Vision 2030 - Jamaica's National Development Plan that is the road map for making our country the place of choice to live,

Vision 2030 Jamaica aims at positioning Jamaica to achieve a developed country status by 2030. Based on seven (7)
guiding principles which emphasizes the importance and needs of our most important resource at the centre of the
country's development. Under this goal, Vision 2030 Jamaica focuses on the effective management of the country’s
natural resources to ensure the continued provision of essential environmental services; as well as a comprehensive
integrated approach to hazard risk management and climate change. Jamaica is prone to several natural hazards such as
earthquakes, droughts, floods, landslides and hurricanes. We must also be aware of the important consequences that
climate change has on Jamaica. The impacts of climate change will see sea-levels rising, the accelerated erosion and
flooding of coastal areas, increased frequency and intensity of hurricanes, coral reef destruction, and the spread of vector-
borne diseases. As Earth Day reaches its milestone 50th Anniversary in April 2020, nature and the environment are faced
with enormous challenges including loss of biodiversity, pollution, degradation of our ecosystems and climate change.
Through this competition, it is hoped that persons will be able to appreciate and encourage the preservation of Jamaica's
environment.

Entries will be judged on the premise that ample research has gone into what is produced. It is hoped that our nation’s
youth can become a voice of change through their creative and expressive ideas on our aim at Jamaica preserving a
healthy natural environment--- Let’s envision it! Let's preserve it!
