Educate Yourself On A Safe Bonfire Night

REMEMBER REMEMBER THE 5TH OF NOVEMBER…

Have a great bonfire night with friends and family but do remember to be safe

Bonfire Night can be one of the most exiting nights of the year especially for
children, however it is important to remember the basic safety guidelines to
make sure everyone has a good time.
Build your bonfire away from any structures and make sure the size is
appropriate for the space you have so that you are able to keep control of it.
Always check your bonfire before lighting for any wildlife that maybe in the
pile. Don’t use petrol or any sort of lighter fluid. Only burn appropriate
materials, as trying to burn objects such as batteries, aerosols etc can cause
toxic fumes and are at risk of exploding.Always have plenty of water on hand
and thoroughly put your fire out at the end of your night.
Keep your fireworks in a metal tin away from the kids, make sure spectators
and pets are kept well away from the fire and fireworks. If your children want
to enjoy sparklers, make sure that they are wearing gloves and that you
always supervise them. Only light one firework or one sparkler at a time.
Ensure that the fireworks and sparklers that you do use are suitable for home
use and are suitable to the size of your garden, you should always look for the
British Standard number (BS7114) on any of them that you purchase.
