Ticket Without
a Seat
BY: AMIRUL HAKIM & AMIR KASTURI
“Sir, please sit down,” Miss Yana
offered her seat as she felt sorry for the
old man. Miss Yana told him that she was
young and strong enough to stand. The
old man thanked Miss Yana for her
kindness and asked her how long it
would take to arrive at her destination.
Miss Yana replied that she needed
another five hours to arrive.
It happened last Saturday when Miss
Yana wanted to visit her old village. After
a few hours, the train conductor came to
check the passengers’ tickets. When the
conductor checked the old man’s and
Miss Yana’s tickets, he realized that the
old man sat on Miss Yana’s seat. The
conductor felt very happy with her
kindness.
Then, the conductor offered Miss Yana
an empty seat at the front of the train.
When Miss Yana made her way to the
front carriage, all the passengers were
shocked to see that she was using a pair
of crutches to walk. The moral of this story
is we need to respect the older folks and
handicapped people.

“MOM?”
BY: HANA SYAFIQAH
"Happy Birthday, Hana!” my friends
shouted. That was all it took to ruin my
whole day. It was the 8th of March, the
darkest day of my life. “Your mother and I
need to go to Beijing for two weeks, so
you’ll be staying with Grandma,” my father
said.
I just nodded and continued reading my
Harry Potter book. “OK Hana, we're boarding
the plane now, happy 11th birthday again, dear.
I promise we’ll go celebrate once we get back.
Love you!”. I thanked my mom and wished
them a safe flight.
“Hey!” I yelled as my favourite TV show was
interrupted. “MH370 heading to Beijing went
missing this morning”. The reporter continued
but her voice quickly faded away. My heart,
brain, and body froze in total shock. I turned
to my grandma next to me and in a heartbeat,
both of us cried our eyes out.
All boarding MH370 were declared dead a year
later but I just could not accept it. I was absolutely
sure that my parents are still alive! I went into severe
depression and had to be homeschooled. Tragedy
kept happening as my beloved grandma
succumbed to cancer not long after that. It was then
decided that boarding school would be best for me.
I was completely clueless and had a hard time
making friends. I spent my miserable life getting
bullied at the school. As I was making my way to
the water tower with my suicide note, I heard my
teacher calling me to his office. He wanted me to
join the English Club. I simply said yes so that I
can quickly leave. “Great! See you at four.”
At the club’s first meeting and the weekly
ones that followed, I fell in love again with
literature. I ended up joining the debate team. I
realised that after everything I have gone
through, debating actually saved my life. I found
a purpose in life and made many friends.
After training diligently, I felt confident to
win the International Debate Tournament. To
my astonishment, we won all the matches and
got to the final. I also emerged as the best
debater and was interviewed for the national
news.
Now, as I am about to give my opening
speech in front of the huge audience, suddenly
a woman in the third row stood up crying. I
looked at her and muttered, "MOM?"
THE LITTLE SECRET

CLASS: 1 AMANAH
"Shut up!", Milly screamed as loudly as she could.
Everyone was shocked. They never heard her scream
that loudly before. Milly was known as the happiest
person in school. She never really got mad easily as she
was always happy. She liked to cheer her friends up.
But one fine day, Milly seemed a bit strange. Her
friends felt very curious as she didn't even talk to them
like other days. They tried to communicate with her but
she didn't respond to anything. Her best friend,
Katherine, made a joke but she seemed to ignore it.
As they started their learning, the teacher taught
them about mental health. Their teacher told them
about the symptoms of depression. Katherine
realised that Milly had most of the symptoms
including anger. She went to the counselor’s office as
fast as lightning to tell the counselor what happened.
As a friend, Katherine was very concerned about
Milly's condition.
The counselor, Mr Henry, asked Milly to come to
the office so that they could talk about her condition.
At first, she refused to go there as she was very
scared. But all of her friends convinced her that she
should meet Mr Henry. Milly bravely went to the office
by herself.
Milly told him that she suffered from
depression. Both of her parents already knew
about it but none of her friends or teachers did
except Mr Henry. The school counselor asked
her why she was depressed. But Milly didn't say
a single word. After a while, she went back to
the class and just sat alone at her table.
"Are you okay?", said Katherine. Milly nodded
down. Her friend knew that she was lying. Katherine
grabbed her hand and asked her to come to the hall.
As they walked to the school hall, someone said
"Happy Mental Health Day" to her. She felt very weird
and curious at the same time.
Finally, both of them arrived in front of the huge
hall. Her friends surprised her when they entered the
building. Milly was very happy as she didn't know that
her school organized a party to cheer her up. She felt
very overwhelmed. Her friends hugged her without
hesitation.
Mental Health day is for education and awareness
to the public about the thought of suicide or self-harm.
10 October is the World Mental Health Day. We can go
through this battle together.

Crime in the Air
By: Ahmad Redza Iezlan bin Ahmad Faidzal
It was the summer of 2021. Henry’s family
decided to take a vacation to the Bahamas, as harsh
Standard Operating Procedures had been lifted.
The family couldn’t wait to adventure for the first
time in years. The family had planned this trip ever
since it was announced the Movement Control
Order would be a thing of the past.
Henry was standing at the gate with his ticket
in hand. He noticed several African men standing
behind him wearing white face masks and tinted
glasses. This confused Henry as facemasks were no
longer required in public areas. He shrugged it off.
“Maybe they're sick”, he thought.
The family boarded the plane and settled into
their seats as it was going to be a 13-hour flight to
the island.
Half way into the flight, the intimidating men stood up
and went to the cockpit. All of the sudden, Henry heard shrills
and screams. A dark realisation came over him. This was a
terrorist hijacking! During the madness, a voice came over the
PA. “Listen up! We’re taking this aircraft to India. Nobody try
anything funny”.
In the cockpit, the terrorists barked orders at the pilots.
They planned to land in India and demand a ransom to be paid.
Silence filled the plane. 3 terrorists members guarded
the fuselage to make sure no one was up to anything.
Henry had feared for the worst. He prayed and prayed,
hoping for a miracle. At last, his prayers were answered. He
looked out his window and saw fighter jets escorting the
aeroplane. They burst the doors open and ordered
everyone to zipline to another cargo jet. The terrorist
group attempted to follow, but accidentally fell 30,000 feet
to their deaths.
Henry’s family was quite rattled after the
incident. After landing safely in India, they
found out that the pilot was able to send a
distress signal to Air Traffic Control while the
terrorist group took over. The passengers of the
aircraft that day praised the pilot for his quick
thinking as well as his heroic actions.
