THE CENTER STAGE IN VETERINARY MEDICINE....

These pictures were made possible by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
grassroots Ambassador Program which connects veterinarians with their members of Congress
for state-based meetings, events and veterinary hospital tours. Ambassador events allow AVMA
members to speak directly with lawmakers about important veterinary priorities and build
relationships with Congress as “go-to” resources for veterinary issues. AVMA consults with state
veterinary medical associations to identify veterinary leaders to participate as ambassadors for
veterinary medicine in local events with lawmakers. Veterinarians must be AVMA members and
actively involved with their state VMA. In 2018, the program’s inaugural year, AVMA arranged more
than 45 such meetings between lawmakers and veterinarians. AVMA is expanding this program in
2019 as we continue growing veterinary medicine’s grassroots capabilities and influence.

Dr. John Otto attended a Birthday Bash for U.S. Rep. Tom Cole. He mingled with the attendees,
represented the OVMA and AVMA, and expressed his thanks for Representative Cole’s support of
veterinary medicine.

prescription legislation being heard in a committee that Rep. Mullin sits on.
