CHIANG MAI UNIVERSITY

WHAT IS

CMU-IMC ?

CMU-IMC stands for ‘Chiang Mai University International Medical

Challenge’. It is an annual international academic competition held by the
Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University. The competitors are medical
students from various countries around the world. CMU-IMC was held for the
first time in 2014 as one of the celebrations to mark the 55th Anniversary
of the Faculty of Medicine. Following the success of CMU-IMC in 2014, it was
decided that the faculty would hold the event annually. Since then, medical
students from all around the world have gathered to compete, to learn, and
to share their ideas with each other in our competition.

This year will be the first time for CMU-IMC to hold the competition
via an online platform, which is more accessible than before. It consists
of various academic and non-academic activities with the opportunity
to receive many prizes and souvenirs. Our main goals are to emphasize
the importance of basic medical science as a foundation for clinical
applications and to provide participants a positive learning environment.

Welcome Speech

from Associate Dean
of Faculty of Medicine

As an associate dean of the Faculty of Medicine,
Chiang Mai University, I am delighted to
welcome all of you to the 2022 Chiang Mai
University International Medical Challenge.
I am very pleased to know that all participants,
as well as instructors from universities in
both Thailand and other regions of Asia,
are interested in being a part of our challenge.
We are now ready to fill the upcoming days with
knowledge and joy.

All questions used in this competition have been
created by our staff. They have worked very hard
on every question so that participants will be able
to demonstrate their full abilities in the field of
biochemistry and molecular biology.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the
first time that our contest will be held online. With
the cooperation of our medical students and
information technology team, we assure you that
the CMU-IMC challenge will be a joyful experience
for all competitors.

May you all have an enjoyable time. Good luck
with the competition!

Associate Professor Prapaporn Suprasert,
M.D. (Associate Dean of Academic Affairs of
Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University)

(Thanapat Charumporn)
The president of CMU-IMC 2022

Welcome Speech

from President of CMU-IMC 2022

Dear all CMU-IMC competitors, advisors, and observers.
My name is Thanapat Charumporn. As the president of the competition,
it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Chiang Mai University International
Medical Competition (CMU-IMC).
This year, CMU-IMC will be held as the 7th occasion of our competition on
the topic of “Basic to Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology”.
Biochemistry and molecular biology are basic requirements to understand
the entire body’s systems of processing and manipulation. Due to the
advancements in molecular biology, the clinical paradigm has shifted over
the decades with an improvement in the clinical outcomes.
Our 2020 CMU-IMC was canceled due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But this year, as a result of the willingness of our staff to take on this great
opportunity, the competition will be held as an online event. Our teams
have been working hard throughout the year to ensure that the attraction
and the experience of the event will not be diminished.
As aforementioned, I hope that we will succeed in delivering a great
experience to all competitors. The enjoyable moments, new friendships, thrills
and challenges are offered to you as our honorable guests.
