Who Invented Basketball
James Naismith was the first man to
invent basketball at the age 30 in
1939 and he was also friends with
William G. Morgan who invented
volleyball.
Naismith was born November 6,1861
in Almonte,Canada and died
November 28,1939 in Lawrence ,KS
and had 5 children with his wife
Florence B. Kincaid.

Most importantly what is basketball?Basketball is a sport played against two
different teams that go up and down the court to try to blockout the other team
so they can steal the ball and make a basket.

The First Game
A game that started with eighteen men in a YMCA gymnasium in Springfield, Massachusetts, has grown
into a game that more than 300 million people play worldwide. The man who created this instantly
successful sport was Dr. James Naismith.

Back then basketball was a sport that didn’t have its very first game going well
but we have improved over the years we have nets we don’t have to play at the
YMCA gymnasium to play are games any more or have to use a ladder to get the
ball out of a peach basket every time someone makes a basket

1.The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.
2.A player may not run with the ball,he may throw it on the spot where he catches it.
3.The ball needs to be held in or between his hands, not using and other part of your body.
4.No shouldering,pushing,tripping,or striking in any way the person of an opponent
5.A goal shall be made when the ball is thrown from the grounds into the basket and stays there, providing
those defending the goal do not touch or disturb the goal. If the ball rests on the edges, and the opponent moves
the basket, it shall count as a goal.
