, generated a lot of interest, with
many showgoers praising its striking carbon fibre veneer.

Inspired by the latest trends in high-end fashion, the car’s moody aesthetics combine to create a very ‘urban’ theme,
one designed to appeal to a younger and more dynamic audience.

The highlight of the car is undoubtedly the Tessellated Coloured Carbon Fibre – a flamboyant geometric pattern,
created by the Mulliner Design Team which is incredibly intricate and features an accent colour built into the weave.
Available in a choice of three accents – Kingfisher, Bronze or Silver – this reinforces Mulliner’s position of being at
the very forefront of bespoking.

Other standout details include gloss black lower brightware, window surrounds, side vents, rear tailgate strip, grille
vanes and bezel. There is also a dark tint finish to the Flying ‘B’ mascot, the matrix grille and headlamp washer
cap. This sportiness is reinforced with the 21” 5 Spoke Directional Speed Wheel painted Gloss Black with Diamond
Turned Machined Front Face.

All these elements combine to create a car which feels lower, wider and edgier while simultaneously emphasising
Mulsanne’s bold and powerful lines.

BENTAYGA W12
The Bentayga W12 in Hallmark and Beluga hide also earned glowing plaudits, with many impressed by its unique
blend of luxury, performance and off-road ability.

FLYING SPUR
Flying Spur continues to appeal to those seeking real-world four-door practicality, and the showcar, designed to
demonstrate how the car can be personalised to make it more individual to the owner, featured a unique Light
Windsor Blue over Windsor Blue Duo Tone paint, Portland hide and white veneer.

PHILIP SCHOCH TAKES A CLOSER
LOOK AT THE NEW MULSANNE
DESIGN SERIES BY MULLINER

What has inspired the Mulsanne Design Series by Mulliner? And when is it available?
PS: From October, customers will be able to order the Mulsanne Design Series by
Mulliner for the Mulsanne and Mulsanne Speed models. Inspired by the world of high-
end fashion and contemporary interior design trends, our designers have created this
Limited Edition to celebrate these themes through darkly striking exterior design
elements interwoven with eye-catching coloured accents throughout the cabin interior.
Just 50 cars in total will be enhanced by the Mulsanne Design Series by Mulliner, and the
incremental price per car is €29.415 Euro pre-tax (recommended retail price).

How will the package enhance the exterior of the Mulsanne and Mulsanne Speed?
PS: The series includes gloss black lower brightware, a gloss black Mulsanne vertical vane grille and bumper grille,
and gloss black detailing on window surround, side vent and rear tailgate strip. These elements are perfectly
complemented by dark tint headlamps, the iconic dark tint Flying ‘B’ mascot and 21” 5-Spoke Directional Speed
wheels in gloss black with a diamond-turned and machined front face.

And the interior?
PS: Three striking accent colours have been selected specifically for their style: a lustrous Bronze, a stand-out Silver
and a striking Kingfisher Blue. The customer’s chosen accent colour will run elegantly through the interior, and hand
cross-stitching can be applied throughout the cabin, including the instrument panel, console, gear knob, quilted seat
surfaces and door panels. A final flourish for the colour-accented interior comes with elegantly embroidered Mulliner
logos on the headrests. Our Mulliner Design Team has also created a unique Tessellated Coloured Carbon Fibre,
which allows for the choice of accent colour to be built into the weave itself, adding an evocative spark of colour
across all four cabin waistrails.

Can the Design Series be applied to the Mulsanne EWB?
PS: We believe that the Design Series is best suited to the Signature Mulsanne and Mulsanne Speed and, therefore,
we are holding back order opening for the Mulsanne Design Series on EWB.

However, as we have communicated that the Mulsanne Design Series is applicable on EWB in the press release,
we will consider requests for EWB in October which will give us enough information to decide if we go ahead
with developing the Design Series content for EWB as well. Your requests will have to be received prior to the 15
October, with a decision being communicated the following week.

What has been the reaction to the Design Series?
PS: As part of our 2018 programme, we unveiled the Mulsanne Design Series by Mulliner at Frankfurt show and
received some fantastic feedback from customers and retailers. The first of these cars will finish production in the
first few weeks of 2018, and I am looking forward to seeing these very special cars!

WHAT RETAILERS NEED TO DO TO
BE PHEV READY

Q: What is PHEV?
PS: PHEV is a hybrid electric vehicle that uses rechargeable batteries, or another energy
storage device, that can be recharged by plugging it into an external source of electric
power.

Q: And why is PHEV so important/attractive to customers?
PS: PHEV vehicles have an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. This means
they produce less air pollution and require less petrol.
The advantage of PHEV is that they offer the best of both worlds. The everyday running
cost of the car is less, but it still has a petrol engine, one which is capable of working as a backup when the
batteries are depleted. This means that PHEV vehicles have a driving-range comparable to that of solely petrol and
diesel-powered cars. Other advantages include the convenience of home charging and tax benefits.

Q: So, when is Bentley going to introduce PHEV to its range?
PS: We are working hard at introducing this technology to our line-up. We will be making an announcement about
the first Bentley PHEV in 2018. Watch this space…

Q: The arrival of PHEV will have huge implications on the Retailer network. What does this mean for
showrooms?
PS: The showrooms will not appear any different than they do today, but there will be subtle changes. A Wall Box
needs to be displayed within the showroom, and where possible this should be placed alongside a display space so it
can be shown to customers alongside a Hybrid vehicle.

Q: What does PHEV mean for Aftersales?
PS: The coming months are crucial for Retailers to familiarise themselves with the specific PHEV tooling as
the associated equipment will start to be rolled out in workshops across our network. Your Area Aftersales
Manager will already have been in contact with you on this. As well as ensuring workshop facilities meet the Retail
network standards, Retailers need to ensure that their workstation for battery repairs comply with the local legal
requirements.

The battery handling concept is a major undertaking for Bentley Motors, and will require that all staff are familiar
with the strict protocols which govern how they can be handled. Lithium-ion high-voltage batteries which are
classified as critical should generally only be handled in coordination with the OEM, and this means that when
we’re transporting them to the network certified transport boxes must be used and the corresponding transport
specification has to be followed.

Technicians who will be carrying out remedial maintenance on e-vehicles and repairs to high-voltage systems and
batteries will receive training via Bentley Academy Training programme, and service and workshop staff in the
individual markets must also be trained.

Q: What do retailers need to know or do?
PS: PHEV is important to our brand strategy in responding to innovation and responsibility, and is part of our
global country-by-country plan to make us sustainable for the future.
Within our Project house organisation, we have created a structure around the Franchise Development Manager
and the regional PHEV Champion. Retailers need to align with both parties on a regular basis in order to ensure
that every market and every business is ready to profit from the success story of our first hybrid.
