Dear Collector Anton Welz

The second half of 2018 was the start of our online auction Division Head & Auctioneer
service. We have now completed stamps, art and books,
cars and motorcycles as well as jewellery in an online 5
format and the system is working well for bidders and
sellers alike. It is a format we will be actively pursuing
during 2019, so please watch our website and check your
email for news of the upcoming online auctions.

Our first live auction for 2019 brings together another
collection of interesting and quality items throughout all
categories. Perhaps the highlight of this sale is the library
of the late Frikkie Botha. As a diplomat and book collector,
he collected a library that displays a passion for Southern
Africa and he never ceased to hunt for interesting books
wherever he found himself. It is a privilege for us to be able
to bring the library to auction and we are most grateful to
his family for consigning with us.

There are a number of highlights throughout the other
departments. Decorative arts has a Mintons pâte-sur-
pâte twin handled vase, a Lorenzl bronze figure, a French
gilt-bronze jardinière and a Wedgewood basalt Sacred to
Neptune water ewer all of which are expected to attract
international attention.

The art department have consigned a number of works
which will appeal to collectors. An unusual Pierneef of
Vasco da Gama rounding Cape Point, a large Alexis Preller,
a Battiss oil and a number of international works are sure
to excite art collectors.

Furniture includes a number of Scandinavian items, the
highlight of which is a wonderful rosewood sideboard
designed by Arne Vodder. Watches as well as jewellery
have a number of lots which are sure to dazzle.

All that remains is for me to welcome you to our summer
sale, we have really tried to provide something for
everyone in this catalogue.

See you in the saleroom.
