Hello OVMA! Lee Denney, DVM
OVMA President
I hope this finds you
emerging from the
pandemic a little more each
day. I am sure our clients
are enjoying being able
to actually come into our
clinics again and engage
face to face with the staff
members they trust.

Summer is quickly filling up with activities we have missed
over the last 18 months. We can travel and see family and
friends. We also can meet in person for meetings again very
soon.

Although the AVMA meeting will be virtual, we are hoping
that the Southwest Veterinary Symposium will be an in
person meeting.

License renewal is approaching quickly, June 30, so if you
still need some CE, the OVMA has teamed up again with OSU
College of Veterinary Medicine to present Summer Seminar.
It will be virtual on June 18 and 19. Early bird registration ends
June 7, so get your registrations in early. Dr. Rosslyn Biggs,
Assistant Clinical Professor, has put an excellent program
together. If you cannot attend Summer Seminar, OSU has
other options for CE online.

As OVMA members, we have lots of member benefits
available to us. We send out the Communique four times a
year which includes access to the relief veterinarian list and
other useful information. Other benefits include access to the
list serve, and opportunities for free CE at district meetings.
Members receive a discount when they register for our annual
meeting, OKVC. Members also can participate in the pet

TECH TALK

Summer is getting closer with all it includes, warmer weather and OVTA’s summer meeting that will be held
on July 10th.

For the meeting we are working on some exciting things and hope that it will all come together with a lot of
support. And staying on the topic of meetings, we are working on getting the speakers ready for OKVC 2022,
and that line up is very exciting too.

With summer being here students are graduating from the veterinary technician program throughout the state, and it has been
a difficult journey for them because of COVID-19, I am not saying that under normal circumstances it is not difficult, but this
group of students has had some other challenges on top of already intense programs. We would like to congratulate all of them
for completing the programs and wish everyone luck on their VTNE and their future.

I want to end this with reminding everyone that we do take nominations for Vet Tech Of The Year all year long. The only
requirements are that the person nominated is an RVT in Oklahoma and a member of OVTA, so let those nominations roll in
and nominate someone that is going above and beyond for our field!
