Warm-up

Four Square

Skill focus: Hand Eye coordination
How to Play:

Each player stands in one of the four squares.To start the game, the player in square four serves the ball by
bouncing it in their square once and then hitting it towards one of the other squares. The receiving player then
hits the ball to any other player in one of the other squares.The ball must bounce in another player's square,
and they must hit it to another player before it bounces a second time.A player may hit the ball before it
bounces, if they choose to do so.If a player hits the ball so that it misses another player's square, or fails to hit
the ball before the second bounce after it has landed in their square, they are "out".When a player is out, the
other players move up to take their place, and that player moves to the last square, or to the end of the line, if
there are more than four players.
Rules:The object of the game is to move up to and hold the server's position.
Equipment: 1 ball per game
Space Requirements: N/A
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes or until every player is eliminated
Players: 4

Ninja

Skill focus: strategy and coordination
How to Play:

In a circle, objective is to get the person beside you out by touching their arms with yours on
your turn. Movement must be in one motion, and you must remain in the exact position you
stop at. If you manage to touch the person before they dodge, they will lose that arm and they
will have to place it behind their back. Once you lose all both arms you are eliminated from the
game.
Rules:The object of the game is to get the person beside you out by touching their arms with yours
on your turn.
Equipment: N/A
Space Requirements: N/A
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes or until every player is eliminated
Players: 5-7

Flinch/Toy Soldier

Skill focus: Concentration
How to Play:
One person is in the center of the circle with a ball (dodgeball or something soft). Their objective is
to fake toss the ball to the people standing in the circle to try and get them to “flinch”. If they flinch,
they are to crouch and sit. Last person standing replaces the person in the middle.
Rules:Their objective is to fake toss the ball to the people standing in the circle to try and get them

Equipment: 1 ball
Space Requirements: Enough space to move around
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes or until every player is eliminated
Players: 4+

Dragon’s Tail

Skill focus: Agility
How to Play:

Form two groups or more (depending on your group size), and stand in a line placing hands on
shoulder on person in front of you. Each group has a head of the dragon (person at the front),
and a dragons tail (last person in the line). Objective of each group is to capture the dragon’s
tail (person at the end will have a pinnie tucked in their shorts).
Rules: The object of the game is to pull the opponents flag before they can pull yours
Equipment: a flag per dragon
Space Requirements: Enough space to spread out and move around
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes or until every player is eliminated
Players: 6+

Human Shape

Skill focus: Strategy
How to Play:

Divide students up into multiple groups or if there aren’t enough students to form teams, then
play as a whole group. The instructor will call out a shape (or letter, number etc.), and the
students as a group have to form that exact shape (or letter, number etc.) with only their
bodies. *everyone MUST be part of this final product. First team to accomplish will be reward a
point.
Rules:The object of the game is to complete the shape before your opponent
Equipment: 1 ball per game
Space Requirements: Enough space to spread out on the floor
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes
Players: 8+

Doctor Dodgeball

Skill focus: Hand Eye coordination
How to Play:

On each team there is a “Doctor” that is chosen by the team. The identity of the doctor remains
anonymous to the other team. The doctor has the ability to revive players on their team if they
have been hit, all they have to do is touch their teammate that is sitting down wherever they
were hit .Once the doctor is hit, they are out of the game and no one can be revived o Game
ends when one team has successfully gotten everyone eliminated
Rules:The object of the game is to move up to and hold the server's position.
Equipment: 5-7 balls
Space Requirements: Enough Space to move around
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes or until every player is eliminated
Players: 8-10

Steal the Bacon

Skill focus: Hand Eye coordination
How to Play:
Divide students into two teams.The teams line up on each of the lines created by the pylons. Each
team member is given a number.The instructor throws a bean bag into play and then calls a number.
These two participants race to secure the bean bag.The person that gets the bean bag tries to get
back to their line before the other person tags them. If the person does get tagged, there is no score.
If the person gets back behind his or her teams line before he is tagged, his team gets a point.The
team with the most points wins.
Rules: To get the bean bag and bring it back to your team's line before getting tagged
Equipment:Bean Bags, Pinnies(2 different colors), pylons
Space Requirements: Enough space to move around
Time Needed: 10-20 minutes
Players: 4

Connect four Relay

Skills: strategy and agility
How to Play:

Students split up into two groups and get 8 bean bags each.The students will then line up on
each side, the first person will have a bean bag in their hand.The teacher will blow the whistle
and students must race to place the bean bag in a hula hoop.Students must get four in a row,
the other team can block plays from the other team.Whoever gets four in a row first wins
Rules: each team must have the same color bean bags
Equipment: 16 hula hoops and bean bags
Space Requirements: a half a court
Time Needed: 15-20 minutes

Tic-Tac-Toe Relay

Skills: strategy and agility
How to Play:

Students split up into two groups and get 8 bean bags each.The students will then line up on
each side, the first person will have a bean bag in their hand.The teacher will blow the whistle
and students must race to place the bean bag in a hula hoop.Students must get tic-tac-toe in a
row, the other team can block plays from the other team.Whoever gets four in a row first wins
Rules: each team must have the same color bean bags
Equipment: 9 hula hoops and bean bags
Space Requirements: a half a court
Time Needed: 15-20 minutes

Musical Hula Hoop

Skill Focus: listening, agility
How to play:

Place hula hoops around the floor, depending on how many players thats how many hula hoops
you will place down,The teacher is going to call out an activity for students to
do(skipping,hopping,etc.), the student will start doing it and the music will start playing.The
teacher will stop the music and students will run to a hula hoop.Whoever does not have a hula
hoop, there out and a hula hoop gets taken out.The game will continue until there's only one
player left.
Rules: there's no pushing, no moving the hula hoops
Equipment: Hula hoops and music
Space Requirements: space to move around and run
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes
Players: no less than 10

Spud

skill focus: Observation Skills, Listening Skills
How to Play:

Number everyone off (e.g. 1-11 kids), and have one person start in the middle with the ball. That person is to
toss the ball up in the air and call out a number from 1-11 (except their own number). Once the ball is tossed in
the air, everyone else is allow to run away (within the boundary) from the middle. Person whose number got
called is to catch the ball and call STOP! Once STOP is called, everyone stops where they are. Person with the
ball has 3 steps they can take to get close to any target. If their target is hit, that target gets a letter (S). IF that
target gets hit again in another round, they get a second letter (U), so not this target has SP. If they get all four
letters that spell SPUD, they have to show off their best dance move to everyone. Targets are allowed to dodge
but their feet must be stationary
Rules: To dodge, players are allowed to move all parts of their body except they may not move their feet at all.
Equipment: A soft ball that does not hurt when thrown.
Space Requirements: Enough room to move around freely.
Time Needed: 10-20 minutes
Players: no less than 5

Back to back

Skills: Teamwork
How to Play:

Students will partner up and space out to have enough room.Students will then turn away from
each other, but have there backs touching and arms locked.Students must try to sit down with
there legs completely out and must try to stand back up
Rules: Arms must be linked at all times if they are unlinked then the group loses
Equipment: N/A
Space Requirements: open space
Time Needed: 10-15 minutes
