Our vision since inception has been to be a“Premier Golf Club with the best amenities in Central Florida.” This plan will accomplish ourvision.I call it the magic carpet ride, but you will soon see that it is much more than that. Ourcommittee programs have worked closely with data that allows us to evaluate opportunities thatwill enhance the membership experience, as well as secure the financial future of the club, whileaddressing membership needs in a way that makes everyone comfortable with our progress. You should have received the schedule for our informational meetings; our goal is to help youbecome an educated consumer (member). We will continue to be transparent as we look foryour support in our master plan. The five-year anniversary celebration has been delayed due to weather and is now scheduled forMonday, February 16. I hope you will join us; it will be an amazing night. This will beimmediately following our final webinar about our master plan, focusing on the financialimplications of the plan. This should make you very happy because our ask is minimal forongoing capital contributions to help fund our future.VBITOWhat can I say that you don’t already know? Over 250 member volunteers. VBITO has become such an amazing event that recognizes championship tennis andchampionship teamwork by our team, our membership, volunteers, and our sponsors. Special thanks to our Tournament Director, MarcoOsorio, and his team for another job well done. This year, we made it even more special by honoring Hall of Fame tennis professional IvanLendl. Many members remember when Ivan lived and raised his family at Grand Harbor. Inthe early years here, he made a major impact on our tennis program. Ivan won eight majors, including the Australian Open twice, the French Open three times, and the US Open threetimes. He was the number-one ranked tennis professional in the world for 270 weeks. We aregrateful for his continued impact on all racquet sports at Grand Harbor and have dedicated thestadium court in his honor. Our stadium court will now be the Ivan Lendl Stadium Court atGrand Harbor. The fantastic growth and success of Grand Harbor can be attributed to the leadership of ourBoard of Governors and the standing committees that work diligently with our managementteam to make living grand a reality every day. It has never been better, and our commitment toenhancing the membership experience has never been stronger. Personally, I would like to thankoutgoing Board Members Joe Pojanowski and Roger Andrus for their unwavering efforts inhelping us grow and stabilize our club. Match Play Tournaments held at the Club start this month and here are a couple of remindersthat are important when you are playing a Match:Winning the Match: A match is won when a side is up by more holes than remaining to beplayed (e.g., 3&2).Concessions: A stroke, hole, or entire match can be conceded at any time, and this is final. Aconceded putt must be accepted.Order of Play: The ball farthest from the hole plays first. Playing out of turn carries nopenalty, but the opponent may immediately require the stroke to be replayed.Scoring: Score is kept by holes won/lost (e.g., \"1-up\" or \"halved\"), not total strokes. Makesure that you post your score even when you play a match.Wrong Ball/Rules Breach: Playing a wrong ball results in loss of hole. The general penaltyfor breaking most rules is loss of hole, not 2 strokes.Halved Hole: If both players complete a hole in the same number of strokes, the hole is\"halved\".No Obligation to Hole Out: If your opponent concedes your next stroke, you do not need tofinish.Disagreements: If a dispute occurs, you must notify your opponent before teeing off on thenext hole.Matches often use 100% of the difference in course handicaps to determine strokes and youshould still try to post your score, even when you are playing a Match. Most of the Match Play scorecards are available for pickup in the Golf Shop prior to yourmatch. Please make sure that you still maintain an appropriate Pace of Play while competing inyour match and best of luck out there on the course!GOLFRULES OF GOLF EXPLAINED

The coldest temperatures since 2010 are upon us. Heavy frost drastically stunts the growth ofbermudagrass hence, slowing down its ability to recover. Traffic on frosty grounds can damagethe grass. That is why it is critical, during the colder months, we do everything we can not tocause more stress to the playing surfaces. Ball mark repair, proper divot filling, not driving overthe “beaten path” and ensuring when on the cart path all four tires are on the concrete will go along way to ensuring our golf courses hold up during the busiest time of the year.COURSE UPDATESCOURSE UPDATESJosh Breda, Director of Agronomy

Florida serves as a vital habitat for Monarch butterflies, renowned for their striking orange andblack wings. Each autumn, Monarchs migrate thousands of miles from the northern UnitedStates and Canada to central Mexico, with Florida providing essential resources for theirjourney. Florida’s diverse environments—including coastal dunes, wetlands, pine flatwoods, and gardens—provide abundant nectar from native wildflowers such as milkweed, lantana, andgoldenrod, which are essential for supporting Monarch butterflies.Monarchs are important pollinators and contribute to Florida’s biodiversity. Their distinctivecoloration signals toxicity acquired from milkweed, the exclusive host plant for their larvae.Florida’s climate enables a year-round breeding population, unlike northern regions whereMonarchs are strictly migratory. Monarchs lay eggs on approximately 20 native milkweedspecies, which are crucial for healthy larval development.HABITS, BREEDING, AND MIGRATIONSubmitted by: J.
