2 The Property Scene: 01253 392 064 July 6th 2023 Say you’ve seen it in The Property Scene Harry Sutcliffe one of the best known names in the estate agency business, has passed away peacefully at home after a long illness patiently borne. Harry was sand grown and in his youth a well known amateur footballer together with his brother David playing for various local clubs plus trials for Aston Villa (in the 50s) Harry started his life as an estate agent with Oyston estate agents, managing the most prolific estate agency in the country for 22 years. During this time he trained many other young men who became estate agents in their own name and he was always prepared to help his competitors (because he treated everybody as a friend and they were). Harry eventually open his own office in 1992 and retired in 2007. Having completed 40 years as an estate agent. It was not usual for previous clients to stop him in the street and ask him to look for a suitable property for their children. Harry was so respected by his competitors (friends) that when the Evening Gazette held their 'annual alternative estate agency awards' Harry was the first to be voted the most popular estate agent by the other agents 100% He was always ready to help everybody and was an active member of Blackpool Sportsman's Aid Unfortunately he leaves behind his two children:-Darren and Lisa, his wife Christine (who was also his partner in business), step daughter Julie, grandson Wyatt and great granddaughter Katherine. It was often said that Harry should have written a book of his time as an estate agent. He would hold 'fort' telling his funny tales on valuing or auctioning various properties on the Fylde Coast and in 1992 he estimated that he had valued at least 20,000 properties, he stopped counting. Christine Sutcliffe would like this opportunity to thank all the estate agents and previous clients for their kind words of condolences in the recent loss of her husband, the well-known estate agent and auctioneer Harry Sutcliffe. Harry was a legend in his profession and will be sadly missed by many.
