AVMA REPORT

New Challenges to Veterinary Medicine

Hello fellow OVMA members. Below are some topics that the AVMA has been addressing and debating over the
last few months:
Questions and concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine
Discussing growing tensions and rudeness in the workplace
License Portability - new focus on practice changes resulting from the pandemic, workforce challenges, and the
need for veterinary professional services in disaster relief
Expanding AVMA Membership - offering a type of AVMA membership to veterinary team members such as
credentialed veterinary technicians, hospital managers, and other staff.
The Veterinary Leadership Conference (VLC) will be held in person in Chicago Jan 6-9, 2022. There will also
be an option to attend virtually. The above topics and other areas of interest and concern will no doubt be among
discussions in the various VLC workshops and the floor of the House of Delegates.
Best to all of you,
Rosemarie Strong, DVM
OK AVMA Delegate
