Improvement of
Teaching & Learning

IMPROVEMENT NO 1

Flipped
Classroom

The first improvement that I would like to share
here is with regard to my flipped classroom. I
started to flip my class in 2018, 2 years after
joining UKM. There were a lot of problems at the
initial stage. However, after some improvements,
the class runs smoothly

When I first started my flipped classrooms, the
students will watch the lectures in the Tatacara
Sivil 1 MOOC at home or hostel before they come
to class. When they come to the faculty for the 2-

hour lecture, I will conduct active learning
activities to enhance students’ understanding of

the topic.

To ensure the effectiveness of my flipped
classroom, I distribute a questionnaire to the
students via Google Form. The anonymity of the

students and their answers is guaranteed.

using SPSS.
Improvements are made
based on the findings and
analysis.

formative assessment will be

conducted to gauge
students’ understanding and
to pinpoint any area or issue
that the students are facing
difficulties. After determining

that, in dealing with the
student’s weaknesses, I will

either give further
explanation or do some
simple activities on the area
determined. Then, I will
conduct the class with active
learning activities to enhance
the overall understanding of

the whole topic.

IMPROVEMENT NO 2

Game-Based
Learning

The second improvement that I would like to share
here is on Game-Based Learning (GBL). I use
gamification and GBL in class to make the lesson
more engaging and interesting. I like to design and
develop educational games so that the students
could enjoy the class. There are a number of issues,
thus the need for improvement.

I use Game-Based Learning (GBL) as one of
active learning activities in class. The main

reason for using GBL is to ensure active
engagement and participation from students.

To ensure the effectiveness of GBL, I conducted
a survey via Google Form. The anonymity of the

students and their answers is guaranteed.

Based on the analysis, few
improvements have been made
to ensure the effectiveness of
GBL - (a) the educational game
must be developed to achieve

the Learning Outcomes (LO)
intended; (b) the educational

game should not be too
complicated because students
do not want to concern with the
know-how of the game; (c) do
formative assessment after a GBL
session to cover any area that

they weak.

IMPROVEMENT NO 3

Collaborative
Learning

The third improvement that I would like to share
here is with regard to student's collaborative
learning environment. When I implemented
Experiential Learning, students will form a law firm
and work together for one whole semester in
completing various tasks assigned to them.

Each Law Firm, comprising of 5-6 students must
work together to complete the task assigned to
them. Most of the time, there would be multiple

tasks at the same time.

To ensure the effectiveness of a collaborative
learning environment, I conduct a survey via
Google Form. The survey was done due to some
complaints raised by students with regards to
their teammates. The anonymity of the students

and their answers is guaranteed.

made - (a) to convene firm’s
meeting from time to time with all
members present to check on
their development and situation;
(b) to establish a committee, i.e.
‘Jawatankuasa Firma’ that will
oversee all firms and try to solve

any problems raised by any
students against their teammates
or other firms. The committee will
report any matter or incident that
needs the attention of the lecturer
as early as possible to avoid the

matter from becoming more
serious
